I left the US eight years ago at the age of 27, and I've been living in Asia ever since. Mostly China, but also Thailand and Cambodia. I have a better quality of life here than I did in the US. Low cost of living, low crime, healthy food, friendly people, great nightlife and social activities. Also better work/life balance.

My wife and I made a good living. We were able to invest and buy couple of properties to rent out. When our daughter was born however, we decided to move to France for 2 main reasons. First, there really wasn't a work/life balance. I barely saw my infant daughter. The biggest reason for moving was the fear that a major health incident could make us lose everything we worked for. We had good insurance but regardless of how good the insurance is, they all have a limit, beyond which they won't pay. Moving to France has been the best for my family even though I miss some of the advantages of living in the US.

My first job was for $2.75 an hour. I struggled for the first 30 years, then things got comfortable. I always saved 10% of my earnings.

Life was tough for new workers in the 1960's, the 1980's and 2000's. I know a lot of boomers who never managed to buy their own homes and never managed to afford a new car. Gen z's are considered lazy because the ARE lazy.

We hear about the ones that are whining and complaining. At the end of this past school year I attended two senior open houses and both young men had already figured out how they were going to pay for their future education, both had been working during their high school years building up their experience, earning money, and setting themselves up for their future. One decided to go into the trade industry and the other earned a scholarship to go on to higher education. Both have very bright futures ahead of themselves that fit their interests and get them excited about their futures. Many of the high school students that I work with in the summer are actively figuring out how to create a life that will both provide them with a solid income and keep their enthusiasm going about punching in and making the sacrifices needed to make it in their chosen professions. Their are a lot of young people out their that still value work and sacrificing for their futures.

Lazy fucks that parents bought them every thing told them they were superstars when they were C graded students with no social skills and zero street smarts because grew up online ..make a budget...work to make more money level up in your career and like rest of us 1980s millennials....get another job get off social media and quit bitching.....no generation had it "easy"....unless you think the old boomers had it easy....
