    Ok we got Tuatha de Danann pronounced as “Two Ha Day Danann “ but how do you say the sons of Donn? Tuatha De ??

    • @MythMinimus
      @MythMinimus Месяц назад

      Thats a great question! The term 'Tuatha Dé' comes from Old Irish and literally translates to 'Tribe of the Gods' or 'People of the Gods.' It's actually a shortened form of 'Tuatha Dé Danann,' meaning 'People of the Goddess Danu.' This group is one of the most significant in Irish mythology, often portrayed as a race of divine beings with great powers. Now, regarding the 'sons of Donn'-Donn is actually associated with the Milesians or Míl Espáine in Irish, the legendary ancestors of the Irish people, who are said to have come to Ireland and defeated the Tuatha Dé Danann. The phrase 'sons of Donn' refers to the descendants of Donn, the ancestor of the Milesians, not the Tuatha Dé Danann. So, while 'Tuatha Dé' specifically refers to the divine race, the Milesians, which include the 'sons of Donn,' are considered mortal ancestors of the Irish. It's a different lineage in mythology. The terms are connected through their roles in Irish lore but refer to different groups with different origins. As for the language, 'Tuatha' means 'people' or 'tribe,' and 'Dé' is the genitive form of 'Dia,' meaning 'god.' The language has evolved over centuries, but these terms have ancient roots in the Old Irish language, which was spoken between the 6th and 10th centuries.

    • @MythMinimus
      @MythMinimus Месяц назад

      If you're interested in the Milesians, there's a lot of fascinating history and mythology surrounding them! The Milesians, known in Irish as "Míl Espáine," are considered the mythical ancestors of the Irish people. The name "Milesians" comes from "Míl Espáine," which means "Soldier of Spain." According to legend, they were descendants of a warrior named Míl, who led them to Ireland from Spain after many adventures in other lands. In the mythological cycle, the Milesians are the last of several groups to arrive in Ireland, following the Fir Bolg and the Tuatha Dé Danann. The Milesians are said to have come from the Iberian Peninsula, though some stories suggest their origins might even trace back to Scythia (a region covering parts of Eastern Europe and Central Asia). After a long journey, they landed in Ireland and fought the Tuatha Dé Danann, eventually defeating them and taking control of the land. This victory marks the beginning of what is considered the Gaelic Irish people. Their story blends elements of myth and history, symbolizing the final wave of settlers who established the Celtic culture in Ireland. The influence of the Milesians in Irish mythology is profound, they represent the mortal ancestors of the Irish, tying the people of Ireland to a noble and adventurous past. If you're interested in how tales and history intertwine, the story of the Milesians is a great place to start!

      Hello @kimashton2053 👋👋 Thank you so much for your kind words about the artwork and the story. I appreciate you taking the time to point out the incorrect pronunciation of Te Reo. As someone who isn't a native speaker and not particularly skilled with languages, I rely on the feedback from knowledgeable viewers like you to improve the accuracy of my content. I wanted to let you know that I use an AI narrator for my videos, which sometimes leads to pronunciation issues due to the limitations of current technology. However, I'm hopeful that as AI continues to advance, we will see more multilingual models capable of correctly pronouncing diverse words. I also wanted to mention that one reason this video might not be getting as much traction is due to a copyright claim on one of the songs used. While it doesn't harm the video directly, it does affect how widely RUclips promotes it. In the future, I plan to re-upload some of my less successful videos, possibly with added animations and improvements. Thank you again for your valuable feedback and support! I hate to burst your bubble but the reason why they knew about Sirius B is a white dwarf used to be a red giant. Dee du dee😮

