      its all to do with thermal imagining (differences in temperature) so if any part of the container is above the surface then the camera will detect it. even the size of a football. the smaller it is the less range. if no part of the container was above the surface it would not be detected.

      Great question! The sea.ai system can indeed identify partially submerged shipping containers even at night. It utilizes advanced Machine Vision technology that empowers it to detect various objects, regardless of their composition, as long as they are larger than a small buoy above the water's surface. One of the pivotal advantages of the sea.ai system is its strategic positioning atop the mast. This elevated placement confers a substantial edge over someone situated on the boat's deck, enabling the system to maintain a clearer line of sight even amidst waves. This elevated perspective serves to minimize interference caused by waves, ensuring the system's effectiveness in identifying and tracking objects like shipping containers, which might be concealed by waves. Essentially, the sea.ai system's distinctive vantage point and its sophisticated detection capabilities establish it as a dependable solution for maritime challenges, including scenarios involving nighttime and partially submerged objects. You can explore our online demo featuring a container scenario by following this link: app.sea.ai/page/welcome.html.

    to give security to whales you can use an underwater microphone to detect them and a frontal underwater 100m LIDAR sensor working with the autopilot for evasive manoeuvre and automated reefing the sails, also you need a frontal dish inside the bow with a sonar to avoid containers or other type of objects that have metal, etc and can be 1 meter underwater. this system can be made cheap for making it widespread. i'm afraid your system is a simplistic attempt, ineffective, dangerous and way expensive.

      @@SEA-AI i tried to give a proper answer rather than pub smears with cognitive bias common in almost all forums. this new system can be posted in thingiverse, hackaday, raspberry-arduino forums, ect if you are interested in the matter, i will publish sooner or later. an inexpensive frontal setup with affordable 100m lidar, sonar (active or passive) and radar with dish and hydrophone could work with raspberry pi 4 - 8gb ram, and hooked to autopilot and auto reefing system for an automatic evasive manoeuvre

    • @crapisnice
      @crapisnice 2 года назад

      @@SEA-AI for the cetaceans the hydrophone and passive sonar is enough for prevention, however there can be trees or other organic material floating, besides for cetaceans that's why the lidar is used and the frontal active sonar is used for semi-submerged metallic, composite items as containers, etc and the radar for floating containers, etc respectively. the faster the automated manoeuvre for impact avoidance the less the sensor specs and power needed so it could be made for 50-30m of scope, reducing the setup price and energy consumption. and this system must be mandatory in all boats in the water, while another system with a 360º rotating laser used as ultra low res height scanner (something simple, without mapping) could be used as well for rogue waves detention.

    • @crapisnice
