    I'm thinking about building a split beyboard myself for like 6 months now, but whenever i want to order the parts i sit in front of my trustworthy 10 years old g710+ and think, well thats a good keyboard why have another keyboard 😂 When I have more time i will start tinkering, and will create a complete custom keyboard for the case it will break sometime, but i guess that will take a long time😅

    Can ypu tell, please, how did you make it wired and wireless at the same time? I explored internet a bit on this topic, and some redditors write that if you make a build with a cable and TRRS, technically it still works wirelessly. The units are just powered with the cable. The other problem that people mention is that if you plug/unplug the TRRS cable while the left unit is powered via USB, the controller can be short circuited and destroyed. What is your opinion about this?

I have been binging your channel, Ben’s channel and I also found another one, Joe Scotto youtube.com/@joe_scotto?si=x9B-JNF40Q8X6Dx- He also builds custom keyboards. Maybe he can help! I am going down this rabbit hole now as well. Have been using Keychron K8 for a few years and am super happy with it. how did you managed to make it wired and wireless at the same time? i've been looking into this for a while and i was met with opinion that you shouldn't connect the nice nanos with wire because it causes bugs and odd behaviour, could you elaborate on that one?

    • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn 14 дней назад

      Actually, I just tried and it worked. To be honest, I had no clue that this could not work until someone told me. So far I have no issues. I just turn both off, connect with trrs and then usb-c and it just works. But will continue with wireless for the future with my new builds, since I don’t like wires on the desk anyhow. Just sometimes I have lag/bugs on wireless, wired always works perfect. So if you rarely travel or switch workplace, I would probably go with wire and don’t bother with batteries and stuff.

As far as i know nice!nanos aren't prone to that issue, but im not quite sure about nRF MCUs

      @@filipbudzynski3760 for the corne i use the pushi ble mcu, for the skeletyll the nRF, but their i also use the controller to charge. but not with trrs. so no idea if they would fry while doing this. i would just try it in your case. the controller costs like 6$, so not too much to lose :D if you put in a big battery and no display, the controller holds quite long. i use the skeletyll for nearly 3 weeks now without charging. the corne with its super small battery and display, holds for like 2 days.

    Thanks for the video, Auryn! I'm currently choosing between low-profile split keyboards like the Corne and the Kaly42. What I like about the Kaly42 is the offset thumb keys and the more aggressive pinky stagger. However, the Corne is more popular, which means there is more information, case options, etc. In this video, you mentioned among the cons that the thumb key (shift) is hard to reach. I understand you can't decide for me, but I'd appreciate your advice. How much does the shift key placement on the Corne bother you, and would you consider keyboards where it is offset?

      You’re welcome. The kaly looks amazing. Like the corne with a nicer thumb layout. Not used it before. The corne is nice, love it. But the thumb part is sometimes quite annoying. But for Shift you could just use homerow mods. Case and so on you can print yourself. Anyways nicer 😛 Would decide on availability of pcb. Or you just order one at pcbways or similar.

Than let it soak in water, let the water drip out and put it back on the scale. Now you can measure the 100% wit the sensor. And if necessary, check the status again with the scale.

    I understand, but you will need Wi-Fi for the other features. It's best to split the responsability. Serial activation, Wi-Fi connection l, calibration, data upload. It's better to read l, to understand and to mantain or add new features.

  • @amandioreal2293
    @amandioreal2293 Месяц назад

    Ok, I find some issues on your code inside setup. You have a condition if with false. And than you are checking the Wi-Fi connection outside de if condition. This don't work well. Solution: set first Wi-Fi, then serial and at the end put the condition to set Config. Don't use if(false).

    • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn Месяц назад

      Why first WiFi and then serial? :) Wouldn’t I need first serial for debugging and then WiFi? Or am I wrong here?

    • @amandioreal2293
      @amandioreal2293 Месяц назад

    Your new 3 weed plants will do just fine. Regarding the ESP: people seem to have issues with Aliexpress level quality of them. So if you ordered cheapo chinese clones, that might be the issue already. They love to use garbage parts. Other than that, apparently waking up can be an issue. Seen someone fixing it with a 500ms delay before basically doing anything in setup(). Don't have any of these units though, so I'm just throwing stuff at the wall from my own experience or that of others. if you're using water with fertilizer, you might want to get an opaque hose for the watering. Algae build up can be quite strong otherwise. I also appreciate your own solution to the issue. Everyone is always like "it has been done already" or "you can get something cheaper from china". But I love the tinkering and the experience I get in return. I actually have something similar in mind, just a bit more complicated, as it's basically supposed to automate a whole season (more or less) of indoor growing. Like I said, I just like challenges.

      Ah very interesting. Thank you for the hint. Maybe I’ll try this again. But with the ticker it works quite well atm :) So maybe I just leave it like this for now. Thank you. I will fertilize by hand for now I think :). Also just for the vacation to not rely on people. So during the normal days when I am home, I’ll just turn off the watering and water by hand. Will maybe add this to control from the Frontend as well. Happy to collaborate and add more logic if you are interested in it. This is finally a useful thing I am really using regularly.

    I have a different model, however, I also have problems with controlling and waking it up from deep sleep mode. A function that sends a message as soon as my neighbor can harvest the vegetables would be nice

      Interesting! With the ticker function it now works just fine. Unfortunately it drains more energy, but with the solar I hope it is just fine :D Why dont you want to harvest your vegetable yourself? :D

    I would definitely like another video on it. Maybe a full system overview and what you have had to tinker with more. I'm looking to build something similar for myself, so any and all ideas are nice to see. Thanks for posting these interesting videos!

      Not sure, i think the tlc, need to check :) Bought it from aliexpress. But got the good one i think (was lucky :D ) With the ticker it seems to work just fine :)

    Great project, looks really neat. I look forward to integrating your solution into my irrigation and monitoring system. :) I would recommend treating at least the outer edges of the soil moisture sensor with epoxy resin or nail varnish or similar. On the sensors where I didn't do this, moisture got into the side of the PCB over several weeks, which eventually caused the black paint to peel off the electrodes of the sensor.

    This is great! I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel. I also work with NextJS and postgres and have just built a greenhouse and want to automate everything! I had almost exactly the same idea about using esp32 (thanks copilot :)) only I would like to use water pressure and valves instead of pumps. Really looking forward to following along and I'll be watching the github and contributing if I can. Awesome work.
