Equestrian Challenge is the GOAT - Horse Girl Game Analysis

I have been on a lifelong quest to play every horse game. Lucinda Green's Equestrian Challenge was arguably the only good game to be released during the mid 2000s horse game boom. I actually have a horse with PSSM. I adopted him because his previous owners had purchased him for stud, but found out he had PSSM and opted to geld him. While my boy has PSSM, with a strict diet and exercise routine recommended by my vet, we have managed to avoid any episodes of tying up thus far. It’s a scary thing but manageable! It does hurt me to know people do continue to breed horses with these conditions and I’ve learned a lot about PSSM type 1 and 2 from having my boy. He’s a paint horse, so also very closely related to quarter horses. I wouldn’t trade him for the world.

Wow, I used to play Riding Club Championship, before it got onto Facebook and inevitably died as other games did at the time. Some of the bugs around jumping in certain places were annoying but otherwise it was enjoyable. This game has a few good points (horse/course creators) but needed much better execution.

I agree with most the things you said- one thing I would like to touch on is how you said it’s just as physically and athletically demanding as riding a real horse. This is the first video I have ever seen of your so I don’t know if you ride horses or have ever rides horses- but. I don’t do hobby horsing but I like to run and jump over random things just as much as the next adventurous person. I have never dived into hobby horsing but from watching this video, saying it was just as demanding as real horse riding is just… I don’t want to be rude but it’s not- please correct me if I’m wrong on any of this. Hobby horsing, all the skill is on you, you have to run, jump, do the right movements, and yes there is danger like any sport but not to the degree of riding a real horse! (I’m an equestrian I ride a few different disciplines/events) with a real horse it’s companionship- it’s on you and the horse, you have to do the right movements to get your horse to do the right moments, so on and so forth with all gaits, jumping, and more, don’t forget the aspect of trust! And with horses- anything could go wrong at any moment! Sorry for the paragraph- just wanted to say I think your wrong about ‘it’s just as physically and athletically demanding as riding a real horse” once again no hate on hobbyhorsing or you Funny comments about the video: also wanna add I’m an equestrian who collects Breyer horses lol WHEN SHE IS EXPLANINB HOW TO MAKE ONE AND THEY KISS 😭 Hobby horsing does seem fun So happy you enjoyed having fun with ‘him’ in public! Also I think Daniel is a great name for him

THANK YOU for the video you said so much stuff i want to say lol. i don't understand hobby horsing fully but i think its super cool?? hobby horsing is like quadrobics imo in the same vein of 'fun thing to do' with crafts and all the stuff you listed + the whole everyone else makes fun of ppl who do it but?? like 12:24 good for them for getting their exercise in a fun and enjoyable way?? ++ 8:24 also mostly made of younger folks now growing up to be young adults and sticking to it although i say quadrobics definitely have more children BUT STILL big similarities so super enjoyed the video

I don't remember if I got my first Breyer horses in 1963 or 64, but I still have those. Hard to tell from my avatar being a cat sitting on a giraffe, but I'm pretty sure I loved all those, cats, giraffes and horses from the same point in time. I have a photo of me in a little cowgirl outfit from probably 1955. I also started riding in 1963. I continued into college, even teaching briefly while there, so while I'm now entered into my 7th decade, I am still a horsey girl.

Potato on toothpicks!!! Sigh. Sadly accurate for a lot of quarter horses, and others. I have a friend who loved her OTB mare who had lovely conformation right down to her knees- and then it was like her legs were barely visible. She had the tiniest, brittle feet... Anyway. AWESOME video. I was appalled at the footage of Intuit trying to walk. He didn't look all that good when he was swanning around his paddock, either. Poor fellow. Lovely markings and probably a sweet guy but wow. His body. :( Liked and subscribed. Edited to add that I'm a life-long horse lover, rider and champion of animals of all kinds. I prefer English riding for my own uses (mostly for comfort and trail riding) but I'm less concerned with what kind of horse a person rides or what their horse is wearing in terms of tack. As long as the horse is treated kindly, with respect and for their best health I'm good. Breeding only for looks is reprehensible no matter what species one chooses. I love Arabians, for example, but honestly I'd never buy a purebred in the US, unless it was of Polish descent, or crossed with another breed or two. Actually, mutts are my favorite, generally speaking! My two favorite childhood horses were a POA who was one inch too tall to be a true pony and an Arab-Morgan-TB mare. Both were gentle, super smart, kind, willing and just wonderful to spend time with. Riding them was such a dream...

I do remember the horse grooming. I must have blacked out during the story (i will maybe blane it on the medium, as Pippa's anythibg was not available to buy in my country). I am fairly sure the story was a tad abridged for the time, place, and medium I was playing it on. Aha i've played theough all the competitions, but i wasn't aware there was a "story" behind it all. Thanchu!

I’m gonna be honest, sometimes people deserve to be cancelled. I don’t normally agree with the whole mob mentality thing, but there are times when it is useful. If something is actually wrong, it should be called out. If the people who feel called out and feel that their business is being threatened don’t like it, well that is exactly the point, and maybe they should stop their bad practices. It does not matter how sweet or kind or show savvy a horse is. If it has such large physical problems, it 1. Should not be promoted in the show ring, and 2. Should not be used as a breeder. I do not care if “that’s what the halter shows call for nowadays, it’s not the owners’ faults” because yes it is, actually. The owners are the ones breeding the horses. If every breeder suddenly stopped breeding those horses, then the show would be forced to go back to its true basics. But no one is going to do that because they are selfish and don’t want to miss out on the cash grab. It is the fault of everyone involved that these horses end up leading such miserable lives. And the people defending it sound just the same as the racing industry does after another horse needs put down on the track. It’s pathetic to say the least
