If I take 3x15 minute breaks, can I work 11:45 ?
Hi, the 3 x 15 minutes are breaks and not classed as working time. You would not be working more than the 11 hours, just that the 11 hours you are working would be spread over an 11 hour 45 minute period. Hope that makes sense.
It's shame the camera is too far we can't read what's on the board but still
Thanks for the feedback. We appreciate the comment and can understand the limitation it causes
Thankyou
You're welcome
Hello mam I'm vicky sachdeva I live in uk I have lost my Europe driving license in uk or I can't go to Europe please tell me what should I do to get uk or Europe or uk driving license thanku
Hi. If you have been resident in UK for more than 12 months you will have registered with DVLA. You can apply for a UK Driving Licence at the following web address www.gov.uk/exchange-nongb-driving-licence
Hello, but it's not required to send the non GB to dvla to exchange it? Lady above says she has lost it. Could you please enlight me on this cause is happening to my partner that and because of that she refuses to drive when in UK. Thank you
Brilliant walk round check, saved video for reference, new job on Friday, massive help for reference 👍👍👍🚛
Thanks for the kind words. Good luck tomorrow, hope all goes well
If this is supposed to be a masterclass in planning its no wonder planners spend their lives getting up drivers noses. You're trying to plan a delivery with a degree of accuracy to a massive county. Where in Cornwall? It can take you 2 hours to get from one end to the other. Lets call it Falmouth for the sake of argument. And lets get shot of that 70km/h limiter as well, 45mph on the motorway is dangerous. Thats why the heavy stuff has an escort. Newcastle to Solihull is 335km. Solihull to Falmouth is 420km. Take a 15 min break before setting off. You'll do Solihull in 4.5 hours easy plus 30 mins break owed at Donnington is 5 hours 15 minutes. Arrive at Solihull at 01:05, load and back out at 01:35 with 3.5 hours left on a 5 hour 15 drive. Overnight in a layby on the A30 probably near Okehampton at 3 hours 15 mins. So card out at 04:50. Break for 11 hours. 15:50 card in for the walk around and a smoke, push off at 16:05. Arrive at Falmouth at 18:05 and you've still got a reduced daily rest for the trip home.
The video is aimed at those taking the Transport Manager CPC exams. There's a massive difference between "exam world" and "real world". I totally agree with you that there are any number of variables that are not taken into account for the exam.
I have worked in the HGV industry for 30 years in Australia as a driver and Operations Manager, i'm now looking for work in the UK my home country, i have look at CPC it's is just a money making scheme when you cost its fuel and man power(wages) Running cost should be caluculate when you first look a buying a vehical as a percentage (Acountants costing) which gets added to the overall cost over the lenght of payment for the vehical. The rest as transport worker you should keep up with legislation not be told every 5 years
I agree Michael, the Tranport Manager CPC syllabus is very much geared up to "exam world" rather than "real world"
Shame the screen is too far
Hi, thanks for your feedback. I agree, it was recorded in the early days. It is on our "to do list" to update with a more modern and userfriendly design
What about breakdowns?
Good question. If you are in charge of the vehicle, are you still actually working, are you freely able to dispose of your time and are still available to return for work if needed? Moreover, do you know how long the wait for recovery is? If you are told that they will be with you in two hours, you are not required to stay with the vehicle and are available to resume work when requested, then you could arguably use POA for that specific two hour period. You need to meet all the criteria.
"we can get there WITHOUT A PROBLEM..."😂😂😂😂😂 Sorry. Every night maintainance road closures makes I mean all roads not just one or two.....makes journey unplanable.....😉😁
Hiya, the wonders of "exam world", where everything is perfect and no 'just in case' is allowed 🤣.
Hi , I am planning to do a school run on self employed less than 4 hours per day 5 days and still need to complete 45 hours rest in week ? Please help with my question
Hi. If you are just carrying out the school run and nothing else, you would fall under GB Domestic hours. When working less than 4 hours a day there is no need to keep any driving hours' records. The 45 hours a week rest comes from the EU Drivers' Hours Regs 561/2006, which you would not be under based on the information you have given, so would not be relevant.
How much time it will take?
Hi, there are around 140 learning hours for the course. On average, it takes our students between 3 and 6 months to complete using the online study option. Feel free to take a look at www.ntponlinelearning.co.uk/ and if you have any questions, give us a shout.
Hi, i know you posted this about 2 years ago but i just find the video..... anyway my question is why you calculated 3 drivers if the question it was only for route 11 and the 3rd driver it's from route 6??? Maybe i missed something but i don't understand why you calculated 3 drivers when it can be done with 2 drivers for route 11!! Thank you very much in advance
Hi. The case study tells us that Route 11 delivers foodstuff from Stockport, returning to Oxford, however it also tells us that it delivers packaging and marketing materials from Oxford, so the costings will need to start from Oxford (including the requirement for the third driver)
the third option of checking the EU driving licence seems the most straightforward, cheapest, and fastest. however it doesn't accept my licence's number and still asks to provide 16 letters long one. (my licence has only 8- CZ) any idea how to tackle this please?
