I actually bought my ledger Nano S+ recently using crypto, and one of the options to avoid the $10-20 shipping was picking it up from bestbuy so I did that, but i did purchase it via the official ledger site

So I set my buy to 10 dollars and limit to 40 just to let this run for a few days and see how it works. From Trezor safe 3 to nano S didn't work, I'm using Trezor seed for nanoS but from nano S to Trezor I had no problem using ledger S ?

"... there is a seed phrase loaded on to your hardware wallet... " Did you say that to keep it simple for the questioner, or is that actually how it works? My understanding is that the seed phrase doesn't get determined (by the RNG) until you go through the device setup process. I was told that Trezor, for example, uses a combination of a RNG + randomness from your computer to generate the seed phrase. But even for devices that only use a RNG, I would think that the seed phrase only gets determined upon setup (vs coming from the factory with a pre-determined seed phrase)?

You should only ever generate a seed phrase on a SeedSigner. Everything else is compromised.

First off, good, informative video. I liked the visuals. I think you did a good job laying out the information and explaining some concepts that are somewhat difficult to understand especially for non-techies. Here are my questions. 1A. If this whole process is reliant upon the relay receiving a specifically formatted JSON message which states that it's explicitly a relay message, then wouldn't that mean all of this hinges on the app implementing/supporting the protocol? 1B. If the first point is true, then any app that implemented/supported the protocol would see a drop in their number of users due to people getting the information via the relay rather than actually going into the app or site. 1C. Additionally, if the points raised in 1A and 1B are both true and that is the natural result, then why would any company or developer agree to implement or support the NOSTR protocol? 2. If we consider your hypothetical scenario in which a user is removed from popular streams, and ends up having to set up their own relay (which a majority of users will NEVER do under any circumstance btw-but that's a separate discussion) and/or pay someone with a popular relay to host their stream, then that would a) potentially make this a pay-for-play situation and/or b) potentially centralize the platform to some degree. If users are being paid to host a stream or any number of streams, then it's not decentralized. Any agent/agency receiving monetary compensation from users to host their content in return is inherently centralized to some degree, as this agent/agency could effectively remove any number of users’ streams they were hosting at any given time and for any reason whatsoever. 3. Based on your explanation in which a user could receive streams from relay in their company's Slack channel, it appears this could be thought of as a two-way RSS feed, whereby a user is able to not just receive content but also interact with the content. Is that a good analogy?

when you say reading the balance on your hardware wallet from a companion app does that not compromise the hardware wallet? or are you just inputting the address online and not exposing it fully?

trezor Version 24.5.4 was updated to... then HUGE mistake of updating firmware was made (7/2024)... I went to current xx.2 firmware version from xx.0.... I had wallets in hidden wallet... in the hidden wallet I had multiple tokens with 2 separate accounts .... now only 1 of these 2 accounts is recovered with NO clear way to recover the other?? .. please help.. i see no discord or other direct helpdesk is available for kind of this mistake .

Newbie question but, what if a large percent of all possible seed phrases are generated at some point Will it then be a lot easier for a computer to guess a seed phrase correctly?

The issue with BTC, is you are putting your trust in a exchange first, then if you have a wallet, in that, then that no disrupting new technology comes by, seems like a blackswan event is always there. Then there is the huge swings with a large timeframe, so if you started 3/4 of the way up and holded in a big crash, well you're stuck dcaing till you at least reach the same level again. With stocks is the same, except the swing is not so big, and the security of the investment is greater. The biggest thing though is there is no real world fundamental to it, it's all an agreement, a company has intrinsic value or not, beyond the valuation, so if it goes down but it's profitable you know i'll come up, but bitcoin only need one big trust catastrophe even and is gone.
