These videos of John, intuitive and to a certain extent great though they may be, always seem erratic, at least to me: that position he's in, for instance: isn't that a little "too comfortable" to be considered exercise? As for the shifting of the hips: since when it's considered proper form to shift the hips? Isn't the whole point to refrain from shifting the hips and keeping a tight core? That said though, i did try this and it gave me a great full-body workout. So long as you don't care for proper form, that is.
Where can i find that massive kettlebell that's in the background of John's basement? And what gym mats are those he's using? I'd like to purchase the "wall method" video but i have to hold back until i've bought all the necessary equipment, and it's not an easy task to accomplish...

I try and emulate that snapping into the standing plank...it has exponentially helped to think of it and then feel it done as such a popping up into or snapping into place in that locked up position...it's awesome!!!

So you are "allowed" to rest your elbows on the belt in the rack position per GS rules? I have heard conflicting info about this. FWIW I have a belt and I do indeed rest my elbows on it!
What weight should the kettlebell be? 40lbs-50lbs?
16 kg (35 lbs) for average male and 8 kg (18 lbs) for average female. 20 or 24 kg for trained males and 12 or 16 kg for trained females. If you’re not sure what you are start with the average recommended weight.
If I could go back 40 years, I would start training with KB and Calisthenics only. I wasted so much time in the gym, lifting weights!
I combine kb with barbell training only. Bench ohp deadlifts and zerchers works great.... Barbell 3x week. Do you have any advise ?
@nadhirsulaiman4805 If you're asking me, I like my present training because it's more time effective. I used to spend 2 hours, 3/4 times, lifting tonnes, overtraining. I can be adequately, fit, strong and healthy with rings and KBs for just 20-40 minutes per day _at home_ , with no further costs.
I think both are good I’m a beginner and I use dumbbells, a barbell, a kettlebell and calisthenics in my regiment. Both have pros and cons imo. A classic workout with weights like a dumbbell or barbell are a great measure of progress week to week to see how strong your becoming as well as a great strength building tools but man a good workout can take up to 45 to 1 hour to make it worth it. The kettlebell is more of a conditioning tool it can really train you to take punishment, it’s also fast as fuck to get a good workout in that you will be satisfied with. Good old fashioned calisthenics is great but unfortunately some of those exercises are brutal like Russian twists or burpees. The ones that aren’t as bad like push ups, sit ups and body weight squats become too easy and the advanced versions of those have a difficult learning curve. Handstand pushups, human flag and dragon squats.

So you can have the dumbbell straight, pull it up sideways, and then finish it straight? So when you pull it up it should always be sideways?

I don't think this would work well with a competition kb especially the adjustable. But perhaps it would be OK with the Mk 2? Those are some quite complex exercises and not everyone's that coordinated unfortunately.

I am also still waiting for someone (Strong And Fit, anyone?) to reply to my query as to what type of gym mats are those and where to get them. Hey, I bought some about 10 years ago exactly like these. I called local pickling companies. They said they've never had anyone ask before but had a couple old barrels they weren't using that they sold me for 15 a pop. I had to borrow a truck and pick them up. I remember they said theyve moved to a new design and these were an older style. I filled one with roughly 450-500 lb of sand. It works great. Haven't used it in a while though
