My introduction to Geoff was his "far over the misty mountains cold". Fell in love with the first note. He is an outstanding musician. His arrangements are like diamonds, may they be for his solo stuff or Voiceplay. His voice is just like hot chocolate on a cold winters day. Speeking of winter, I love Voiceplays "Christmas don't be late“. It's so much fun watching. But Geoffs "God rest ye merry Gentleman" is just wonderful, too. But you can just check out anything on both channels, it's always damn good stuff🥰

The song that really blew up and made everyone take notice of Hanabie. This is Hanabie's indictment of the Japanese office grind. Matsuri (vo/gtr.) is being buried under paperwork. Sae (dr.) tried to take a break on the roof, but the boss tracked her down. Hettsu (bass) is reduced to being a waitress and getting the boss tea. Yukina (vo) is being harassed by the boss. The ladies are then expected (basically forced) to go to a drinking party after work with the boss. The little "peck on the ground" dance is mocking the fact that you have to bow to superiors constantly making you look like a chicken pecking the ground. The text messages are from the mom (I think). She is asking why Yukina hasn't visited lately. Yukina laments she is being overworked and doesn't have time. The mom tells her to use this simple phrase, "osaki ni shitsurei shimasu" or "Pardon me, I have to go now". Frustrated Yukina delivers it with such force it leaves the boss stunned. In the next video, 'Tousou' (runaway) you find out the boss has been fired for harassment. The high-pitched "osaki ni shitsurei shimasu" line from 'Pardon me, I have to go now' isn't Yukina. They hired famous voice actress, Aki Toyosaki, to do the line reading. She is well-known for voicing Yui Hirasawa in the anime K-On! which is about an all-girl rock band that forms in high school. Hanabie were excited to get Aki for their song. Hanabie, themselves, started their band in school similar to K-On!. Though, they were doing Maximum the Hormone covers and other metal songs. They have a lot of songs about serious subjects, but always deliver that message in an entertaining way. Here's a few song recommendations for you -'Be the GAL - early summer ver.', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy', 'Reiwa Dating Apps Generation', 'Tousou' (run away), 'Otaku Lovely Densetsu'. This is my personal favourite Geoff solo song because he put so much emotion into it... and a load of his range to achieve it... Voiceplay and Geoff have something very special about them... As for cardigans... is that the same as a jersey? Well I like yours! They never go out of "fashion" because they are functional! The guys wear some interesting ones in their Christmas songs (jumpers too!) that you will like! Thank you for your "ramblings" - enjoyable in this world where joy is hard to find at the moment! ⚘️🕊

Yay! I'm so excited you got to sexy Geoff's solo stuff. I was so excited for the 14th because I couldn't wait to see what your first reaction would be. If you want even more of a reason to love Geoff, I recommend his cover of Way Down by Elvis. He's incredibly goofy in that one and there's some rather *ahem* interesting choreography. Then of course I recommend Rains of Castamere if you just want to fawn over his low notes and the costumes in that one look amazing on him. Lastly, cardigans are awesome although "sweater jackets" has a nice ring to it. Now that Christmas is coming up, I recommend you check out VP's You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch, Jingle Bell Rock Mean Girls, Christmas Don't Be Late and Geoff's God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Geoff has been asked about his haircare products several times. In typical guy fashion, he says "whatever Kathy bought." I'm here for any VoicePlay or Geoff reaction. If you want to mix things up, i suggest Home Free, another awesome a cappella group with a fabulous bass singer, Tim Foust. You could compare their versions of Folsom Prison Blues and Man of Constant Sorrow to Geoff's. Home Free still performs Elvira at their live shows, ten years after borrowing Geoff's arrangement of it.

