I am curious about your experience to when it comes to Japanese restaurants. Working part-time in Tokyo myself in a restaurant/izakaya (Staple Japanese food so no western influence). I am shocked to see how the full-time workers are being squeezed out of energy. Working 15 hours per day for 6 days per week, having sleeping bags in the locker room so they can sleep for their 1 hour break. And we're talking about a job that requires you to 'stand' for that amount of time. So it's slowly killing your legs as well with constant squatting, lifting up things etc. I feel as if managers and bosses in Japan know about the culture and are heavily abusing that system in order to make up for understaffing or money saving since most employees are too scared to quit or too much ''bound by norm'' to speak up for themselves. I am just very glad that I came to work here under a 28 hour per week limit so I could force that boundary upon them. It's a good wake up call for those that have the dream of ''working in Japan'' Not saying that working in Japan = overtime death. Some companies might treat their staff amazingly well. But in the end, don't be enchanted by the magic of Japans amazing culture and kind people without knowing that there are bosses and companies that will squeeze the life out of you.

Best railway system in the world…but they don’t take care about performance, according to the report. Didn’t fire people just lower the salary. What a bad place to work. Let’s bring in some American remedy to them. Let’s start with DEI department, skyrocket salary to the ceo and lay off 40 percent of the staff and let’s get more laid back…like an Amtrak
what keeps you from reaching terminal velocity in a slope like this??? i'll probably end up hugging a tree in no-time...
The fear of dying 😅
I think you should have adjust the complaint numbers in relation to the amount of employees of the respective companies.
I dont ski , but this might be an good get away from the hellish Japanese summers as well.
How much does it cost to rent a snowboard or skis and skiboots for a day?
Depends on if you want regular or pro gear, but if you rent at the slope, it's around ¥3500 ($22) for basic skis/snowboard+boots per day
Hmmm, thinking about plans... I reckon I would forward my luggage from Tokyo to a hotel so I could just go straight to the ski resort :)

Sorry, I’m a little bit confused here. I literally took a bullet train from Fukuoka to Nagasaki in Nov 2023. It took an hour & 30 minutes. Why are you saying there is no bullet train set up?
There’s no bullet train from Fukuoka to Nagasaki. You likely took the Kamome Limited Express to transfer at Takeo-Onsen for the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen. If the whole line were a real bullet train like the Tokaido Shinkansen, the trip would take about 45 minutes instead of 1.5 hours
11:21 *aggressively buys puts against the Yen right away*
I wonder when this video was made? - Over the last few years the new Shinkansen line has brought millions in investments: New shopping centres, huge hotels (Hilton, Marriott’s), new stadium, there seems to be new buildings downtown weekly. These are massive, long-term infrastructure projects. - Yes, the population is declining, but it has also shifted to different areas. The population of foreign people has increased and people from smaller towns in the prefecture have been moving nearby the city. Also, people have been moving to the surrounding villages and towns to save money on living expenses and then commute in to work. - Childcare can be a pain, but it not as damaging as mentioned. - Prospects for young people are not that bad, just very Honshu focused. -Why would someone want to live in Nagasaki and commune for 2 hours to Fukuoka to work. Great video, love his work, but saying this town is disappearing and needs saving is not accurate at all.
@k3k.337 I literally took a bullet train from Fukuoka to Nagasaki last year and it only took an 1 hour & 30 min 🤷🏻♂️ with one transfer in Takeo Onsen Station. Not sure where this guys is getting his info?
@@ramblurman0798 I have family who have live the area. I wonder the same thing too.
City pop is simply the best of American and British pop with a Japanese twist
It's not bad music, but seriously guys... Its basically Funk and poppy R&b from America during the 60's and 70's, except through a sentimental Japanese filter a decade later. Don't hate it at all, but i think its the weebs are who are Over-hyping it.
Have worked for 3 Japanese electronics companies in Oceania. They were by far the best companies I have worked for (mainly due to our local laws). BUT the conditions for Japanese workers, in these companies, was amazingly terrible. TBF did nearly work for a major Korean electronics company and they had terrible conditions, even here.
It’s pretty rude to ask for tourist money and ask them not to use the infrastructure.
JR is a company of assholes. they bumped up the prices of the rail passes, claiming that it was getting a bit expensive to maintain the rail lines and rising energy costs. can guarantee you that none of that money ended up with any of the employees.
Seems like a place I'd like to visit
You sound Swedish
So you said that Japan opened up to allow their currency to appreciate against the dollar. Does that mean they were keeping their currency artificially low? Or some kind of policies that were a conservative approach vs allowing speculation that could ultimately ruin an economy like the USA does with its stimulus measures?
a lot of this video is incorrect. The tax cuts did increase revenue. The probem was speding wnt way up. 1980 $517.1 1981 $599.3 1982 $617.8 1983 $600.6 1984 $666.5 1985 $734.0 1986 $769.2 1987 $854.4 1988 $909.3 1989 $991.2 1990 $1,032.1
I’ll get to the point, honest. I’ve often found it strange how US states can choose whether to have the death penalty or not, legalise guns or not, choose the age of majority, (some states are scary), or whether they allow gambling, but no control over immigration. You could have a stamp on your passport saying you’re only allowed in the state you chose to go to. Be nice for Japan if they had a version of this. Let people come to deprived areas, bring cash and ideas/ cultural differences and see if it helps an area grow.
Here's a Phineas & Ferb running gag: "Aren't you Gen Zs a little too young for City Pop music?"

