    I used the Corne for 2 years and it served me well. A month ago I built a Charybdis with a trackball and it’s honestly end game. It removes the need for a mouse (at least for my use case)

    Can you tell, please, how did you make it wired and wireless at the same time?
    I explored the internet a bit on this topic, and some redditors write that if you make a build with a cable and TRRS, technically it still works wirelessly. The units are just powered with the cable. The other problem that people mention is that if you plug/unplug the TRRS cable while the left unit is powered via USB, the controller can be short circuited and destroyed.
    What is your opinion about this?

    • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn  3 месяца назад +1

      Technically true. That’s is why I turn it off all the time when I connect to cable.
      So off and without usb, and after connecting, I add the usb cavle :)
      But these days I use the skeletyll most of the time anyhow and with the 18650 it holds up very long :)

    dont spend money on batterys. scavenge some disposable vapes from a friend or off the street if you trust them.

      Hey
      Yes, I did this as well, but they mostly have no charge control board.

    • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey,
      i dont have too many issues there. Sometimes the latency is weird from the left to the right, but it happens very rarely and only if many things are between.
      So for me there are no issues in wireless mode.

  • @filipbudzynski3760
    @filipbudzynski3760 3 месяца назад

    how did you managed to make it wired and wireless at the same time? i've been looking into this for a while and i was met with opinion that you shouldn't connect the nice nanos with wire because it causes bugs and odd behaviour, could you elaborate on that one?

    • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn  3 месяца назад

      Actually, I just tried and it worked. To be honest, I had no clue that this could not work until someone told me. So far I have no issues. I just turn both off, connect with trrs and then usb-c and it just works.
      But will continue with wireless for the future with my new builds, since I don’t like wires on the desk anyhow. Just sometimes I have lag/bugs on wireless, wired always works perfect.
      So if you rarely travel or switch workplace, I would probably go with wire and don’t bother with batteries and stuff.

      @@CodingWithAuryn Im more on the side of wireless as well, i was wondering are you using nice!nanos on this build or nRF alternatvies like on the skeletyl? im considering building a split sofle keyboard and have read on the reddit that someone fried his nRF MCU while connecting it to the USB and battery at the same time. As far as i know nice!nanos aren't prone to that issue, but im not quite sure about nRF MCUs

    • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn  3 месяца назад +1

      @@filipbudzynski3760 for the corne i use the pushi ble mcu, for the skeletyll the nRF, but their i also use the controller to charge. but not with trrs. so no idea if they would fry while doing this. i would just try it in your case. the controller costs like 6$, so not too much to lose :D
      if you put in a big battery and no display, the controller holds quite long. i use the skeletyll for nearly 3 weeks now without charging.
      the corne with its super small battery and display, holds for like 2 days.

    I am also in Germany and also got my first split a month ago. • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, so switching is super easy. You can pair up to 5 devices and switching is just a keycombination.
      The changes from (zmk is what i use) are also available everywhere, since the keyboard is just sending the result to the computer, not the pressed keys. Thats how i understood it.

    Thanks for the video, Auryn! I'm currently choosing between low-profile split keyboards like the Corne and the Kaly42. What I like about the Kaly42 is the offset thumb keys and the more aggressive pinky stagger. However, the Corne is more popular, which means there is more information, case options, etc. In this video, you mentioned among the cons that the thumb key (shift) is hard to reach. I understand you can't decide for me, but I'd appreciate your advice. How much does the shift key placement on the Corne bother you, and would you consider keyboards where it is offset?

    • @CodingWithAuryn
      @CodingWithAuryn  4 месяца назад +1

      You’re welcome.
      The kaly looks amazing. Like the corne with a nicer thumb layout.
      Not used it before. The corne is nice, love it. But the thumb part is sometimes quite annoying. But for Shift you could just use homerow mods.
      Case and so on you can print yourself. Anyways nicer 😛
      Would decide on availability of pcb. Or you just order one at pcbways or similar.
