Merry Christmas
I am from India and I can tell you that you will be awestruck with the rich and very varied forms of embroidery you will come across.
I’m off to India in December next year (to a wedding). If you have any ideas as to where I can go for textile inspiration I’d love to know. Fi
@@fionahoughton924 Gujarat, Lucknow, Calcutta , Kashmir have their own forms of embroidery. If you can visit these places, you will be able to see the variety.
Have a fabulous creative break. I haven't been subscribed for that long so I have lots of videos to catch up on. Your trip sounds fabulous!
Happy christmas time and relaxing holidays ❤
WOW!! Trip to GUJARAT!!! A very rich state for this embroidery. I am Gujarati but never been to India/Gujarat. But my mother, aunts and one of my sister, who studied in textiles in Gujarat, has always had lovely textiles and embroideries in the house and I have grown up with it all. Various aunts have taught me creative stuff and passed on their skills to me and I feel so lucky and grateful. India is all about COLOUR and stories and wonderful creative skilled people. Enjoy your trip with your family. I can’t wait to see what you bring back (ideas, colours, embroidery stitches etc) to share with us all. Have a very Happy Christmas and a well deserved break. 🙏🕉️
Have a wonderful Christmas and trip! Can’t wait to see your pics of Indian embroidery!
I am so happy for you!!!!
Have a lovely, well deserved, trip with your mom and sister! It will be fantastic I’m sure! I am truly enjoying the Makers Space, and feel it’s been the most important creative thing that’s happened to me all year. Thank you. Happy holidays to you and yours! 🥰🎄
Have the most wonderful time on the textile trip to India. I have been fortunate enough to have been to India twice, by far my favourite Country to visit! However, I have never been on a textile tour but often look at them online. To have your Mother and Sister with you will be fantastic. I can but look forward to the videos you make, they could be the nearest I get to enjoy such a trip. You will be more than inspired and come home full of ideas and energy. So looking forward to hearing all about it! 😊
Have a beautiful Christmas & I hope your trip is filled with all the magic & inspiration you deserve ✨
Have a wonderful holidays and Christmas. Enjoy very much your trip! We will be here when you come back to hear all about it and continue being inspired by your great work!

Can relate to this so much! Everyday I think I experience some embarrassment or uncomfortable feeling when posting, sharing to socials, RUclips, recording podcasts, doing zoom, talking on the phone, reaching out to strangers 😅 but know I have to do it to grow my business and get out there. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙏
Exactly how I feel! Like you say - it doesn’t really feel like you have a choice if you want to grow your business so at least that means you just have to get on with it!
I totally agree with you about seeing the person creating the video, hearing them speak and just feeling part of what they are trying to achieve. I tend to switch off when videos have senseless music and just hands showing what they are doing as I cannot find anything to relate to on them. I love your videos, I love your concept and I come back for every video, Instagram Post etc. I have recently downsized and am still wondering which box or drawer my craft items are in, so procrastination has set in. I have set myself a task of sorting everything before New Year, so that 2025 is the year I learn how to embroider. In the meantime I am learning so much from you. A Huge Thank You for all you share.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate this and feel completely the same about seeing people on video makes you feel more part of that they are trying to achieve. For 2025 I also have tidying and organising my studio on the list because it has just become such chaos. Tidy craft space = creative mind!
I just wanted to say how much I love what you’re doing! You are so honest, passionate and full of enthusiasm, it’s so inspiring! Keep up the good work! ❤
Thank you so much Paula for this - I so appreciate it!!
I THOUGHT I WAS FOLLOWING YOUR DIRECTIONS BUT YOU DON'T GIVE THE ACTUAL DIMENSIONS OF THE PAPER THAT YOU ARE USING AND THE A.I. TRANSLATOR FOR CLOSED CAPTIONS DOESN'T UNDERSTAND BRITISH ACCENTS AND IT USED "A3" FOR ONE DIMENSION THAT I THOUGHT YOU SPOKE. YOU HAVE 2 TALL TRIANGLES ACROSS YOUR PAPER AND I HAVE 4 SQUARE TRIANGLES? I WISH YOU COULD GO SLOWER AND TAKE A PICTURE OF WHAT THE PAPER LOOKS LIKE WITH EACH KIND OF LINES YOU DRAW. YOUR HANDS ARE ALWAYS GETTING IN THE WAY OF THE CAMERA VIEW AND THEN THE IMAGE BLURS OUT. I REALLY WANT TO MAKE THIS!