Hiya. Unfortunately the "Share My Driving Licence" option doesn't work in all cases. If your driving licence does not have 16 characters unfortunately it won't work
Nice video
Hi, thanks for your feedback, greatly appreciated
Are you allowed to use your phone as a calculator or can you use a standard calculator
Hi @garryirons7203 you cannot use your phone at all. You will need a non-scientific calculator for the exam
Great video, I love it thanks 👍👍❤❤

Hi, if no depreciation percentage figure is given in the case study and only purchase price, does this mean that the asset has fully depreciated and thus no figure needs to added to the standing costs ? Thanks
Hi, you can only work with the information provided in the case study and scenario. If there is no mention of depreciation then it will not form part of the calculation.
How do you keep a log of CPD ?
Hi, a simple list on a spreadsheet or as a word document will suffice, giving the date, source, content and number of hours
@@NTPOnlineLearning Many thanks
Quick question, why no mention of WTD ? Don't we always have to take both Drivers Hours and WTD in consideration when doing a schedule ? Thanks.
Hi, yes, you always have to bear the WTD in mind. As a quick check, once the start time has been established, add 6 hours to that time. Has the driver needed a break from driving. If the answer is yes, they have satisfied the WTD. If the answer is no, the driver will need a WTD break inserting (in line with any company policies or instructions given) no later than the 6 hour point.
I have had a few issues because I got a code 101 a few companies said I couldn't drive for hire and reward ,but here's the big but I got a Bus Licence D so surely that should supersede the 101
Hi, thanks for the question. I assume that you mean the 101 is against the Cat D1, in which case I absolutely agree with you. If you have entitlement for Cat D you can automatically drive a D1 for hire and reward even if it has code101 alongside the D1.
@@NTPOnlineLearning Yes according to some companies I can’t it’s like saying I can’t drive 3.5 tonne with my Lorry licence
Many thanks for your videos. My question is - If after arriving at the destination to unload the driver is told there will be a delay of few hours (not told exactly the wait time ) so he has to wait for his turn? Should this be recorded as POA or Other work ? Pls advise.
Hi sivakumars1712, to be able to use POA the duration must be known in advance. To be told of a delay of a few hours is not enough information to meet the rules for POA. Thanks for your kind comment
Great video👍🏽
Thanks for your kind comments
@@NTPOnlineLearning Hi i will start a weekend job as class 1 i already work in different sector during the week how d to put other work on tacho for the gap ??
Why no mention of the WTD rules when you take the first break ?
Thank you for the feedback
how to approach driving hours schedule when you have a end time instead of a starting time ? Thx
It's all in the planning. Make sure that you have itemised each step of the journey so you know what is involved. Then, you can work back using the information you have been given to a provisional starting time, then work forward again to make sure you haven't exceeded any driving or working time limits, or broken any company policies.
How often do you recommend doing a refresher course?
The Traffic Commissioner looks at a 5 year cycle and insists on a 2 day refresher as a starting point if sufficient CPD hasn't been carried out. Undertaking a refresher on a more regular basis is obviously beneficial
I am new learner to cpc. Will I need to do a CPD course even tho I am new to CPC?
Hi lb278, we never stop learning, so undertaking regular CPD is a must
Please drop the background music
Hi, thanks for the feedback, much appreciated
Of course apart from early analogue tachographs which you have to select the steering wheel function to record driving time.
Things have moved on so much since those days
When a Uk licence holder exchanges for an EU license he/she has a 70code plus original Uk license number plus most recent UK card issue number plus the letters GBR on the reverse of the Eu license.. What is the significance of the previous Uk issue number? Does it become some sort of international identifier or is it purely of historic value? (I believe that the issue number may also appear on the international driving permit too)..
Hi Steve, Code 70 signifies that the driving licence has been exchanged, unfortunately I cannot quote the precise reason as to why the UK number is printed afterwards. Applying logic however, having the UK details readily available on the new card means that anybody wishing to see your UK driving licence history would be able to access it - otherwise you may only have an accessible record of your driving history since the issue of the exchanged licence.
@@NTPOnlineLearning thanks... My main curiosity is the purpose of the ISSUE NUMBER? eg 70: APPLE905205DG9KY 23-GBR ...(fictional example) The license number links to ones driving record and test pass, but presumably the issue number is a link to a specific UK photo card.. I'm sure that every detail is for some sort of reason but I'd imagine that your guess is as good as mine on this one... 🙂

I have an Italian driving licence how to get the share code for my job in uk?
Thank you for your question. As described in the video, contacting the DVLA contact centre may be the best way. Call the 0300 number and leave permission for the person concerned to request your details. If you have been resident in the UK for more than 12 months you should have registered your non-GB licence with the DVLA and your information will be accessible. If you have not been resident 12 months, DVLA will only have on record any points that have been issued to you.
But DVLA can't issue any points on a non-UK Driving License... @@NTPOnlineLearning
Tool bollocks talk Fores bollocks Hiasco bollocks We are drivers & don't need the shit we never used to have before England was put into the EU criminals. May the Eu criminals be abolished asap.
