Costa Rica to Canada - 8000 Kilometers in Two weeks
We sadly turn our Toyota Tacoma and Four wheel camper around after driving the Pan American highway for the past two years.
We drove from Canada to Costa Rica until we had to change our plans and decided to drive AlL the way back.
In this video Travis documents SoLo journey back to Canada while Linsay does her own adventure in Panama and beyond.
North America is massive, obviously because it's a continent, and to drive from one end to the other is no joke. Travis will drive over 8000 Kilometers in two weeks and across half a dozen international borders, which all have their own unique quirks, like the countries themselves.
Police check points, mountain passes with transport trucks, and roads...

What an epic solo journey. ✔
Thank you 🤙 it was a wicked trip
Oh no. Why is that man wearing the lsraeI soldier uniform at the end of the video? Unsubscribe.
There are no Isreali soldiers in this video. Only us and the wonderful Mexican citizens of Baja 🤙
Talk in miles clown..
Hotel California is not the hotel that the Eagles song is about, actually the Eagles sued The Hotel for claiming that it was about the song. I lived in Todos Santos for eight years…
Thanks for clarifying 👍
@@justtravlin That hotel was built in the early 1940’s…
Awesome build guys! I wish I was that minimal but had to go flatbed myself
It is definitely not for everyone ❤️ it's really choosing the ability to offload over the comfort of a bigger place. Also the Tacoma doesn't have a lot of capacity, so we kind of have to go small. Thank you for your comment.
I 100% love the ability to give internet to those that wouldnt otherwise be able to get it. But for gods sakes, if you're going camping for a few days, just live in the moment and stop trying to have in-tent wifi 😂😂😂
Some people work remote. And it's nice to not have to leave a beautiful spot due to the internet. That is the main reason we purchased this, we can stay out in remote places for much longer. But going offline from time to time is definitely a blessing ❤️
sorry but as you may have found out, the rooster fish is an awful tasting fish.
Haha. Jup! Good looking fish... tasting, not so much. And lots of bones. Anyway, he was probably happy that the stupid foreigners bought it 😂 probably made his day lol
@@justtravlin I was going to say you got scammed by the fisherman but didn't want to rub it in haha
Thanks
You are welcome ❤️
wait, you are locked into a cheaper monthly rate just by shipping the device to someone in mexico and picking it up to use anywhere?
Actually, we had the starlink ordered to Mexico so it's technically a Mexican plan. However, since then the prices have gone up and may be comparable to the rest of North America.
@@justtravlin yeah I got that part. But I was curious if I contacted someone to pick it up somewhere like that, would I get the reduced pricing? I’m going to be paying for the roam unlimited. I travel all of the lower 48 full time.
The pricing went up in Mexico, so you'll have too see if it's even worth it. Not quite sure what the price is in the US or Canada
Greetings from the Yukon! Great video and mad props for handling all those border crossings solo 👏
Thank you!! We will be visiting the yukon next year 🤙 No border crossings needed for that 😅
Great video I love agua verde!! but by no means that is the worst road in baja!!
No indeed!
I've been using the roam for the last three weeks as I travel in my RV around the Carolinas and it's been horrible. Constant buffering and freezing. If you have the least bit of obstruction or it's terrible. My iPhone hotspot was faster than the Starlink connection most of the time.
We also discovered that it needs near perfectly clear skies or there will be connection issues.
Machtig mooi gemaakt. Prachtige reportage..👍
Dank uu, Eddy! Het was erg leuk om België eens door andere ogen te bekijken 🥰 Linsay
Did you experience any issues with the tint while driving from the USA to Honduras?
No one mentioned it at any check point in our travels
@@justtravlin thank you for the reply. Good video by the way.
Welcome back bro. Hell of an adventure.
Thank you! It sure was 🤙
Please stay off our beaches the gringos have just about destroyed them with their RVS and trucks were trying to save them for future generations don't be selfish
Lake IZABAL… Guatemala is the country of Toyota’s pick up! Guatemala has it all… Thanks for sharing lots of interesting information 👌🏽
You're welcome. Thank you for your comment ❤️
Just ordered mine. Too soon to say. But Ive heard a lot of positives
We are still happy with it. Thank you for commenting, let us know how you like it.
Be careful things are changing down here. We have a new government and don't look good.
So we heard. Thank you for your comment ❤️
👍😍😍😍 Great video!!!
Thank you 🤗
Now one of the most expensive places you can go more than the United States.
Yes, it is getting very expensive
Lights for night? , that is a novel use of lights. 🤷🏼♂️
What can we say? We are pioneers, hahaha
We took a 38 Ft motor home as far as San Cosme in 2009. We had shovels!!
