    Your videos are a bit long, and I click on them with the intent of fast forwarding through a lot of it in the name of saving time. However, your content is so interesting and so engaging with excellent editing that I end up viewing every single second. Nice work and thanks for the great videos that we enjoy watching from Kenosha, WI

    Very cool video. Loved it! I grew up in Northern Door in the summers and currently live in Illinois. Our current boat was purchased from the dock (I think even the exact slip) you stayed on in Sturgeon Bay (Centerpointe) during that hellacious storm (excellent timing 😬!). We currently keep our boat in Kenosha (Southport). Maybe I’ll look you up next summer when we take a fleet of boats from our marina to Lakeshore state park for Summerfest. Enjoy!!!

    Hi, just found your channel and have watched all episodes, really enjoyed them. I love Absolute boats and am thinking about getting a 52 Fly but my only concern is IPS, I have heard that pod drives can be problematic, what is your opinion of them. Also are you happy with the Williams jet tender or do you wish you had bought a tender with outboard? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

    It was an epic journey, one that I plan to emulate except for several years not just one. Thank you for taking us along and I hope that your health and happiness continues. Such an abrupt ending that left me with one question, why quit? Good luck in whatever direction you decide to go.

      Our journey really occurred over 3 years. The first year we bought a used 50' Monte Carlo 5 and we practiced with it for a summer docking and getting comfortable docking. We sold this boat after the first year because it accomplished our goal to help teach us what we really want and like, as well as give us confidence to buy a brand new boat. The second year we bought the Absolute Navetta 52 new and spent the summer navigating the Lake Michigan for 6 weeks and learned a lot more about different marinas, crossing the big lake, and that we were very comfortable living aboard it. It was the third year that we left on our epic journey to navigate it down to Marathon, FL, and then extend it through the Bahamas. So it may appear abrupt in the video editing, but it was our plan from the start to spend 3-5 years on this big adventure. We'll be back in to boating soon enough once we are settled in a land house again. We are now addicted to boating life. I hope your journey is filled with many great memories too. :-)

    What are the plan for your next boat, are you thinking about another motor yacht or maybe a sail catamaran ?

    • @MV-SullAcqua
      @MV-SullAcqua Год назад

      We haven’t decided yet. Maybe something smaller to do weekend trips, but our focus first is locking down where we will live. From there we can scout out where we can get on the water. We probably won’t do a sailing vessel. Perhaps a power, cat though. 😀 We saw lots of them in the Bahamas-and for good reason. Perfect boats for stability over there.

    Sad to watch your final moments. As owner of a Volvo IPS boat that we usually cruise at 30-33 on Lake Michigan, I’m curious as to whether you considered speeding up through those narrow entries with major currents? Or maybe too shallow to be comfortable with speeding up?

    • @MV-SullAcqua
      @MV-SullAcqua Год назад

      Great questions. Not having navigated them prior, I erred on going slower. I always felt in control though because of the IPS. I can see how shaft/rudder boats without of power (ie trawlers and sailboats) would really struggle.

    Thank you for the great videos. I see you traveled 3252 nautical miles and 364 hours driving, that only works out to about 8-9 MPH? Are those driving hours or engine running hours?

    • @MV-SullAcqua
      @MV-SullAcqua Год назад

      Thanks for the feedback and question. Each leg of the trip ran differently, but much (Canada’s Trent Severn Waterway with many locks and the East Coast Intracoastal Waterway) was ver slow-you just can’t go faster than 10 mph. But other legs were about 15-20 MPH. The hours I referenced in the video are actual travel time hours, from departure to arrival, as recorded on AquaMaps.

    Glad to find this video! As to #2, the motorized tilting antenna/ radar mount-- what is is your Air Draft/ Bridge Clearance before and after tilting? The nice footage of the green bridge-- is its height known? I had been inquiring if it would be possible to hinge mount the entire hardtop support arch and gain feet instead of inches, to optimize ones route options on the Great Loop and elsewhere. Appreciate your insights. Thanks!

    • @MV-SullAcqua
      @MV-SullAcqua Год назад

      I don’t know the height differential-sorry. You can do the entire Great Loop with the mast hinge I used. My highest point is not the mast-it’s the FLIR mounted on the top front. It’s 15”. We got under bridges that were 20’ with no problem (and plenty of room to spare)when I had the FLIR camera off. The lowest Great Loop bridge is 19’7”. Fill the boat full of fuel and provisions and you’ll gain more clearance too.
