Palmer Motorsports Park Counter Clockwise CCW 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance 1:45.2 - Push to Pass
Testing out Mountain Pass Performance's Beta Push-to-Pass Feature on the 2024 Highland Model 3! Instead of current limiting in 90 seconds, now you can set a lower power limit and a higher power limit that is activated via a button on the steering wheel. This video was a ~290kW lower limit and full power for the front straights - giving me runtime similar to that of the outgoing Model 3 Performance. Reducing the lower limit slightly will increase runtime significantly. Just managed to beat out my PB in this configuration from 2021.

We pitted the new 2024 Tesla Model 3 Performance against the 2021 Model 3 Performance! There's a noticeable difference, especially on the top end! Note: The wing adds 1.5 horsepower - yes one-and-a-half horsepower of drag at 100mph. E.g. it made no tangible difference to the results.

The tires make the "difference" on the "dyno" runs
The wheels and tires on the 2021 are worse, for 0-60 performance that is! The uberturbines with the p-zeros are ~4kg heavier and ~60mm less road contact across all four wheels. Having said that, the 2021 power delivery is slightly better during the acceleration period. Also, you need to account for the battery degradation on the 18 model +many other factors. Thus we won’t see a like for like comparison and we should just accept what Tesla tells us!

Should you realign the car after replacing control arms?
Generally speaking, yes, although if you are replacing a factory control arm with a factory control arm the difference is probably so small it won't be necessary.
Damn I have the 2023 M3P and I didn't expect the previous gen to get gapped this hard by the 2024. That top end acceleration has definitely been significantly improved. Might have to trade mine in and get the new one lol.

I typically track/AutoX my ND2 MX-5. Just picked up the 2024 M3P and looking for some info. Does anyone have info on max tire sizes and ideal wheel sizes for the 2024 M3P yet (in terms of tracking)? Any ideas on alignment settings and what folks can get from the highland suspension geometry? From just some backroads I can tell it’s already rolling over quite a bit!
Visit Mountain Pass Performance, lots of info! But yeah, ideal alignment (imo) is -3F, -2.5R for camber. Max wheel/tire without going nuts is 10.5" with a 285 width. Can do up to 11"/305 if you want.
The reaction time of the old performance drive was very bad. Can not see the green light from the POV of the new performance one. The video saying nothing 😬 Also the old one has a spoiler 💁🏻♂️
And to think the acceleration is the least of the upgrades! It now actually handles well around a racetrack from the factory too!
2024 Model 3perf are the beast.
It’s so crazy cuz the older Model 3 is still stupid fast but it goes to show that these small differences make such a substantial difference. In optimal conditions my 2019 m3 performance hit 3.01 seconds with roll out and the fact that the new one is consistently getting in the 2’s and for less money than what I paid back in the day both frustrates me and kinda turns me on lol. Ugh I really didn’t want to want the new one, but now I do. Thanks a lot for the video. U just made me decide to spend another 50+k

I have a 2022 Model 3 Performance, what I like about the new ones are the seats, so much better.
I'm confused wow the hell peak power is "more or less the same" as prev gen when Tesla themselves specifically state that the 4DU delivers an additional 32% peak power over previous gen. You didn't go into Tesla's statements versus what the data is showing so I'm really unclear about this information and whether I'm missing something or if Tesla is overstating the numbers or both.
Basically, the maximum discharge current of the battery is the same. So, even though the peak power of the motor is higher, it's being limited by the battery.
