I really hope Denon made some changes to the way They build their line volume channel faders because my first denon was the mc4000 and wouldn’t you know one channel fader broke off I swear I would never buy denon again so my question to you if I spend over the $2000 price tag for this are there faders and their knobs built with solid construction because if they made their faders anywhere near the way they made them back when they made the MC 4000 then I wouldn’t give you two dollars for Denon let alone 2000 so my question to you is this worth that $2000 price tag?

What caused the issue is that she isn't a DJ and couldn't properly deal with a set that she had someone else prepare for her. She could't rely solely on the sync button and was forced to beat match like a real DJ, then failed miserably. She's trash.

I'm a nurse of 15 years, deep breaths are my number one tip for any professional, always plan out the next 3-4 steps to accomplish your tasks. cool to hear DJs have a the same mindset. Thank you for the mad tips <3 #HobbyDJ

Wow Aaron, have to say you are on fire at the moment. Clearly in a good place and very inspired. That was 30 min of non stop gems and nuggets. Thank you! I use many of the same practices as you, the #tags, similar cue point regime and so on. Currently undergoing a huge clean up in my library, tagging, setting cue points and getting rid of songs I don't need. Currently I tag about 30 songs a day and delete between 3 - 9 songs, from the library I don't use. Very satisfying.

The different sites to check out song popularity and so forth is definitely an extra source of getting crates in better shape, and battle ready. I will surely cross reference charts, songs, etc among those sites. Other than that, I have been enjoying creating crates lately. Helping me to narrow down all my 80's and 90's Hip Hop hits vs having hundreds of songs that don't give that "AYE" feeling when the beat drop. Wish I would have got on with Crate Hackers when I first started. I library may be in much better shape today. LOL

When I follow these steps the crates show up in Serato but the songs are orange/unplayable.

They still don't have CDJ mode, which I prefer and have used for 30 years. The buttons are still too stiff which takes more force to use. I have had the Prime 4 first batch and to me it was a brick, as in useless. As engine developed I got the Numark Mixstream Pro, and as impressive the features are and how fun it is to play with at home, I've never managed to get my RB USB's to work, and as I still wait for a CDJ mode, it's not an option to bring to a gig. Even that I started my first 10 years on Technics 1210's, I do not scratch, ever. I have no use at all for a vinyl mode, and that is all you get, even if you turn it off. Controller DJ's and scratching DJ's won't have that problem, but I do. Strange really as they favor digital DJing in all other aspects.

hey hey , just a question does this mean even when downloading songs from youtube we could still potentially get good quality music or do you recommend using apple music and pools or as long as the song is at 320 the quality should be good ?

It's interesting to see people giving a list of song combo's that work. I wonder if they work at every event? Or at least in the way you think they work that they get the crowd going versus just picking songs you think go well together. I would imagine the combo list vary between location, time when songs are played, age of the crowd etc.

Alright so deep dive into my favorite EDM to Latin transition set. Song 1 Shots - LMFAO When they are naming the 4 different shots on the last one cut the vocals and instruments and drop in Song 2 Fireball - Pitbull on "fireball" you can choose how long you want to let this run if the crowd is in on it I'll wait until Pitbull finishes bringing it back and drop the instrumentals and bring in Song 3 Pepas -Farruko at the build up after "discoteca" 1 chorus and and then I smack them in the face with Danza Kuduro - Don Omar. You can pretty much run any which way you want from there. I should really start a youtube channel....

You are absolutely correct! This whole DJ thing has been a double edged sword. The good thing about the technology is that you dont have to carry around all those crates, turntables, amps and speakers but the bad thing is now all you need is a DJ controller, laptop, external hard drive with files of music and now………….. your a DJ.

To be honest the trend for modern EDM mastering has a tendency to smash the hell our of mixes even if meticulosuly done. The kind of noise potentials offered by uncompressed, higher bit resolution (24/32) is redundant for a large percentage of contemporary PA configurations. If you have compressed 256kps made from high fidelity original source material, don't sweat it. If you are producing material, 24bit 48KHz PCM/WAV is absolutely sufficient for pop/rock/edm. If you are producing and recording large orchestral suites, then higher sample rates and bit resolutions are a good thing for facilitating the potential of capturing a greater dynamic range. In a side context, there are approximately 100,000+ records/works added to streaming platforms every day, paying extra for FLAC or uncompressed streaming? I'd rather (and do) buy physical media if I rate it that much.

Question, can i do the spotify to serato thing only? thats literally all i need..but 30 quid is too expensive per month just for that. I love the concept of this but i think you guys should break it all down into individual services you can pay for... id buy just that one for example, and if i liked others it would persuade me to expand as i used it more.

Hmm ok yeah so the pasted spotify link thing is really useful.. i have a ton of music already and the majority of what playlists in spotify included, i have already.. so if theres a way i can take the playlists and link it to my own music in serato, that would be AWESOME... having a look at your site, ive not seen the prices yet.... hopefully not too bad.. lol

this is excellent advice for people who have music collections small enough to fit on one hard drive.

Is this for real?! Everybody has the right to their opinion… my approach as a dj is play according to my crowd. So I don’t see how it’s helpful to delete genres because you don’t think a particular group might not like. I’ll pass on this! Respectfully!

Pioneer's releasing mediocre and overpriced products in recent years starting with Rekordbox which is a shame, Denon DJ is doing it RIGHT. Can't wait to upgrade my Prime 4 for the new Plus model.