    • @MythMinimus
      @MythMinimus 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your input! You are correct that Sirius B is a white dwarf, which evolved from a red giant. The fascinating part is how the Dogon tribe, with their ancient traditions, had detailed knowledge of Sirius B without access to modern telescopes. To provide more context, the process of a star like Sirius B evolving into a white dwarf involves several stages and occurs over billions of years. Sirius B, which started as a main-sequence star, expanded into a red giant after exhausting the hydrogen in its core. This red giant phase lasted around 1 billion years. Eventually, the star shed its outer layers, leaving behind the hot, dense core we now see as a white dwarf. Astronomers estimate that Sirius B became a white dwarf approximately 120 million years ago. Therefore, the Dogon would not have witnessed this transformation in recent history. The intriguing aspect is how the Dogon tribe knew about this white dwarf and its properties, passed down through generations. Their knowledge remains a compelling subject for researchers, highlighting the intricate astronomical understanding ancient civilizations could possess. As a reminder, this is a mythology channel, and while we share these fascinating stories, they should not necessarily be taken literally. @MythMinimus I confess I was busy when I saw this video and didn't give you the attention you obviously deserved. I appreciate your kindness to me and your open mindedness. The 120 million years is deceptive all we can for sure is it's been a white dwarf for at least 5k years. If word of mouth for 10k years is all it is, that's amazing in itself. I subbed you after your first response and I will definitely give you a listen.

      Thank you so much for your thoughtful response and for subscribing to the channel! Your engagement truly helps us grow and create more content for our amazing community. Your recognition of the complexity and nuances in these topics is greatly appreciated. The transformation of Sirius B into a white dwarf about 120 million years ago is indeed fascinating. While it's true that we can't be certain of exact timelines over such vast periods, the fact that the Dogon tribe has preserved such knowledge for thousands of years is truly remarkable. We value all the knowledge and opinions shared by our community members. It's through such discussions that we can explore different interpretations and gain a fuller understanding of our past. In the middle of the lake is an island.the snakes all stop at the water's edge.suddenly a huge shimmering rainbow coloured serpent appeared. scales shining with shimmering light.almost looking like gold in all together.The serpent coiled upwards in the middle of the island.Standing up presenting itself. All snakes rose up ,and opened their hoods and bowed. Being a witness to this event.The feeling is unexplainable.pure bliss and enlightenment.

      Hi @bernardmolloy6241 Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts! It’s incredible to dive into the deep history of Irish mythology and the different groups that played a part in it. The Fomorians are often seen as the ancient stone age people of Ireland, representing the raw, untamed forces of nature. Their stories are some of the oldest in Irish lore and they really capture the wild spirit of the land. The Nemedians, who arrived around 2500 BCE, brought significant cultural changes with them. They’re believed to have come from the Pontic Steppe, introducing the Proto-Indo-European language to Ireland. It’s amazing to think about how these early migrations shaped the cultural and linguistic landscape of the region. Then we have the Fir Bolg, arriving around 2000 BCE from Southern Europe. They brought the Proto-Italo-Celtic language, adding yet another layer to Ireland’s rich history. Each wave of people added their own unique touch to the evolving story of Ireland. Your insights really help to highlight the complexity and richness of Irish mythology and history. Thanks for contributing to the conversation and sharing your knowledge! we hope you have an amazing day ❤️❤️

      Thank you for your comment and for raising an important point. My channel focuses on sharing the rich and diverse mythologies as they have been passed down through generations, presenting them as stories rather than historical facts. Each Aboriginal Nation indeed has its own unique creation stories, and I deeply respect that diversity.The aim of my content is to immerse viewers in the narratives and cultural richness of these stories, rather than providing a detailed historical analysis or educational breakdown. For viewers looking for a more fact-based approach, channels like @SeeUInHistory offer excellent content. My goal is to honor the storytelling tradition by sharing these myths in a way that captures their original essence and intent. Thank you for understanding and for your support. Have a great day 😁😁

      Thanks for your question. The Rainbow Serpent is a fascinating myth that appears in many Aboriginal cultures across Australia. Different tribes have their own unique takes on the story. Here are some of the tribes and regions where this myth is particularly important: - Yolngu People (Northern Territory): They call it Ngalyod or Julunggul. - Gagadju People (Kakadu National Park): Known as Almudj. - Warlpiri People (Central Australia): Referred to as Wititj. - Bundjalung People (New South Wales): They know it as Wonnarua. - Noongar People (Southwest Australia): Called Wagyl or Waagal. - Arrernte People (Central Australia). - Luritja People (Central Australia). - Tiwi People (Tiwi Islands). - Wiradjuri People (New South Wales). - Kamilaroi People (New South Wales). My narrative is influenced by stories from the Warlpiri and Yolngu. These tribes have such rich and diverse traditions that highlight the importance of the Rainbow Serpent in their cultures. I really aim to honor these stories by sharing them in a way that captures their original essence and cultural richness. Moving forward, I'll make sure to add where my inspiration comes from in the video descriptions. Thanks again for your interest and for engaging with these incredible myths! ❤️❤️

