arguably the most complete and concentrated cell of human music known to man served righteously unadorned by a weathered master.
Talk and words are cheap He's the best ever. Nobody else is remotely close
Basketball
Yes. Something beautiful here. Transcendends what we think we know.
Отпевание, уходящей ко Творцу, души... шедевр И.С.Баха и исполнителя. Спасибо!
This is by far my favourite recording of this piece! He adds such color and character to it and it is amazing.
Woah
Not a single cellist on youtube plays the rhythm correctly in the courante. Not one. Tap out 3/4 when the movement starts and you'll see.
He’s just pushing time forward a bit there, which I would say contributes to how he phrases that line. Great musicians condense and stretch time very frequently, especially when playing completely unaccompanied, where it’s more common to play with a sense of rubato.
멋지네요😊 감동이네요~ I was impressive
Didn't know little Johnny Howard could shred on the cello.
Szacunek artystyczny!
Ma perché c'è Bergoglio? Non sarà un prodotto di Soros?
Meus parabéns
2:27 those are some really clean double stops. It really shows that that cello isn't an instrument to shred and hit all the notes. He is playing really carefully.
Love in the air ✋ 5555
By far I prefer Maisk'ys incandescent rendition. Sorry, but this one seems almost flat in comparison (eg 4:08 what a pity how these extraordinary scales are almost skipped under the carpet, in a very mechanical and unconcerned way). Ah, and what has Vezelay's roman catholic style to do with a secular dance written 5 centuries later in a lutherian environment ?
Grow up..can you play it ? Doubtful 🙄
Maisky is very romantic though....
Maravillosa interpretación, música sublime 👏 !!!
only a few of the greatest composers could ever come close to writing this, and Bach shines here with in my opinion easily the greatest cello player ever. But also as any Classical Instrument player of any category. MONSTER
역시 최고입니다♡!!!!
Pyongyang
The beginning of II just gives me chills...damn.
Each note is so clear and concise! Rostropovich is phenomenal
it's redundant to say Bach is beyond brilliant and elevated as one, if not the greatest composer ever, adjoin that with one of the most thoughtful and precise musicians ever to grace our universe. The results are God and Angelic like and, listening and absorbing is a better endeavor and more impact full than any words or description in any language. PERFECTION DOES ACTTUALY EXIST
dislikes and haters need to get a hearing test, and , afterwards a mental examination. Not only is he the greatest cello player ever. Also one of the all time greatest recorded musicians of modern history
Well you know, Rostropovich’s ‘Cello Teacher was his Father. And do you know who Rostropovich’s Father’s Teacher was? PABLO CASALS!!!!!
Sus dedos se mueven increíblemente
This is arguably the best interpretation of this suite.
also Pablo Casals' version
Celestial ...
no need for comments here because there is nobody here capable of finding fault with the greatest cello player in the history of the world. And If you doubt that after listening to his lifetime body of work then. ok
😍😍
😍😍
Superbe !!! Bach + Violoncelle.. le Bonheur !!!
😍😍😍😍
Linda interpretação
5 dislikes for Maestro Rostropovich? I assume they are of failed and frustrated musicians!
why dude
1:15 he makes an error
@@ISAIAHTheBook It's a simple error. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. I'm more impressed that he was still able to play and make the piece flow after making an error.
My favorite interpretation
Ölüm müzikle beraber dağıldı.
I love Rostropovich but this interpretation isn't how I hear this piece, way too romantic and concerto like
Your interpretation is garbage.
Powerful sound

Playing live in an empty church. Perfect setting for covid times.
Best
Ah this so good!
Agreed! 😄
magnifique!
hmm sounds like an Etude. Where's the ornamentation and rubato! Rostropovich I love your playing and you were a great cellist, but man do I disagree with your style of Bach. (sounds like Bach went to Russia for a little while)
