Bill White and Phil Rizzuto best chemistry in a broadcast team ...l
❤ Rizzuto White n Messer!!
I miss those days.
What a class act! Why did the Yankees unload Frank Messer? Bill White and Phil Rizzuto hung on for several more years, wasn’t the same without Frank!
Yankee fan since 1969. remember when Bill White first came to the booth. he would make a lot of mistakes and Phil would always help him out by pointing out the errors surreptitiously. they developed a great chemistry and gave me many laughs and hours of enjoyment during their time together. I miss hearing them.
Brings back so many memories listening to Yankee games as a kid! I loved listening to them both!
There should be a million likes to this man you're awesome
This is so nice to listen to. I loved Rizzuto.
I had to laugh when they were talking about sluggers who don't strike out that much and Scooter said "Yogi" and bill white asked "Berra?" haha like how many other Yogis could he be talking about?
RIP Bill Kunkel #9
3:53 to End Legends Billy Martin & Jim Kaat wrap up the game for WPIX & discuss other topics - including instant replay! Priceless stuff.
Why is Bill White not in the Hall of Fame? 8-time All-Star. 7-time Gold Glove winner. World Series winner. Groundbreaking broadcaster. NL President. For his overall service to Baseball, it is long-beyond time for him to be enshrined.
"Now we will go to an episode of the Odd Couple."
I wasn't a Yankees fan, but when I lived in Wilkes-Barre PA, I had the best of both worlds - my team (The Mets) on WOR and the Yankees on WPIX. The White/Rizutto broadcast team was one of the best .
In 1986, their championship year, Mets broadcasters Ralph Kiner and Tim McCarver were great as well.
I always listen to this every couple of years. What a great tandem these 2 guys were. Great chemistry.
When baseball was good.
Messer/White/Rizzutto were the Goats. I’d listen to radio for 3 innings to here Phil tell more stories
Go Twins!
The great old Yankee stadium.
Old/New (Refurbished). The Old Old stadium had support columns and the monuments were within the playing field.
Grew up with these guys in my teen years. They were the best
THOSE WERE GREAT ANNOUNCERS NOT THIS CRAP WE HAVE NOW AND WOMEN IN THE BOOTH WHAT DO THEY KNOW
I was at this game. They honored Joe DiMaggio on the 50th anniversary of his hitting streak. A "core memory" of me and my Dad.
Ahhhh 70s my 1st decade. Almost every Mets game on 9, every Yank game on Pix11.
On Sundays, they would show an Abbot and Costello film, then broadcast the Yankee home games. Channel 9 had Vince McMahon and MSG wrestling.

Legendary Broadcasters together
They had great chemistry and both were very nice gentlemen. White went on to become president of the National League, and Rizzuto made the HOF as a player and broadcaster. And if that wasn't enough, there's always Paradise by the Dashboard Lights.
Best ever team.
I like men in white sailor suits and I am a Man...does that make me "Funny ha ha Queer"
Miss old time baseball 😢
Always loved the Scooter and Bill White Frank Messer and Bobby Murcer From RedSox fan
I agree rizzuto Bill white Frank Messer WPIX 👍👍👍
Phil and Bill were the absolute best. I knew it as a kid growing up watching the games on WPIX. They had unbelievable chemistry. They made baseball fun and played off each other well. Plus, each had a keen sense of humor. They were the pinnacle of Yankees baseball for that era.
Frank Messer deserves the Ford Frick Award.
I miss these days yankee baseball Rizutto wpix on hot summer days
I grew up listening to Mr. White and the Scooter. Awesome childhood memories! Both men were first class!
Frank messer?
Now we have morons like Stephen A Smith
Loved there voices intellect and common sense ..I was single digits into teens but always loved these 3 sportscasters god bless them
Holy cow look a young Luis Sojo !!!
Exactly
The banter between these two was effortless. Bill was a natural and so fluid in moving the conversation. Phil always made me chuckle because he'd remind me of that chatterbox uncle you'd try to pry yourself from at family gatherings. Boy, I miss them.
Can we get Bill white in the hall of fame
Really, some type of lifetime achievement award at least - player, broadcaster and president of the National League.
Bill was the best of the bunch. How lucky I was to grow up listening to that trio.
As a kid in the 70’s when I had to go to bed I never cared. Just put the radio on and listen to these great men call the games. It was such a joy. Pure peace and happiness listening. A time in life I wished my sons had the chance to experience.
we were lucky growing up 70s
1
Enjoyed them in both growing as a kid also other broadcaster Frank Messer ? Good times
Brings you right back...
Brings you right back...
I really miss these 2. Always made me laugh! #RIPPhilRizzuto #HolyCow
Someone needs to do a Rizzuto/White RUclips channels. Endless uploads.. please!!!! I think the Yanks did indeed pickup Tommy John that year and his “surgically repaired arm” was historic!
God that was a painful time for the Yankees. I hate to say it, but Steinbrenner’s suspension and Martin’s death were the best things to happen to the Yankees. It forced the organization to build through the farm system, and not trade every young talent for aging stars. Buck Showalter, Bob Watson, and Gene Michael saved the team. They truly cared about the Yankees.