The road might be a bit better now. The drive itself is so gorgeous and San cosme is nice ❤️
Baja is not close to 2000 km long. Sensationalizing how vast, empty and gorgeous somewhere and broadcasting it on RUclips will only promote to change that. Get a clue please!
Over two months we zig-zagged through the peninsula and drove approximately 2000 kilometers. Also, we are hardly the first people to drive to baja so we will keep doing what we please ☺️ Thanks for checking out our video!
Mexico is not Central America, its part of North America, Central American starts with Guatemala and Belize south of Mexico
Yes we know. We made a mistake ❤️ Thank you for taking the time to send us a message. Have a lovely day
Great video. Welcome back to Canada. What kind of fuel mileage did the Tacoma get? Hope nothing serious happened.
At best I'll get 450 kilometers to a tank. That's going downhill with a tail wind, haha
being a military driver and maintainer helps to
I have learned a lot from the military 🪖
welcome home
Thanks Vinny 💪
well done and welcome back to Canada.
Thank you 🤙
Cool trip
Thanks for checking it out 🤙
👍
Thank you for the thumbs up!
I took a similar trip in the 90’s you will never forget it.
It has been amazing ❤️
cant continue to view with you calling Mexico Central America WTF
The good thing is, you don't have to. Thank you for pointing out the mistake. We are well aware we said that wrong. We still appreciate you taking the time to write a message and give our video a bump up. Have a lovely day and keep traveling ❤️
Baja California is not Central America it is North America, get your facts straight
You are right! A mistake is easily made. We just happen to not be perfect, just like everyone else.
Nice Build Guys! How about a shower?
Our outdoor shower sadly broke. We will be making a new one ❤️ stay tuned for that adventure 😅
Thanks for the video. Really cool
You are very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to write a comment. We appreciate it!
Much more fun after hurricanes. Trust me! I have casa there
That sounds exciting!
Please stay off our beaches. The gringos have just about destroyed them with their RVS. It's very sad we would like to keep them for future generations.
Nope. If your plan isn’t whale watching, May or October are the best months of the year for Baja .
Maybe next time we'll go then 🤙
@@justtravlinthe weather is beautiful, high 80’s mid 90’s , Fahrenheit. Zero wind wherever you go, the water is warm Everywhere! clear and sunny skies! I have done Baja many many times for several years, all months of the year and for sure , try May or October . Great videos!!! Keep it up and I’ll keep watching for sure!
Zywiec!
Congratulations for traveling off the beaten track! Belgium is such a great country and so badly underrated! Keep finding out about scores of similar hidden gems. You have Mechlin, Mons, Dinant, Lier, you name it, plus dozens of chateaux: Ooidonk, Freÿr, Modave, Beersel, Gaasbeek, Vêves, Walzin… So much to see and do!
There is so much to see!
hello
Helpful video. Debating getting one for road trips, but if it draws that much battery and the price, in typical Elon fashion, varies; it sounds like a hard pass for me for right now. We have ethernet at home for just under $70 a month; so $150 a month to have the luxury of internet for random roadtrips sounds awfully painful. And that's assuming they keep the "pause" feature on the service and don't switch over to a subscription requiring you to pay a monthly fee regardless of use. I thought the entire purpose of Starlink was to provide internet to people globally at an affordable price? $150 is rather astronomical.
I can confirm that the pause button still works as i use it constantly. It certainly is expensive but it is also due to each market its in and who it is competing against. There are many 12v conversions at the moment, and even factory 12v either now or in the future, not sure.

gear down, i did the same thing in BC your lucky. use the engine to hold you back. just helping out
Oh yes, we regularly use the transmission to slow down. The brakes still get a good workout
@@justtravlin that’s great. I almost learned the hard way through the back mountains of BC I could smell burning then I called my wife’s dad who’s a truck driver and he said oh man you need to use your gears treat it like a big truck. Safe travels
If you want thousands of subscribers that may reach millions then come and vist our beautiful country of the Philippines. RUclipsrs gains so much support with the Filipinos.
costa rica looks ideal for overland travelers. Will ther be more updates? I'm confused about the ending.
So many Latin American countries are great for overlanders. Mexico is still the best. And yes, there will be more info coming
I LIKE THE beaches
No Panama or south America? Those signs must be new around Santa Teresa. I've seen people camping by the beaches near Manzanillo and south near La Pais... Hopefully you crossed over to Cabuya and on to Montezuma. There are some great waterfront camping spots there and the famous Montezuma waterfalls.
It took us a year and a half to get down to Costa Rica, we are going to take a break for a bit and get back to the PanAmerican highway. We would like to spend two years in south America!
@@justtravlin Awesome, looking forward to more videos.
