What a class act! Why did the Yankees unload Frank Messer? Bill White and Phil Rizzuto hung on for several more years, wasn’t the same without Frank!

Yankee fan since 1969. remember when Bill White first came to the booth. he would make a lot of mistakes and Phil would always help him out by pointing out the errors surreptitiously. they developed a great chemistry and gave me many laughs and hours of enjoyment during their time together. I miss hearing them.

Why is Bill White not in the Hall of Fame? 8-time All-Star. 7-time Gold Glove winner. World Series winner. Groundbreaking broadcaster. NL President. For his overall service to Baseball, it is long-beyond time for him to be enshrined.

I wasn't a Yankees fan, but when I lived in Wilkes-Barre PA, I had the best of both worlds - my team (The Mets) on WOR and the Yankees on WPIX. The White/Rizutto broadcast team was one of the best .

God that was a painful time for the Yankees. I hate to say it, but Steinbrenner’s suspension and Martin’s death were the best things to happen to the Yankees. It forced the organization to build through the farm system, and not trade every young talent for aging stars. Buck Showalter, Bob Watson, and Gene Michael saved the team. They truly cared about the Yankees.
