The Vermont Long Trail 2023 (Week 3)
#longtrail #vermont #greenmountains
My name is Tony. I enjoy long walks along the trail, love tree burls, and have a squeaky backpack.
I thru hiked the Long Trail over 21 days during July and August 2023. This video captures my third, and final, week on the trail covering mile 184 to mile 273, from US Route 2 to the Canadian border.
I almost cried when upon returning home, I discovered my camera settings were inadvertently adjusted, resulting in footage quality well below my expectations. Washed out colors at times and grainy footage in low light. It took a while, but I’m over it. I made adjustments during editing to improve the quality.
I take time to record and edit these videos so one day...

      @twotonadk just got back from backpacking App Gap over Camel Hump to Duxbury NOBO. I must say it was pretty traumatic. Burnt Rock was tough, but that Rsvine Ladder was traumatic. I cannot believe I even did it. I am still having nightmares. That entire 20 mile section was very challenging gjng and difficult. Next, I will be hiking from Duxbury over Mansfield. I skipped mile 1 to 100 NOBO, because I plan on hiking the AT next March. So now I have completed miles 100-181. Anything coming up that is as scary as Burnt Rock and Ravine Ladder? I'm terrified of heights and hanging onto to ledges. Lol. Steep is fine.

    • @twotonadk
      @twotonadk Месяц назад

      @@KatieValleyBourdeau if exposure bothers you, the ravine ladder is probably the worst because you have to go down the ladder heading NOBO. Three are more ladders and bunch of Mansfield, but you’re climbing, not descending. If exposure bothers you, that makes a HUGE difference in comfort. Really enjoyed your series. I'm planning an LT thru hike in July this year and this is making me more excited. What's your tent and tarp gear at 20:22? It looks cozy.

      I have been using the same LL Bean featherlight one man tent for a decade. They no longer make them. I have thought about upgrading to something slightly larger, but haven’t.🤷🏻‍♂️ The tarp is a Kammok tarp. Using the tarp gives me a lot more space for storage and to cook when it’s raining and there is no shelter.

    I so enjoyed your series..The issues with your camera were not at all noticeable..I knew you are an ADK hiker by those boots. Cheers!

    Hey Tony, thanks for sharing your experience. Outstanding all around. I hiked that final section at my UVM trek before freshman school year started. Good memories seeing familiar sights.

      Thank you. It was quite the experience. As much as I love the Adirondacks, Vermont is something special! and unique!😁

    Thank you for taking the time to put these videos together. It brought back a lot of memories from my 2019 thru. Long Trail is something else and you did a wonderful job showing it off. See ya bak in the ADK sometime.

      I am lucky that I have probably a dozen friends from work or my neighborhood who enjoy backpacking and hiking. I have met a lot of friends while backpacking and hiking as well. I’m a lucky dude I guess.🤷🏻‍♂️😁
