Taking the boat out for THE FIRST TIME
Hi everyone, thanks for watching! xo
In this episode we took Mon Rieve (the sailboat we've been working on, owned by our good friend Gordon) out for a motor around Two Rocks Marina, Western Australia. This may not be a big deal to most but as she's been on the hard for the last seven months, it was such fun finally taking her out. Gordon designed and had this yacht custom built 30 years ago in South Africa. After sailing it across the Southern Ocean, he spent years refitting her and keeping her in pristine condition.

How To Have The Perfect Wedding In Bali
Просмотров 5925 лет назад
After over a year of wedding planning, we finally have our perfect traditional wedding in a tropical paradise. Everything was perfect and we cannot thank everyone enough for making it so special and travelling all that way to be apart of our day.
Vague and unhelpfully video.
So you’re idiots. Got it.
shes the next jesica watson on god
why did you marry gay shrek
You are crazy just a bit if you are not a hugely talented skilled person better have deep pockets.
2 kids with no clue is what im seeing
you was never screwed over, what he got the boat for is nothing to do with you, it seems you got a cheap boat bit of work and know how would of been back at sea
any fool can buy a boat but so hard to sell one !!!!!
4 years ago? why haven't you posted since? i pray that y'all have completely broken up and started your separate lives anew! are you still sailing? alone, or with someone with more bright
news?
Yes, every day of our lives is a learning experience. We learn from others and we learn by our mistakes and mistakes made by others before us. Always keep an open mind and when someone offers a helpful suggestion, be thankful. By the way, what is the name of the musical score and/or artist midway through the video? Thanks and good sailing to you!
Looks like this channel is abandoned, but on the off chance you see this, what happened to you and your plans? Also what was wrong with the boat?
where are yall?
Thanks for the heads up guys, we also are in our new marriage and are looking to buy a 35 foot 71 Coronado and your video was so helpful.
Well done, for realising your dreams weren't going to happen with this boat! And having the common sense to act on it... Just a thought. Small boats get used much more often than big boats.
What happened? How come you guys aren't posting anymore
So what the fuck was the problem
You guys don't have "The Eye of the Tiger!" Based on the accents you missed The Rocky Balboa era. Sorry you missed out on that. 😢😂
Dont get invested, they quit after their first time at sea sailing
HELLO, what happened to our happy Sailers? No updates for such a long time? Let us hit the water for a sail
When it comes to an old boat plan on spending at least 75% of the purchase price for fixes, upgrades etc. in the first year. Rigging, sails , engines and electronics are expensive. And GET A PROFESSIONAL SURVEY.
I cringed when I read ferrocement
Where did you guys go? Give up the dream?
Get a survey all the time .
Having a third person completely emotionally detached help look at stuff before buying helps. I learned this house hunting. Keep looking at boats. Look for flaws. You will get better and better at it and learn the market better than a pro. Mistakes where nobody gets hurt are small potatoes
3 money pits exist in life. Boats, Houses and cars.. in that order. Rough rule of thumb for estimated maintenance costs on a boat annually is 10% of the original value per year. Going to be a couple grand in bottom paint every couple years. for a couple week haulout you can expect to pay 1000$-3000$ just for the haulout and storage. Be prepared to spend thousands on any boat you get! BOAT- Break Out Another Thousand.
You have go to do considerable research and don't ever buy a boat without a survey
take ‘em to court!
Welcome to sailing
Has to be said. What a pair of idiots. Unfortunately very typical of most under 30s in the uk today…
Its all a long learning curve. Like anything take your time and enjoy the ride. At 56 and 70- 80 000 odd ocean miles under my keel. I ended up living halfway around the world in a foreign country. You just never know where your adventures will lead, I'm still learning and still enjoy it.
where are you at now ?
What happened next? Covid?
You sold a condemned boat to someone else?... you did tell them, right? lol
Great video!!! I'm really glad I watched this I'm looking at sailboats and I know nothing so great video thank you
Spring line is how you keep them moving back in forth
This was in my recommends and is two years old. First thing I noticed was that these two got some awfully nice comments from viewers, sorry I can't be one of them, and yet not one reply to any of them? Not a great way to develop a channel nor develop any monetary future.
I wish someone would have told them that they were making a horrible decision. 1. They really have no idea, 2. They really have no experience, 3. They really have zero skills.
This was the biggest rant about something I have ever seen, without actually at any point saying what you were ranting about. I kept waiting for the video to say anything useful about what it was about, but it just never happened. In the end it didn't say one that that was wrong with the boat. Or what you did. Did you buy one one, thinking it was great, and it ended up actually being trash? But then had a hard time selling it? But then did sell it, and bought another boat that was smaller but nicer? You didn't say any of that; that was all just my assumptions from various remarks in the video. Or was it all one boat and you never got a new one? Or what?! What happened? What did you do?! You got everyone's attention than literally ranted for the whole video without saying one actual thing you were TRYING to rant about. I am baffled.
Thanks for video. What is your nice, big boat type and size? Looking very expencive boat.
How did You inform the new buyers and deal with a lower sale cost. Hate to see your hardships passed on.
There is a difference between a dream and an obsession. Learn first. Save your money. Never be in a hurry. Recognize that you need to have the same amount of money to spend on the boat that the boat costs (minimum). Anything you want done right will cost ten times what it costs to do it yourself (if you know how). Analyze what you do, admit mistakes, plan to avoid these mistakes, recognizing that you will make other different mistakes.
He saw the man bun and knew you were idiots.
Nice video! Just found yall!
Watching this 3 years later and looking at the comments knowing that the boat was actually a condemned disaster feels sad 😢
I guess that was the end of that channel.
Are you guys going ok? I really want to know if you're ok. Please respond 🙏
Going well I hope? Went out on SCUD Sunday last week. Looking forward to updates from you two
That's a nice boat. That should make it around the world. Congratulations! Sailing UMA has some great videos on what equipment you need to fully outfit it.
Ferrocement is a deathtrap! There are good reasons ferrocement boats are no longer made, or ferrocement used for structures ashore.
