Testing the ikago Heat Coaster Pro
The ikago Heat Coaster Pro is billed as the world’s first smart heat coaster. Pop on your cup of coffee and it’ll tell you the exact temperature of your brew. Then dial in your preferred temp and the coaster will bring your drink up to that temperature and hold it there. And it does it through infrared sensing. But how well does it work? I’ve put it through a series of tests, let’s get into it.

Chemex vs Coffee Genie COLD BREW CHALLENGE
Просмотров 82710 месяцев назад
A Chemex is a wonderful tool for making pour over coffee but rumor has it that you can also use it to make pretty great cold brew coffee. Today I’m putting that to the test, by comparing a Chemex cold brew to a cold brew made in a dedicated vessel - the Coffee Genie. Then I’m serving the brews to a coffee expert in a triangle test to see if he can spot any differences between these two methods....

Why Bloom Pour Over Coffee?
Просмотров 33 тыс.Год назад
If you’ve ever made a pour-over coffee you’ve probably heard “don’t forget the bloom”. The bloom is a process of pouring a small amount of hot water over freshly ground coffee to release carbon dioxide gas that was trapped inside the beans during roasting. But is it really necessary? To find out I’m brewing two pour-over coffees side-by-side. One receives a 30 second bloom, the other gets no bl...

Can You Use Stale Beans for Cold Brew Coffee?
the only rule broken here is drinking coffee from paper cups
Of all the methods, The dish powder or Tablet seem to work the nest which is NOT not surprising because it the same way you normally clean your dishes in the washer ANYWAY> Actually just take a normal coffee scoop of powder and just run it just like making a pot of coffee. BUT fill the pot to a full amount maybe 5 cups, if that is the size you have in your maker. But just rinse it out really good. It should clean the coffee pot machine also really well.
Can I remove the tube from the freezer and make the coffee right away or do I have to wait for the coffee to "defrost" ??
You should defrost, for about 24hours or so.
can you explain running the cold water on the moka pot, when do you do it?
Yes! You can’t beat the Bialetti Moka Express pot. 😊
can u do a vid on the kcup process? i prefer iced coffee so this would be life changing. i can’t find any info on what rr
Loved the ECM Synchronika, but for me it’s the Micra all day. Got the Micra two months ago and am really happy with her. ❤
Works like a charm! Thanks!
Coffee Grinds retention in the dosing cup? Simply for me it is two taps on the rubber mat under my grinder and espresso machine. It all goes in the portafilter. Not sure why you are having a problem.
Expresó coffee preferably is what you want to put in the Moka Bustello Supreme , Cafe La Llave , sello rojo . You’re Welcome Guys . Order these 3 if you haven’t put these in the pot . I’ve had Illy & Medaglia D'Oro Italian Roast Espresso not the same
what is that.....tell me please ...
I am sorry, but I don't think this is an accurate comparison. The filter matters too much. That stainless steel filter should not be used (you can see the difference in color at the end) or at least use a #4 paper filter on top. Right now I am using 2 #4 filters and the coffee is great. Save $20 and get the Bodum.
Get a burr grinder! Your "fine" grind looked like a regular drip grind. Particle size distribution is probably all over the place. Also, pressing on top of your scientific scale just seems wrong LOL
PhD
Don't you clear your palette between tastes?
You're suppose to make a small hole/well in the middle of your grinds, then pour from the center outwards to the edges. But hey, I'm just a commenter who works with beans for a living. 🤷🏻♀️ A nice 3-4 minute pour time is perfect for most. Everything else was pretty spot on - although I'd offer to inform your audience to use a gooseneck kettle for a more even pour. But again, what do I know? 😂😂
it all depends on the husband wants it 😅😅😅😂😂😂
Tyvm for helping this poor woman out! Dont have the 75$+ for a keurig.
Thanks to this video, i heated water to 205 degrees and added kcup coffee. Waited 5 minutes. Carefully removed the bottom by pulling up on the filter and only cutting out the bottom. As I slowly poured, and the coffee built up, i poured it out and continued, about 3 more times. We've been thinking that Crazy Cups just didn't taste that good, until we smelled mildew and realized that we were lucky that the coffee hadn't made us sick! This method gave us beautifully smooth coffee, i wouldn't mind sticking with this method! At least we now have time get the machine filtered and cleaned properly. Thank you for sharing this with us all!
