It's it's amazing that they can't share the clip in him narrated because William regal is full of shit... He tries to make it sound like Bill didn't know what he was doing... He was taking shortcuts with Bill hard hits.... William regal what's taking shortcuts and trying to rough House Bill Goldberg.... And Bill Goldberg whipped his ass...

This is another Alex Wright vs Paul Roma match. While I can believe that they were told to have a competitive match, the powers that be were asking for a "Goldberg mostly dominates, but Regal gets in some sneaky offense through experience and cheating." Right from the get-go Regal was the guy who got in most of the offense. Goldberg was obviously confused and didn't know what to do. The most telling thing was when Goldberg was trying to whip Regal and he just stopped and gave him a shoulder block right away. He went into business for himself and it was pretty unprofessional.

  • @KeqingMain8

After watching the match, I believe Regal. Goldberg's moveset is designed for a 90 second match. Guys like Regal and Bret Hart can wrestle almost anyone and put on a 5 star match but all Goldberg was familiar with was squash matches that made him look good. You can see in the match that Regal tried to work with Goldberg. Goldberg was most likely clueless because he always led in his squash matches. The agent goofed because he didn't communicate things properly to Goldberg and kept his head down when Bischoff was angry about what happened. No one communicated and that was the problem.

That little kick to the head Regal did is something ive seen him do to countless people. Later in the match, when Regal was in the headscissors, it looked like another head kick was coming but Goldberg got his arm up and Regal didn't do it. By taking that little foot tap, Goldberg learned not to leave yourself open for cheapshots when wrestling a heel. Just like Brett Hart learned not to wrestle people that don't know what they are doing when Goldberg mule kicked him in the temple.

I like Bill. Other than him being a bit of a braggert at times [which he has every right to be], he's always seemed like a good, stand up dude. Saying that, when it comes to this incident, I have to go with Regal's story. They strapped a rocket to Bill's hindend, the first day he walked in. Without him ever having to pay any dues. Needless to say, he was spoiled long before the Regal match took place. He's also got a record of hurting guys. His anger about this is childish. The same way Brett's anger toward Bill is. Bret's anger at Bill though, is alot more justifiable, than Bill's anger at Regal is.

Why did people even hate this match? We got to see Goldberg do some actual moves, and even though they weren't perfect, we got to see that side of Goldberg. Regal "exposed" what a cagey old wrestler with a history of quality matches could do against Goldberg... but at no point did I think Regal looked like he was going to win. All that happened was that Regal managed to be competitive for a little while before he got destroyed. But later on, if Goldberg was wrestling a guy with some wrestling pedigree, there was a formula here where the audience might have believed a good technical wrestler with some dirty tricks MIGHT have a chance. I like this match. It was something different, and surprising, and I didn't think Goldberg was weak.

One thing to keep in mind that Goldberg was a product of the culture at that time. The guy made his debut on a red hot nitro show. The match isn’t bad at all, and that was all thanks to Regal. Goldberg referred to himself as “a piece of clay” but then blames regal for retiring to make himself look bad. Just take it on the chin and admit that you froze, no shame in that.

  • @seangorman3959

Goldberg thought he could come in green and steamroll everybody, and no one would fight back. Then he complains about getting kicked in the head after ending Bret Hart's career from a kick to the head. He was limited and Regal gave him his best actual match to that point, but Bill just wanted to no-sell and win in 90 seconds. What a clown 🤡

I don’t side with either because it was a great match! Regal made Goldberg look like a legit wrestler. He didn’t embarrass him, the final product served Goldberg well he came off great. It was Goldbergs best technical match, he was doing counters, scissor locks, and take downs. Definitely find and watch this match online.

Watched the match. Regal is only right in that he had to carry the match. That kick to the back of the head was done with far more force than when Goldberg kicked Bret Hart off his back foot, leaning back. That kick by Regal was a liberty that I did not see at the time when I used to watch. A druggy who is held down in the company, probably did that on purpose
