Welcome to First-Timers Homes! I'm Zach, my wife is Lisa, and as first-time homeowners this channel is about sharing our experience with you as we work to fix and update our home in hopes that we can help you learn from our mistakes and take on projects.
Here's how it all started...
We bought our first house and moved in. Things went well for a while... then we started to notice things... the odd paint mishaps here and there... the tile grout in the bathrooms started falling apart... the doorbell went on the fritz and wouldn't stop ringing... water started coming out of the wall... the A/C started smelling funny... and all of the grass died... So, we're getting to work.

Bathroom demolition LOOKS easy... is It? | Bathroom Renovation Part 1

This is a full bathroom demolition! We've had a few renovation projects on the list for a while, weren't sure where to start, and then we had a water leak in the guest bathroom. It's one of the renovation projects on the list anyway, so... we're starting there. It sounds pretty simple, but how do you actually demo a bathroom? If you're laughing at that question, so was I. Reality sets in when y...

It's finally time to start some larger renovation projects, but figuring out where to start is an important decision... especially with a limited budget! So, in this video I'm walk...
How to replace Genie garage door sensors [removal, installation, tools, cost]
Просмотров 62 тыс.3 года назад
Garage door sensors not working? Neither were mine. This video walks through step-by-step as I remove my old sensors and install the new ones on my Genie garage door opener system. If you're not sure your sensors are the problem, a couple of common signs are: 1. The red LED is blinking 2, 3, or 4 times with a pause in between 2. The door will open fine, but won't close unless you force it by ho...

Replacing Weather Stripping and the Door Sweep on My Front Door - Save Money and Keep Bugs Out
Просмотров 87 тыс.4 года назад
My front door needed new weather stripping and a new door sweep across the bottom. So, in this video I'm showing you how I replaced those things in order to help save money on energy bills (up to 20% on your monthly heating and cooling costs according to the U.S. Department of Energy), and to keep the bugs out. This all started when I noticed a lot of light and air coming through around my fron...

To fix the problem with the light on your wall Consol try switching the wires backwards
You're just a DIYer? Well that's the most comprehensive homeowner repair video I've seen in a while.
Great job and good info.
STOP WITH THE MUSIC!!
Can you help me with my garage door?
Genie 3305 here. Garage was flooded and sensors were under water. See red light flashing two times. Changed sensor, remounted higher using tape measure at 5 1/2". Still flashing two times. Could the water have shorted the circuit board out at the sensor wiring? Maybe extended short could do that? Maybe time to replace the opener since about ten years old but was working fine. Great video. Sound and lighting are grreat. I appreciate this.
By reading other comments mow im not the only one who feels this way. I would vote you in for president just off this.
Man ,best explaination on how to do anything ive ever viewed/ listened to on youtube in my intire life . Ive watched thousands of different types of how to do it yourself videos an just maybe we think alike cause you resonate like im hearing myself speak if i could be as smooth as you. For real your a talented individual that can do alot for this world ,i hope your àcheiving high expectations in this life cause you are brilliant. Thank you young man.
Thread paste is specifically designed to seal the threads of a pipe and is known to be better for maintaining a permanent steal than Teflon plumber's tape.
Hello, thank U for sharing the video with the mistakes, made it more learning actually on the details. May I ask, where did U purchase the door's weather stripping with all the choices of sizes? And where did U get the vinyl door sweep? My local home depot only has metal which makes cutting a lot more complicated. Though I do not know how long the vinyl may last for exterior door expose to the sun.
I made the exact same mistake 😂
Thanks for the music
I am extremely impressed by your teaching skills, good job thank you.
Thanks man! You provided a lot of great info and your video was the one I kept on referencing. Was able to change mine successfully! Fixed my washer issue too (it kept on pausing on wash/rinse cycles because of the water level). You earned my like and subscribe! Can't afford my first house quite yet, its 2024 and prices are crazy, but I'm sure i'll be revisiting your channel when the time comes. Keep up the great work!
I have changed the sensors and the lights seems right to me.. one is red and the other is green. but when I press the wall console (wireless); all i hear is clicking sound.. I have legacy 650 and WIRELESS WALL CONSOLE, OVERHEAD DOOR - 39903R. the light bulb is working (power) is there.. I press the opener remote, I hear the click sounds.. nothing else. my opener is only 2 months old.
you are just lucky to have the stop valve screwed into the pipe, mine used soldering to the pipe, the box is plastic, there is no way to use a flame at all, can't understand why those idiots install the valve using soldering with a plastic box.
Very informative, covered things I hadn’t thought to check. My problem is my trolley won’t latch back together. I’m sure I’ll figure out soon than later, I did enjoy your way of speaking, thank you
Omg that music🙄👎...I rather look another video.
Thank you!
And thanks for talking to explain. Ive seen videos wherevthey dont talk thru what they're doing and it's impossible for me to understand what is going on
Dang! So much info! I hope I can pull this off without calling a plumber! 😳
Ok, I don't have to use a torch!
Are the weatherstrips still intact?
Thank you for the video, helped me trouble shoot a wiring problem and saved me a lot of time.
Good he did a lot
back ground music has to go. good video tho.
Sorry. Can’t concentrate with that music.
Best garage door troubleshooting video I've found. Thanks.
the music, not needed.
Don't be a hater, much needed 👌
Hello , my genie powered garage door has 2 inches blanking red lights : how to reset
OMG, I think I'm in love.
Excellent video 📹! Reprogrammed remote per your instructions and back to normal 😀 👍
is there some way to turn off the background music? thanks!
Great video.
string find length divide by pie that is your Outer diameter
How to set the limit switches
Limit switches have not been set yet
Unfortunately, I couldn't make it through much of what was an informative video, but I had a hard time hearing you through the music
Wait, how do you have that much knowledge if it's your first time? You are giving us more valueable information than a plumber!!!!!!😳😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Music is so distracting
Hi! Currently trying to replace my leaky washer valves. I can't read the stamp on the valve because it's so corroded. I measured the circumference of the pipe with a tape measure and it is 1 inch. Is that the nps size in your table? Not sure which size I'll need bc most videos says I'll need a half inch. Thanks!
I like the music when you are moving the washer 😂 Good job though! Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks for making it so easy, it really was!
So if you had a leak that caused a bubble in your floor, (Particle board(s)) would it be a good idea to patch the bad spot on the board(s) or just go for the whole bathroom. We had already thought of remodeling it anyway.. but is it easier to pull apart the floor with everything out?
This is the most comprehensive video, thank u so much to taking your time to do it for us:) I think u should be a garage experts bc your video has more details than anything I ever seen
Garage door works with wall pad , but not my remote and yes it has new batteries Help!
Either locked, not programmed, signal interference
My garage door seems to have become disconnected from the chain. Your video shows that you can slide the connection onto the other part and it clicks into place. Mine doesn't click, and if I turn on the chain, it just slides and the chain doesn't move the door.
Doing this at my daughter's house on Saturday. Thanks!
Sorry dude couldn't hear you over the snares...
This was very thorough, thank you! I wonder, did you try tightening the packing nut or even replacing the packing nut washer before going to the trouble of replacing rhe valves?
How did you know whoch genie sensors to use? Model or serial number? I think my opener is from the 80s 😂
