Obviously the “John” story is in the past. I believe God’s word and He knows exactly what and who to use to bring about change in our lives where we need growth. But I don’t believe which I think is a bigger problem is that “Christians “ misuse and take out of context what the Word is saying. That does mean we need to allow people to mistreat or take advantage of us. I wholeheartedly don’t believe that God wants His people to be doormats and passive for the sake of being a “Christian “. We have to use discernment for each situation and there may be times when we need to speak up or out and times when we need to just be quiet. With the friend situation, if there was a genuine friendship, wouldn’t that have allowed the space to effectively communicate your feelings of being offended and offered each other the opportunity to express feelings and concerns vs not saying anything?
