Our journey started back in the In the fall of 1988, Dr. Sam Emerson, Henry Alexander, and Steve Hand, organized local volunteer musicians and started rehearsing at Barbe High School under the direction of Mr. Hand for a Christmas Concert. The LCCB was organized in January 1989 with the following mission statement: The LCCB is dedicated to contributing positively to the musical environment of Southwest Louisiana by providing an opportunity for contact between and among musicians of all ages of advanced proficiency, by providing musical entertainment to the public, by developing musical appreciation among the public, by providing musical support for community functions, and by fostering the community concert band position in American music. The band now rehearses in the Reynaud Band room, while maintaining an office at Central School Arts and Humanities Center.
