That's a good point about the "Do you want to stop?" voice breaking the 4th wall. I hadn't thought of it like that, but the point in the movie where it's spoken is perfectly placed. Yes, the final act takes things to a whole different level. Yes, it's imbalanced (pun included) with the first two acts. Gross, crazy, and trippy. But I still liked it. To me, it finds its own way of fitting in with the overall story.

8:35 I would vote for Quentin Tarantino, he doesn't care about messages and woke stuff and does his own thing, a Crow movie from him would be quite interesting, definitely better cast and also gory.

I enjoyed your opinion. This was a very impactful filem. It's not for the standard basic movie goer. It's for people that read between the lines and understand words not spoken. I didn't think I was too much like that until I saw this film. It didn't matter why the war started. It only matter who had a gun and who did not. The ending was also a painful reminder of reality. I agree with your 9/10 rating.

I liked the villain played by Danny Huston. He has moments of being creepy. The 2 action bloody scenes were fun. I didn't like Bill Skarsgard and FKA twigs as Eric and Shelly. They don't have chemistry with each other. Their acting was bad. The script needed more work and horrible dialogue. The story was boring and I almost fell asleep in the theater. I can't answer your question because I really don't know who would be a good director to do this movie again.

Can't believe I've been chucking popcorn up in the air for 45 years 😮, Luke. Absolutely loved this film, and yes, it definitely needs another watch. Fabulous in IMAX as well. Bit upset you dissed my Alien v Predator films, but hey! to each his own 😂 Favourite one....tough decision but I think it's got to be the original... So frightening and groundbreaking especially having a heroine and my God..the last scene in the escape pod..the stuff of nightmares 😱

Yeah, i can see why there are no comments and barely 200 views. If you don’t understand why Butcher did what he did narratively then you need to rewatch and analyze the entire season. Him being “irredeemable” is both true and not true and the purpose of it. He didnt kill an innocent person, Nueman was pretty well past redeemable as well. I have a hard time seeing Hughie as the same person who started the season, or even show. Hes the focal point and voice for the Boys to stop handling everything by killing and to give Nueman a chance, something even Hughie became desensitized to. And this season the stuff that happened to Hughie is a set up for S5. The death of his dad, the supe assault’s, butcher etc. Annie, Frenchie and Kimiko did have “repeated” plot points focusing on their past but they were never concluded. None of them ever actually faced and dealt with their pasts and the conflicts they deal with bc of it. I mean Annies whole thing from S1 has been her not knowing who she is or who she is suppose to be. This season brought a lot of their pasts to a close. Annie finally realizing who she should be, how she should be and finally being able to tap into all of her power (a visual that shows us shes finally accepted who she is) And Frenchie and Kimiko finally leaning on each other to carey their burdens and realizing that its okay for them to be together and love each other more than just like family. I feel like very little went into a barely 10 minutes analysis of an entire season. The Boys has been since S1 a slow burn of character, world and storytelling. Each season not much happens in terms of overall plot. But each season they dive into the characters and world of The Boys. Either further exploring the world building, characters etc. Each tv show does not have the same format. Some shows have more plot progressive storytelling where we are seeing a lot more happen story wise. But The Boys isnt that. Its a slow burn to not just show us the world of The Boys and why its like the way it is. But shows us the characters and their inner problems or ideas about the world. How that world affects them and those around them. And how whats happening to those characters is slowly affecting the overall plot and story. A lot more time, effort and analysis should have went into this review. It seems you still dont have a good idea of the characters and their arcs this season. Or the overall storytelling of The Boys and what its always been like. You shouldve at least been able to go into details about the “flaws of storytelling” and the criticisms you have with character arcs besides they were repeated. Most people nowadays criticize something without giving any intelligent or honest criticism. I can tell you like the show, i just think you went into the season without an honest look, and prolly need to go back and watch it 1-8 so you can see more clearly the intention.

