Visualizing the Cause of Wildfires
(Updated version). This data comes from the National Interagency Fire Center historic wildland fire open data. Prescription burns were removed from this dataset for the purpose of this map, along with fire records showing no cause of ignition, since cause was a large part of this map’s design. Although the dataset includes Hawaii and Alaska, they were removed for this particular map. This map was created for the purpose of educating in animated cartography and mapping only, and should not be used otherwise. I will be pursuing the entire dataset, including prescription burns, Alaska, and Hawaii. Thank you for viewing. If you liked the previously posted version of this map, please give this...

    How did you get the building shapes? can u import form shapefiles to illustrator?

    • @SarahBell
      @SarahBell 2 года назад

      Yes, you can import shape files into Illustrator with a plug-in called ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud. There are other ways as well, such as exporting a map from a GIS software. The plug-in is very convenient though.

    Hi Sarah, great video. I have a question : how did you get the vector layer of all the buildings ? Did you import it from Arcgis ? or created it manually in illustrator ? thanks !

    • @SarahBell
      @SarahBell 2 года назад

      If you use ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud, you can search for online building data directly via the plug-in (while in Illustrator). You can also export a file, such as AIX or AI, from a GIS software after adding the buildings to the GIS map. AIX is a format that you can create with ArcGIS Pro, and this file format can be opened in Illustrator if you have the Maps for Adobe plug-in. Highly recommend!!