Thank you ❤
I know I am late to this. I have a Bodum and I replaced the original filter with a double wall metal filter and it definitely filtered the grounds better and gave it a smoother taste. I just don't like using paper filters because I am trying to cut down on using disposable items that won't help me save money in the long run. There's a bunch of different replacement filters on the market.
The Chemex comes with filters, they are just under the cardboard bottom stopper in the box.
Basically, the tip is “use soap”
but your machined espresso is not well extracted though
Nice, but paper cups kills the taste imo, you should repeat the test with glass cups. Thanks.
💯 Worked
or simply rub with baking soda while a bit wet, you can finish in 1 minute and its safe. Or a powdery salt, even safer.
I purchased the Bodum first... later I bought the Chemex (with filters)... the flavor its like night and day to me. Took me awhile to get the Bodum dialed in... and it was decent. Got the Chemex with the paper filters, my first batch was great and better than anything I made in the Bodum. I also found it easier to make more coffee in the Chemex for sharing. Everytime I tried to use of 40mg of coffee in the Bodum, result weren't good, so only used it for 20mg of coffee (single serving). In the Chemex I've used as much as 50mg of coffee grins with great results.
Thank you. This way beyond annoying 😂
This was a great video. It really helped. Thanks for making it easy! Enjoyed the Park with you. Very beautiful!
I can 100% confirm that this works a treat.
2:12 excuse me while i roast you as a decade experienced barista but non-burn? from a gas that is inherently at 212f? alright, yeah, fair, water is in fact water, but 'a good job frothing milk' yeah, that's 'frothed' it's not steamed or anything past heated, this machine from what it looks like puts out a piddle of steam so you absolutely have to position the wand and pitcher with precision or you just get flat milk, which is what seemed to have happened here, unfortunate as this machine genuinely seems top of the line, but unable to put out even the bare minimum of steam, i am spoiled as a barista with multiple thousand dollar machines but even the worst could get a decent foam if you shoved it in milk and made it hot enough, absolutely will avoid this brand
It is not steam that would be the issue, when you pour water through the filter and it goes in to the Chemex then the air that is displaced by the water is able to go through the gap that is left by the spout, in the Bodum it would probably struggle, it is nothing to do with steam or condensation, it would just take ages for the water to pass through.
Use paper filter
Soak in bleach water.
Worked on mine!
Nice review. I suggest using product names instead of "this guy or this thing or this one". Watching on phone as most do you are not always looking at screen.
Is the dish soap concentration strong enough to use the solution twice?
Guys that buy $$$$$ the Micra are usually the ones who think they will grow extra inches down there If they buy it. 🙂
if the "expert" has to try so hard then there is no difference between them. also not all people are "tasters" meaning not all humans have the same amount of taste buds. also between tasting he should have rinsed his mount. watch so called "wine tasters" they often get BUSTED and are full of shit
after wetting the paper- explain pour off of the dioxin in the paper you edited it out
16 "parts" water? ounces???? quantify a "part"
paper is filled with dioxins
good video heres my questions and point. 1. paper taste or plastic taste? 2. 16 to 1 ratio? explain this and how to achieve? 3. during tasting the chemx sat cooling off. 4. checm x is easier clean up 5. which won better tase?
For the Chemex, always place the three-sheet side of the paper on the spouts side. Because if you want to pre-wet/rinse the paper, it allows you to drain the carafe.
wait this isnt beer..
They should try it with beer.
Truly appreciated your dedication and candour to the results - bringing-in an unbiased party made all the different
Which machine likely to breakdown first?
Worked great for me on a mug that has not been thoroughly cleaned in a couple of years. The inside turned out like new. Too bad I didn't see this video sooner. Thanks
1:2 bloom ratio for 30 seconds is on the skimpy end of bloom recommendations. On the higher end it is 1:3 or 1:4 and 45 to 60 seconds. Choosing the skimpy end of blooming reduces the difference between bloomed and non-bloomed cups. Repeat the experiment with more generous blooms.
