Honda’s better than that. They do everything from generators to pressurized jet aircraft and do it well. I just hope if this happens they are good enough to absorb the bad of Nissan without getting poisoned themselves. Nissan has some huge fumbles recently and Mitsubishi is barely hanging on in the states. They made the Eclipse into a small SUV that no one except rental companies bought. Off-roaders are hot right now and Honda doesn’t have one. They could bring the Montero back through Mitsu as a proper purpose built off-roader to go after bronco, wrangler, 4Runner. Make it simple, no hybrid no forced induction. Triple lock option and an available stick shift. Keep price low and it would prob be a winner. Same could be done with xterra but Montero has a better pedigree

This generation of XJ is pretty much as good as it gets reliability wise the 4.2 is very stout ZF-6 speed is generally excellent as long as its serviced its aluminium so no rust issues. So I'd say its a good purchase. Air suspension can be the only thing that may cause some trouble but generally not that expensive to fix.

Lce makes a rear disk break conversion kit for this truck. Like 1900 bucks.

I bought my 2003 aerio hatchback manual fwd (i wish it was awd ) for 750$ 6 years ago, i love her, shes super reliable and low maintenance. Unfortunately parts are getting extremely hard to get new recently. Scrap yards are cool and all for things like coil springs & suspension springs since the only vendor selling new was directly from Japan for 500$ Thing like intermediate shaft bearings and specific pieces that shouldn't be salvaged from a yard, are starting to bring me on wild goose chase I dread the day in the not so distant future that i will have to reunite her with her siblings to rust away while slowly being stripped for parts

Im just here curious is anyone else got lucky. My buddy just brought me a 2006 with only 135k on it. He got it at the auction for 1400. They told him it had a broke valve. I heard severe clacking when he tried to crank it but this sound is too familiar to me and I told him the timing belt tensionor failed. He gave me a green light to dive in so I removed the timing cover and check position of the cams. Bank 2 was off by 2 teeth so I reset it, replaced the water pump and belt and it's running beautifully. This was the best deal every in my opinion.