      @@MythMinimus Also I don't think you can claim to capture the essence and intent if you don't understand the entire span of Aboriginal spirituality and initiation, their cosmology and circular conception of time. Especially if you have not met them. I feel out of respect for them you should not change slightly their story, you should present it as it is with a bibliography.

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand and respect your perspective on the importance of accurately presenting Aboriginal spirituality and mythology. Please know that I put a lot of research into the stories I share; I spend days researching these narratives and try to understand as much about these cultures as I can. While it’s impractical for me to meet with every culture personally, I strive to honor these stories by presenting them with respect and care. Our ancestors shared stories from wherever they traveled, focusing on the importance of the messages and cultural aspects rather than the specific origins. My aim is to bring these rich mythological stories to a wider audience, sharing the inspiration they’ve brought to my life. This method is how I will continue to present myths on my channel. I appreciate your understanding and thank you for watching and engaging with my content.

    Myths* AND EVERYTHING ELSE, that we could term 'data' Including sensory And rational-conceptual Starts to make sense if AND ONLY IF It is it is looked at metaphorically AND metaphysically Because the 'physycal' is a metaphor for the 'metaphysical'. Yes? * Myths; paradoxes; intuition/feeling- as close as it gets, to knowing?

      @MythMinimus 3 месяца назад

      I like the idea that myths are just "truths" that we've forgotten. Your comment really got me thinking! It sounds like you're saying that all kinds of data, whether it comes from our senses or our logical thinking, only really make sense when we look at them metaphorically and metaphysically. I find it fascinating to think of the physical world as a metaphor for something deeper.I also love your point about myths, paradoxes, and intuition being our closest way to real knowledge. It feels like you're suggesting that to truly understand the world, we need to go beyond just the literal and physical. How do you think we can apply this way of thinking in our everyday lives?

      @@MythMinimus Thanks for reply. What I've said is my main contribution to humanity! What do i say now 😳? Illustrate by example maybe? (I.e. i try to, and so can you!) The rainbow serpent 'waking' the creatures- creation. 'Empty world'- the creator's inherent POTENTIAL (for creating life). The 'motivation' or 'need' to create- merely its NATURE to do this. AND: the creation is METAPHYSICAL, and METAPHORICAL, and a MANIFESTATION. And, subjectively speaking, a MINDSET. With the sense 'data', our nature, the purpose, the potential for fulfilment, the beauty, the journey, the story, the game, the destination etc. 'Being according to the 'Daou' What is the 'Daou', the spirit, God, the purpose etc.? What? Who? How? Why? I don't know 😳 People will have to answer your question for themselves?

    I had never heard of this before, I'm not too keen on Irish mythology either. After a little research I found the Annals of the Four Masters, listing the reigns of those mentioned in the lore. Most are in the height of the Bronze Age (1800-1300 BCE). This period is also when most of the world is calling the native Greeks "Danaan." Today we call them Mycenaeans, but they were certainly sea-faring and may have reached "Britannia.". I also realize this word, Danaan, has an Irish/Gaelic meaning as well.

      Thanks for your comment! I appreciate your passion for the topic, and thank you for viewing the video. The narrative in the video is based on the Babylonian version of the Enuma Elish, which is one of the most well-known versions of this creation myth. In this version, Marduk, a powerful god, rises to defeat the chaos dragon Tiamat and creates the world from her body. This story was central to the Babylonian New Year celebrations and highlights the themes of chaos, divine power, and cosmic order. I understand there are other versions of the creation myth from different Mesopotamian cultures, like the Sumerians and Akkadians, which share some similarities and differences. If you have more insights or details about these versions, I would love to hear them. It's always fascinating to learn more about these ancient stories and how they evolved! Looking forward to your thoughts!