dude, the same is going on in europe, people are going back to the 80s eurodisco, it is literally almost the same music genre, it's because since 2010s music became s..t.. 80s, 90s, even 00s were so much better for distincs, interesting music genres.
DUDE - JRE does not run the Tokaido Line Shinkansen trains, they are run by JR Central
I'm a little late to the party, but well done. I've heard too much about "Japan screwed its' economy" from ignorant people.
I moved to Japan recently and I was lucky to find a well paying job with a great work life balance. Thankfully more companies are trying to change this toxic culture but it’s a very slow process and it will take decades. In the coming years Japan and its people will have to face the reality of the many toxic aspects of their work culture (and other aspects of life) which I’m not sure they are ready for. I’m hoping for the best, みんな一緒に頑張ろ!
You are wrong. The decline in birth rates is because men pay pr0stitutes therefore not needing to seek wives Women want to focus on their careers Long work hours

Honestly, MOST companies in Japan have the same issues as these top 5 lists. The only way to have a decent work-life balance in Japan is to work for a 外資系(foreign owned company).
There was Toyota with japanese management here in Czech republic. When I was looking for work at the time, I just asked. Well, unpaid overtimes, quite poor pay, work at weekends, I even think that i would be obliged to "give" my time to them on top of the unpaid overtime - but they had to give 5 weeks of paid vacation, othewise it was pure little Japan. The personalist told me between lines, that I should leave if I value my health. I noped out of there.
And they called me mad when I complained about the Kyoto local transport

Man, Nagasaki is a dream city for me to visit! So many cool things, like the Museum of the 26 Martyrs and the Endo Shusaku Literary Museum! Gonna be in Tokyo in February and even considered flying to Nagasaki for a day but felt that would be too rushed, definitely not a city I want to rush through!
Its amazing how so many people deliberately overlook(some would even deny) Nissan was the first auto manufacturer to mass produce EVs with the Nissan Leaf.
It's the missionary city with historically highest Catholic presence
Bank of Japan had a feud with Ministry of Japan a sort of civil war of "neoliberal financiers vs traditionalist gov. officials", today we know BoJ did nothing to extend credit to productive businesses but funneled credit mostly to speculative assets like real estate. The long run of low interest rates and stagnation was supposed to bring about structural change giving BoJ more power and independence. See: Princes of Yen docu
