Tacoma 4.0 head gasket repair tips! (1GRFE)
Motorcyclists often have trucks. Those trucks are often Tacomas. And sometimes, those have head gasket failures. I learned a LOT before tackling this job myself. I read forums, watched videos, dug through the FSM, and talked to the dealership. My goal was to do a better job, with better parts, all for half the price of a shop.
Here are the finer details that are lacking or confusing in the sources I found, to give you the confidence you need to attempt this with success.
The Tundra and 4Runner also had this motor FYI. Mine is a 2005 Tacoma Trd OR (unfortunately a known head gasket issue year, until halfway through 06).
BONUS TIPS:
DO replace your head bolts and washers.

Husaberg FE570 water pump seal replacement and weep hole mod
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.2 года назад
There are two seals for your Husaberg's water pump shaft: one for coolant and one for engine oil. There is a space between them along with a hole, so if either seal leaks, the fluid will exit the engine to warn you. When Husaberg turned the engine at its funky angle, they never changed the weep hole, so it points straight forward into oncoming dirt. The mod addresses this issue to prevent junk ...
2017+ R6 Footpeg Replacement (the easy/cheap way)
Просмотров 8 тыс.2 года назад
To replace the right footpeg with an oem part, you would have to buy the footpeg/bracket assembly. This requires removing the whole rearset and the bolt from the rear of the peg bracket. Orrrr for about $7.50 you can buy some cheapies and just swap the peg itself.

03-06 Cbr600rr Lazy CCT Fix
Просмотров 28 тыс.3 года назад
It seems CBRs have some auto CCT issues like many other bikes, which can cause noisy timing chains and potentially serious damage. This is a 2006 Cbr600rr, with basically the same motor as 03-05, and similar to 2007 . This can help free up a sticky CCT, but if your noise continues, look into a replacement or a manual tensioner.

    So there is a golden little piece there next to the main jet. Where does that go?

    • @themotofirm
      @themotofirm 4 месяца назад

      Took a while to figure out what you meant, I assume at 3:32? That is the needle jet, basically a guide for the needle, and makes the hole visible from the inside when you’re lowering the needle down into place. It presses lightly into the carb body from the bowl side, before the main jet and jet holder go in. Countersunk (tapered bore) goes toward the needle. I don’t typically mess with them since they don’t do much and don’t really go bad, but maybe I replaced this one since the kit had it, not sure.

    Thanks for the video... made changing this out a breeze! Especially how to unfasten the plugs. Just a couple of things for anyone else doing this 1) The official part #'s for gen 1 bikes (may be the same for gen 2) are as follows, 1RC-82540-00 Neutral Switch Assy., 39210-21001 O-ring, and if for some reason you need the bolts 90110-05067 Bolt, Hexagon Socket Head. 2) QUICK TIP! It makes life easier if you affix a length of wire, or pipe cleaner, or bottle brush, or whatever you have handy to the old plug as you remove it so you'll be able to fish the new one back along the same route with ease.