We really don’t mind you pushing VP but understand that you need verity with content. So I will push Home Free as another option. I think I’m to old to say if something’s cool (40’s) but as far as cardigans if worn in combo with jeans and sneakers that’s cool. Also “bow ties are cool!” I hope you get that quote. Cardigans are great, because you can leave them open when it gets too warm, with a sweater you have to take it off and then most of the times it gets too cold 🥶 And as a girl with very long hair I don't want my hair looking like a mess 😂🙈 I'm so happy you liked it, cause I was really anxious how you (as a big Radiohead fan) would see it 😅 And for me, Geoff playing the piano in his videos is another level of "sexiness" 🤩🙈 Geoff sings from bass to tenor 😂 I think when the vocal ranges where distributed he just said YES 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ VoicePlay did a beautiful cover of "Creep" by Radiohead, it makes me cry EVERYTIME 😢

I'm not much of a metalhead. Back in the day I was more punk. But I love the combo of Thrash and Indian mixed with a kind of Rap. (I had to relisten to the part that repeats 'beast' I thought he actually said 'beastie' at first. And I especially liked the beginning guitar or flute (combo?) during the flyover of the tower. And the singer with the long hair's higher voice in contrast to the shaved head's deep speech. This might sound like a weird analogy, but it is almost as if each different 'influence' is a different appetizer on a platter, but that all mesh together.

As far as inevitable Christmas songs go, please try to get around to Geoff's "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" when the time comes. I think he did it 2 years ago? Maybe 3? But it is a truly beautiful arrangement of that song. Come the season, I listen to it multiple days in a row.

"Lush" is a great description of Geoff's tone. He's an exceedingly talented arranger, making every cover both a tribute and something new. As to shampoo, he's said on webchats that he uses whatever his wife Kathy puts on the shelf

I don't do sweaters of any kind. I will wear sweatshirts though. I don't know this song, never got into Radiohead ,other than Creep which most people know. Geoff's version of "16 Tons" is one of my favorites on his channel. Yeah, you're going to love Oogie Boogie when you get to it. lol

But the production of thid Music Video was a bit surprisinh What really pushed this production was the Observation by Babymetal: they have to Flyer now anyway, it doesn't really matter if to japan or germany. If they Flyer now to Germany they can Film there and then come to Japan ready for the preparation of the FoxFest. And it is cheaper than come to Japan, zhen Flyer in a few days to Germany and then return to Japan. It simply takes more Time and more money. But Electric Callboy had no Budget for the Video, only a very few steps of a Script and zhey would have to improvise what zhey could.

Geoff didn't start doing solo work until Covid shut the world down, so he doesn't have a huge catalogue. Doesn't matter, every one is a gem. Usually he sings harmony with himself, this is only one with no other vocal. Looking forward to the next one.

I don't have a keyboard here to check. But it sounds like he is doing glottal onsets down around A1 and shooting up to about a B4 in that chorus section. So, what, 3 octaves and 2 semitones(ish).

I hate it when people put you down just because you've only just discovered something amazing. For me it was roughly 4 years ago for Tina S. ( So I was late to the party too but who cares.) And yet her 1st video (when I think she was 13) playing Eruption is a "close your eyes & see if you can tell the difference to Eddie's original." I like to imagine that she met a new boyfriend who took her home & said "Do you want me to teach you how to play?" She gives him 10 minutes, then he faints when he hears her. She did disappear for about 5 years with some saying she'd died which was just a terrible thing to say. She has a new band & boy does she look different. And she plays at about 20% of her capability with this band. Someone here may remember the name of her new band, sorry but I've forgotten. It's kind of radio friendly & would appeal to a wider audience. And I believe she has a 4 song E.P. on sale already. I believe she could play for any band as lead or rhythm guitarist, she's just got natiural amazing ability. So ignore trolls, they are the ones who look stupid. And enjoy Tina.

Thanks for another reaction to Geoff's solo work. Everything is wonderful whether it is Geoff solo or Voiceplay. The way that Layne and Geoff and Eli arrange music is very enjoyable....so much skill. I love the way they honor the original music but make it their own when they each arrange. So, so talented! We all understand the exception for VoicePlay and Geoff. So many of us fell headfirst into their rabbit holes and have no desire to leave. VoicePlay should be releasing a new video any day now and it is wonderful. Cardigans are warm....you need to be comfortable.
