Excellent videos with impressive editing of an epic trek. My sister and I finished the NPT on 9/28/21. Bob Jenny is such a kind and generous man, helping hikers with rides and storage of resupplies. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us, Tony.
Wow, what a journey. When I saw the elevation it reminded me of how that zig zag line can also be our emotional ups and downs with such a strenuous and grueling hike. Excellent accomplishment and also a great job editing this adventure so we can experience it to a degree with you. You're an inspiration, and thank you for the help you have given me in preparation for my own Trans Adirondack Route hike beginning this Friday.
I have been thinking about this route, non stop, since you first published your first two videos. I think it would be acceptable to hike to the end of the and meet up with the Long Path, which is a road walk, from Northville to meet the Blue line, 10 miles out. Watching your bushwhack off the NPT to the French Louie trail is painful and deffiently type there fun. Trying to find a trail that once existed is hard and then the rain makes it worse. What do I admire is your bushwhack skills and the ability to get there. That takes a lot of determination and skill.
@@twotonadk I definitely agree with you that the Bushwhacks keep you on your toes. I have only done them in Geocaching and never as part of a route. I definitely think the trail is open for interpretation, but anyways congratulations. Your my new favorite RUclipsr, in the Adirondacks. My other favorite is ADK Woods Walker.
Boomerang has been found! 😆😆😆 There was a little bit of mystery of what happened to you. I couldn’t connect your real name in the finishers list to the Boomerang in the trail registers. I was trailing you and Professor Twinkletoes in the register and enjoyed seeing your two names along the way. Hope all is well brother!😁
@@twotonadk That is awesome. I followed PT the whole way, like a day or two behind. The last day I hiked overnight on a 35 miler in pouring all day cold rain and finished pretty beat up. So much mud I had to end the suffering haha. The route was kinda hard in the last 60 I thought on those muddy snow machine trails. The road walks were fun in the fall. Would be brutal in the summer I would think. I did a lot of roadwalks in town on my AT thru during covid because nobody was picking up hitchers so I was kinda used to it. Plus I did the C and O footpath from DC to HF WV in November '20. Most of that is basically flat paved. I wore Asolo Fugitives and Darn Tough. Only setup I use. I havent had a blister in like 3000 miles. Every time I stop I take off boots and socks. That is pretty neat we hiked same time. I think I finshed Oct 4. Can't remember.
Thank you sir. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I enjoy video editing and figured this would be good resource for folks considering this trip. As with any representation of reality, the highest of highs weren’t captured well because I was soaking it in and the lowest of lows wasn’t captured well because I was too distracted by my misery!😆
The Pillsbury Bay whack was my favorite, but man you were right, you got really kurfuffled in there. I was waiting to see if you would mention going through that wet, wet vly on C8 just before Stewart's Dam. The water gurgling and bubbling up through the moss was comical, to say the least. Thank you for sharing your experience. This has actually made me consider giving it another go. I never wanted to section it and was disappointed when I cut my foot open badly.
What an EPIC Journey! I loved all of the episodes but this one covered an area I plan to visit this Spring/Summer. I also plan on stopping by the CL#3 lean-to since it is close to a Louie artifact I want to hike to. For the life of me I was wondering why you would want to bushwack to Whitney Lake from that lean-to since you ended up hooking up on the NPT to Spruce Lake again but I guess that is part of the designated TransAdirondack Route. That bushwack is in the middle of nowhere! A good place for someone with lesser skills to get lost and hard to find! That foot was knarly but being wet most of the day really softens the skin, glad you had a med kit to do some doctoring. You are an INSPIRATION my friend! BTW is that missing bridge on the NPT between the French Louie trail and Spruce Lake?
Thank you for the love and positive words my friend. You are correct, the Whitney Lake is part of the “designated” route. Those boots were the worst gear purchase of my life! Lol That combined with all the rain were a recipe for foot disaster!😆 The missing bridge is between French Louie and Spruce Lake at the Sampson Bog outlet. You can easily cross downstream unless it is a raging torrent. Good luck on your adventures!😁
I completed the Trans Adirondack Route in 2020, and wrote an article in Adirondack Life about it. However, I did bike the road sections and did a few personalizations, so I technically am not counted by Eric Schlimmer.
TOPOS trail venture. Awful. I sent them back to REI and got my money back after 240 miles of wet feet! I tried them on in store and liked the fit. I took them on a weekend shakedown trip prior to my thru hike without any issue. Day 1, sunny day and I step in puddle and feel my foot get damp. The soles failed and began peeling off boot!😂😂😂 You can see my 1 star review with photos on the REI website.

Very good. I have a reputation of making drastic footwear changes prior to longer trips of mine…that generally result in disaster out results!😂😂😂
Bad. Ass. Congrats! Fun to watch along and a great resource for future research and planning.

Thank you, great series! I’d love to see a video on the bushwhacks... how you planned and navigated.
Erik does a good job describing the bushwhack sections now the guide book to get you started. After that, GPS, paper map, and CalTopo were my tools.