I just hate the show for many reasons but I will sum it up into 3 reasons why. However, I had to stop watching the show after episode 5 was released from the amount of times I was stressing over about small details in it. I did watch reviews of the last three episodes so that I am not fully watching them or get stressed out by them continuing on with the dialogue. Anyway, Here are my three reasons. 1) Story writing of the show. They had advertised the show as a murder mystery in the beginning but the mystery of the murderer was already solved in episode one and pretty boldly to the point that I questioned how is this a mystery. I also didn’t like the amount of inconsistencies which is my main problem with the show. Mei goes from vowing to kill all Jedi masters to wanting to go with the jedi to save her name to be with osha, to finally wanting to make Sol pay for what he did. This is me just talking about just one of the characters that we are supposed to have a connection to which felt forced to have in my opinion. I felt no connection to anyone besides Sol for wanting to save Osha’s sister from the dark path until watching the review of the 8th episode. They did him dirty. However, everyone else that died, I had just felt relieved that they died and said in my head “ Great, one less character to be angry about”. The second Jedi master’s death after watching a review of the 7th episode. was just disappointed and made his death fully uncalled for in my opinion because there’s no merit to his death that I say that this was why he died. Just the whole script of the show felt like it had no soul and the actors were just going along with what was written down without a care as to why it was written down like that. 2) Choreography in my opinion was okay but not something I care for. Some people may think that the Choreography is just the fight scenes but it’s the movement and places that these characters take up or the actions that the characters take. I didn’t feel any emotions that the actors were trying to portray out which to me stuck out like a sore thumb when looking back at review and wondering why only one character is moving at all while the others look like they had no command until the character we focused on for that scene addresses them. The fight scenes were okay but weren’t something to praise about in my opinion since some of the fight scenes looked over exaggerated for some swings they did or showed off too many openings that anyone could see in that event but they chose not to take that opening offer up. I also got a problem with the Helmet that the “Sith” uses but it’s again a problem with the writing of how it works and all the things it can or doesn’t do. 3) The reckons that it does with other story beats that it tries to mimic is abysmal that I stopped at episode 5 for that particular reason. The first Sith that used a double ended lightsaber (Darth Mal), Anakin’s backstory of being the first child to be born from the force, the Jedi choking, the inconsistencies with the Sword Styles of the Saber, the age of a Jedi council, the weaponry and just many more but I will stop right there. I just have a problem with reckons so much that I feel like an idiot for knowing some knowledge of a specific thing for it to then get reckoned into being something else or was created way earlier than I thought it was. It’s the same reason as to why I hate huge Clickbait thumbnails, they grew you into information you thought you knew only to then be disappointed with it being something else that is in the different directions. I just feel deceived to have learned that information for it to then be something else entirely. Those are the main reasons as to why I don’t like the show. I may say I hate the show which is still up there but I did like small aspects of it. Honestly, if it gets a season two, it needs to explain itself otherwise it will be an even bigger flop than it already is in my opinion.

Saying that the Jedi is flawed means nothing, everyone is flawed and with that argument you could give any flaw to any character in any quantity and then justify it with "he/she has always been flawed". The question is rather if the flaw you're giving a character is the right flaw to give them and if your choice of quantity of flaw (say being a little greedy vs being extremely greedy) is reasonable. In the case of the Jedi, one criticism leveled against the prequels is that they made the Jedi look incompetent. This show made the Jedi look like complete idiots. As for the Jedi being portrayed as evil, it's more complicated than that. There are relative few who thinks this show portrayed them as pure evil, but there is a sense that the show portrayed them as "shade of grey" in a way that is uncharacteristic for the Jedi and people simplified it by saying portraying them as evil. I will also say that if the Jedi decides to be complicit with Venestra's coverup story, then they indeed will be portrayed as a considerable degree of evil. Venestra flat out is a bad person, if she isn't intended to be a villain but rather an example of "shades of grey" then there is a problem.

Review bombing? All you‘re saying is, you‘re allowed to praise a show by reviews, but you‘re not allowed to say something negative! That‘s not how this works! Disney Star Wars stinks a bit more with every new release. They produced 2 great things: Rogue One and Andor, as well as a few decent things like the first 2 seasons of Mandalorian, maybe The Bad Batch. All the rest is rotten to certain degree!

All the actors did a great job with their acting. It was directed well and great camera shots. Creepy and eerie throughout the movie. The 90's throwback was cool. The director is the son to the late and great Anthony Perkins. That was cool. I didn't like the second half of the movie when they decided to add something and I was getting uninterested with the story. I thought Nicholas Cage's performance could have been better and I wanted more from him. My favorite Nic Cage movie: The Rock.

Absolutely loved this film, and as you know, Luke, it made me jump several times..almost lost my popcorn. A bloody brilliant film, and I can't wait to see it again. PS loved your new assistant, 😺

Hey Luke, just wanted to say firstly phenomenal review. Just like you I haven’t really watched Who since the Tennant era (except for the 3D screening of The Day of The Doctor special) and this been by far the most I’ve enjoyed the show since then. The chemistry between Millie and Ncuti was perfect and although I wish there were more episodes to fully build out their bond so those final scenes hit a bit harder overall it’s been a wonderful return to form. 73 Yards was also my favourite episode and could possibly be my favourite episode of Telly I’ve seen all year, right up there with Shögun, I loved how it blended the horror tropes with a story about hope and learning to adapt and live with your grief and trauma and it’s also superbly lead by Millie Gibson. I also wanted to say that as someone who has followed your channel for a good few years now I’m shocked that your channel hasn’t blown up exponentially. Your reviews are tight and really well written/delivered plus you’ve nailed your format to a tee and you always absolutely kill with the edits too. As someone who did reviews and reactions for a while but stopped due to life getting in the way you are a massive inspiration to pick up the camera and microphone again. Just wanted to spread the love and let you know that even though I don’t always comment i always try and catch all of your reviews as I know even if we don’t always agree I’ll be superbly entertained. Keep it up and have good one man 👍