A3 IS the paper size, it has its own standard dimensions that you can look up. She then cut it "roughly in half." If she's too fast, RUclips has an option to change the playback speed. Or pause the video.

Rather than painting my own designs, I made some from printed origami paper, using 6 sheets with the same pattern. Scrapbook paper is good too.
Ahh that a a good idea to try scrap book paper
Great video! Thank you!
Big ❤ Eppie!
Thank you Anna!
Absolutely relate! I’m into paper mache
Eppie, thank you for saying all this "out loud"! I've had these feelings of embarrassment my whole life and have come a long way in working through them. I am naturally more introverted than not. Many years ago, I started working on myself, trying to be a better person. One of the things I did (and still do) work on is forcing myself into uncomfortable (to me) situations to get better at being in that specific situation. A recent example is the Zoom meetings. In 2020, when we started communicating more via Zoom, I forced myself to talk each time I was on a call. I've always struggled with speaking in front of large groups of people, especially off the cuff; I've always been embarrassed I might mess up what I was going to say (stumble over my words), and people would think, "What on earth did she just say?". Thankfully, I have a self-deprecating sense of humor, which has helped me in many situations! 😅 Thank you again for discussing this topic, which isn't talked about much but would be so helpful to many! And a side note; I absolutely love the Maker's Space! I have found my tribe and just love all the support and ideas each day! There really are people out there like me! Thank you.
Hi Heather! 👋 I can totally relate as a fellow introvert who feels much more comfortable hiding in the background in meetings! Well done for making yourself speak up. It's definitely a challenge for some of us 😊xx
@ definitely a challenge, but I’m trying!😊
Thank you Eppie. Now I can add embarrassment as an emotion I do feel around not so successful showcases. HA! During a zoom meeting for workshop I am participating in fear came up. I thought, I don't feel feel fear. Then I thought about it more and fear is the emotion I feel before a showcase. Will I earn enough money to make expenses this month or not? For now I'm thinking the embarrassment comes after and fear before. I'll think on it a bit more though.
Sorry for the delay! Totally agree - I feel like I am in this constant cycle of fear, embarrassment, elation, pride - all the highs and lows! At least life isn’t boring haha 😅
I absolutely LOVED this series! Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and insights. I am so excited!!
Thank you!!
Thank you for talking about this. I know this feeling so well. Every time I release new work/have a shop update, try something new, share on RUclips, Patreon, Instagram etc. I really have to push myself to do it - even though I love what I do and enjoy it immensely, you’re always aware that there are many eyes on you and not all of them are kind. It’s particularly hard on Patreon, as when someone leaves they are offered the opportunity to fill in an exit survey, and while many people are very complimentary in the exit survey and leaving Patreon for reasons beyond my control, there are sometimes people who leave a scathing review. Even though I know that I can’t please everyone, it’s still affects me terribly. I’m lucky in that I have so much lovely feedback from people about Patreon and RUclips and everything else, but it’s often the nasty comments that stay in your head. I don’t feel like I’m explaining this very well or in the way that I want to, but just know that I can totally relate to what you’re talking about here.
Some people seem to forget there's a real person at the other end of their comments, I wonder why they feel it necessary to be unpleasant. I hope you can take encouragement from the positive feedback you receive and leave the other stuff behind. Sending you best wishes xx
Thank you for your lovely comment! I’m definitely getting better at dealing with the negative comments. I’ve come to realise that I wasn’t put on this earth to please everyone - I can only do my best and some will be happy with it, others won’t. I think it comes from behaviours learned in childhood, this whole ‘people pleasing’ thing and never feeling good enough/feeling embarrassment. But I think that so many people can relate to that! x
I completely relate to this and I think it is so incredibly human to feel so emotionally impacted when someone decides they don’t want what you do anymore - even if it’s nothing to do with you. 100% those negatives stay with you when positives don’t - I thought I should actually start writing down some the lovely things people say so I try and force myself to refer back to them whenever there is a negative. It’s interesting though how some people forget there is just a person at the other end trying their best. I feel like everyone should have to put themselves and their ideas out there just to learn to be kinder!
I’m so happy that you’ve created this opportunity for us to listen and learn about your creative process. I love it!❤
