Weighing brass AND powder together is not a good idea for loading powder. One is assuming the brass have all uniform weight. I weight my powder on a pan set at zero. That way, I'm only weighing powder.

Although i am intimidated, I am looking forward to reloading rifle starting with the 3006. Your video is a BIG help and valued tool in getting me there

Some tongue in the cheek comment, i am from Afria and been hunting for more than 50 years. As a PH, I took more than a few clients on a hunt. The campfire joke on the first nite was " who is hunting with an 3006 ? " Usually, there will be one or two replies. The follow-up up remake will be, " hope u have some extra streak to feed the tracking dogs 🐕 for we will be tracing for hours after that shot with a 3006. The range of replies are not fit for publicasion. 😂😂 here. Well informed the lesson on reloading.

After watching an interview with an African big game guide Dad paraphrased , Interviewer "What's your favorite gun" Guide "Double 500 nitro express" Interviewer "Why" Guide "They don't make a Double 600 nitro express". Good video on reloading 380acp, I've reloaded thousands of pistol rounds over the last 35 years but never any 380. However, I'll leave a few hints from someone with thousands of single stage, turret and Dillon progressive rounds: 1. Used brass, de-cap and clean (Optional primer pocket prep) in batches before reloading 2. If reloading on single stage/turret press, batch prime with handheld priming tool (e.g., Lee, Frankford)..much faster, easier & more consistent 3. Die adjustments are critical; make Sharpie index marks to ensure 1/8, 1/4 1/2 turn adjustments are accurate and use die wrenches to secure 4. When using a powder dispenser, best practice is to do 5 successive drops, weigh the charge, divide by 5 and then make any required adjustment 5. Ten second seating die setup: Use Winchester White Box FMJ-FN that is virtually identical to your load. Measure the factory round (compare to your desired OAL), then insert it and raise the ram...lower the seating die until it just touches the factory round. Lock die in place. Once & done!

Wish you had explained about the Funnel, if any funnel would work, and if it needs to be set at a certain depth before dropping the Alignment pin in Station 1?? You just kinda skipped right to dropping it in, so I wasn't sure what to do at this point, still working through it at the moment, but an explanation on this would have been a Big Help, Thank You!

Nice video! Except for the oil on the primer bar. I use dry graphite like you use on locks. The priming system needs to be maintained regularly to operate correctly. I've had a 550B since they began making them, 10's of thousands of rounds, and I love it.

  • @Gunners_Mate_Guns

You really shouldn't be using mixed headstamp brass. That can cause pressure issues of you're at or near max powder charge, and it will definitely cause variations in point of impact.

Wood that was given for fire wood in to nice product. Not every thing doesn't have to be new.

I went with the Lee Ram Swage, goes on the press, and the base that goes in the shell holder slot of the ram has springs that pushes the brass off the swage post. About 40-50 bucks depending on where you buy it. I've been very satisfied with the use of this. Setup, use, and cleanup all quick and easy. Cleanup? what is there to clean? Not much, I spray it out with a little compressed air just in case it gets a chip of brass in it after every use. But I clean up all my dies, scale and press after every use.

I know this video is 5 years old, but thanks for sharing your review of the HOWA 308. My son and I just purchased HOWA Model 1500 308WIN combo package that comes with the Nikko Stirling GamePro scope. Right out of the box our scopes were set. I made the mistake of checking at 25 yards and it was shooting sub MOA but about an inch low. I brought it up just above center of bullseye and then shot at 100 and I was off the paper. I should of left mine where it was at. I am sure now that I have it zero'd at 100 that if I shot it again at 25 it is going to be an inch low. Looked all over the internet for HOWA 1500's in 308WIN but very few, especially like our configuration with the over molded Hoque stock. Again thanks for sharing.

I have the M12AR B!, because I like the hand guards which are styled like the M16 A2 rifle I was trained on in the Military. Many people are having issues with the semi auto firing, most spent shells getting jammed, not ejecting properly. I have this issue several times myself in break in or the rifle. I thinhk the issue is, that people want to fire this weapon multiple times as fast they get them down range. I will clue people in on Army BRM training in basic training. AT NO TIME were we allowed to fire our M16 A2 on 3 round burst. We we trained to fire one shot, scope and fire again. We were not allowed to just blast and blast like Rambo or some war movie people seen. We took the time to methodically concentrate on our accuracy , relax and hold our breath to take one singular shot at a time to train and work on our marksmanship. We didnt just send a bunch of ammo down range all kentucy windage style. This is not an actual AR15, It is a shotgun, so you treat it as such. In any shot gun, I have several, I dont just try to blast as many shells as i can at the cans down range, One shot will do the trick , a 8 shot load will cover quite a group on your target. I have found that setting the gas return knob at 0 and just using the bolt lever, fire one shot, use the bolt lever again to clear the spent shell and re chamber the next shell is effective. About home defense, well then thats a problem. But I can guarantee you that if you broke into some ones house and the home owner comes at you with this M12AR B1, blasts one shot at you , you will either lay there or be running the other way. Even if you have to rack it every shot. I havent had one issue of misfire or ejection , just racking it every shot...no different than any other shot gun on the market. I like it because it looks more tactical, its subdue black. The whole time i was on active duty in Iraq, I thought about having a shot gun, I wanted a shot gun instead of that M16, Because in a war situation, you arent sending your whole mag down range, you are trying to make each round count and shot gun would be more effect with a spread group.