Get rid of cpc bullshit. Its a load of bollocks & even guys ex driver's doing this shit have said its a load of crap. No driver wants it & employers don't want it either. I called dvla & transport authority & oh usual bollocks of write to the transport minister. Is it a wonder that that no one with half a brain wants to be a hgv driver in England. Since my marriage ended last year I gave up my job & relocated & i haven't driven a lorry in over 4 months & i don't dam well miss it either. No stress No spastic rules & regulations No cpc bollocks No long work hours. No stuck on over crouded roads. Made worse by allowing eastern Europeans to infest England.

Hello, hope you can help, been watching lots of your videos and revising for my exam, can’t get my head around a practice case study, It says a ltd company run by a sole trader is selling up to a new partnership. My question is, what is the correct procedure for the operator licences currently being used by the ltd company. Is there anything else that would need to happen in this scenario Thanks in advance.
Hi @demdriver, thanks for messaging. With respect to an Operator Licence it depends on the company entity as to what happens. For a sole trader or a partnership, an Operator Licence is issued to the named persons on the application. This licence is not transferable, so if the 'Company' was sold, the new owners would have to apply for a new Operator Licence in their own right, whilst the original holders of the Operator Licence would surrender theirs. However, it is slightly different for a Ltd Company. The Operator Licence is issued to the Company (not the individual directors), so if the Company was sold, it is effectively the directors that are changing. Therefore, providing the Company Name and Ltd Company Registration Number remains unchanged, the Operator Licence remains valid. Companies House and the Office of The Traffic Commissioner will need informing of the director(s) that have been removed and the director(s) that are being added.
@@NTPOnlineLearning hello, really appreciate your reply, cleared a few things up on my mind, I just can’t get my head around how a sole trader can run a Ltd company. Is that allowed.
Hi, firstly, great video! I work for an electricity company not employed as a lorry driver, however, I drive lorries as part of my role. I never or if ever it is very rare that I drive for more than 4 hours a day. Do I need to record my driving hours at all? My duty time regularly exceeds 11 hours due to emergencies. Thanks in advance
Hi @jordanfield5975. Thanks for the compliment, hope it has been helpful. With the information you have given, you may not need to keep records of your driving records, however you will still need to record your working time records. There are 3 questions to ask yourself. 1. Are you driving in scope of operator licensing? (yes). 2. Do you drive more than hours on that particular day? (no). 3. Do you drive outside a 50km radius of the vehicle's operating centre on that particular day? If your answer to point 3 is NO, then you do not need to keep any record of your driving for that day. If your answer to point 3 is YES, you legally do need to keep records of your driving for that day. Please bear in mind that company policies may override the rules. Hope that helps to clarify.
Hi Mark, we are upgrading our old 7.5t wagon that is a analog tacho to a new one that has a digi. The couple of lads we employ don’t have digital cards because they have their 7.5t on grandfather rites. We are now looking to see if we fall in to the domestic hours rules as we are a groundwork’s company that only moves our own materials for our own jobs. Only really compute too and from site and don’t work out of a 50km radius. Do we fall in the domestic rules? It would be easier for us to just get the lads log books to record their working day. Do we have to notify anyone that we are working under the gb domestic hours?
@@NTPOnlineLearning how can company policy override the rules???? Surely the law is the law.
Thanks for clearing that up!… so what’s a CPC? Is that a DQC?
Certainly! Allow me to clarify. CPC is a mandatory qualification for professional drivers. Once you pass your Driver CPC, you'll be issued a Driver Qualification Card (DQC). The CPC/DQC ensures that drivers have the necessary knowledge and skills to operate safely and efficiently on the road.
A lot of useful information here for people new to the industry. Thank you
You're most welcome! I'm glad you found the information useful, especially for those new to the industry. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, ask us here: bitly.ws/KXXZ We're here to help!
Should have put drivers card in first before starting vehicle check. And never saw driver checking oil pressure
Thanks for your feedback. Absolutely, spot on, the driver card needs to be put in and the correct mode selected BEFORE you start the check. It appears when linking the video together, we have a segment in the wrong order. It is mentioned that the video covers some of the things you should be checking.
So if your an owner driver with a tractor unit that looks like a Xmas tree with all the lights etc. if you’ve been working all week but want to show off your truck at a truck show are you allowed to drive it there??????
Hi Simon. You can use the vehicle for non-commercial use after a week's work. You would have to bear in mind that you would need to be able to take a qualifying weekly rest as necessary
Brilliant video, explained perfectly. I would have assigned a 30min WTD break @ 0630 day 2 but you've taught me to plan to their specification; not real life!
Hi Rob, thanks for the kind words. There are a lot of examples where exam world and real world differ - and if you have a background in the industry it is a difficult technique to push aside what you would 'normally' do
You video doesn’t make sense you said check eu licence but you said it’s only for GB licence
Hi Zepo. Apologies, I have checked the video and cannot find a reference to GB in it at all.
@@NTPOnlineLearning you just wrote above that "The online service is only for driving licences that have been issued in England, Wales and Scotland" so your option 3 is meaningless
