20 Kg of Fuel | Flyout
Просмотров 781Год назад
This is one of four variants of this aircraft. The third modification was able to reach 783 km downrange with higher-aspect wings and a more efficient turbine. This airframe could be taken further with a good piston engine, but I haven't spent much time with pistons yet. The purpose of this aircraft is to go as far as possible with only 20 kg of fuel. I used a turboprop with Jet A.

IS THER A WAY TO INVERT THE PANNING?
NOT THAT I KNOW OF?
Actually on second thought, you might be able to edit the settings file for it wherever the editor camera sensitivity is, though I haven't explored where that is, so I don't know the exact line.
I was stuck, thanks for this.
Game sure knows how to make a guy feel stupid.
There is a lot of ways of making power. Maybe it needs a tutorial. As far as i know, you can generate electrical energy with turbines, ducted fans, propellers, landing gear or wheels. If you're clever enough you can even create a flying Factory.
is there a way to delete subassemblies from the subassembly list?
I think the only way to do that currently is to delete it from the folder it's saved in, which is just called "Subassembly" in the appdata Flyout directory.
Thanks man
Although I have a powerful PC, I was genuinely surprised this ran so well on my s***** laptop
Thanks.. my brain Blue screen gonna rewatch it 5x times
Hey so my 3 spool turbine engines just don't work no matter what settings I have? Yes I do fuel
What pressure ratios do you have for the spools? Are you in advanced, or simple mode? What's your idle throttle and combustor temp?
I mostly tried to keep everything default, though I am aiming for higher combuster temp. Tried to increase idle throttle but it didn't help much
Pressure ratios I still haven't quite decided on yet so mostly default
Those are important to know - a higher pressure ratio demands more stages per compressor spool, and more stages makes the compressor heavier and more difficult for it to stay rotating for a given amount of power the turbine gets. If it's too heavy for it, it will just fail to be active. Try aiming for a combined OPR of around 20 to 30 and see if that helps.
@TheWanderer05 thank you! This finally helped me get them working Still fairly new to this game (around 20 hours) but I am getting the hang of it So far managed to make a plane that can reliably hit 3200km/h while barely knowing what I was doing
PREZ in monarchs memories before she pass out:Ey monarch!!!
What abt the starter? My engine is apparently missing a starter and can’t find it in the parts catalog unless I’m stupid
To do a cold start you'll need to make an APU, which involves a smaller turbine connected to a gearbox with an electric motor, where the motor is used as a starter. Once the motor spins up the smaller turbine (the APU), the APU's bleed air should be turned on, at which point the main engine can be turned on with the starter, fuel, and ignition buttons in the part's window in flight. For more details and examples I recommend joining the Flyout discord server since there's a lot to unpack
Is there any way to undo stuff? A CTRL+Z equivalent?
Negative, although that is a feature that is in progress. It's taking the dev quite a while because there are many things that have to be tracked to undo, among the other things he's working on. Recommend to save frequently, and even save backup copies for more complex projects.

If you want to make a vtol stabilization input tutorial i can help you learn them, and help ive you a semi comprehensive understanding of how it works. Im not certain of this but im fairly sure im the most educational in vtol inputs in the flyout discord at least. (watched the whole video and you basicly showed what inputs someone should use for them)
I appreciate it, but I think I'm alright. I don't have plans for a VTOL video anytime soon given the rest of the subjects I have queued up anyways.
I feel like I'm eligible for an aerospace engineering scholarship after watching this video
Bought an early release and I am just loving the "game"😊 it's awesome that you made this tutorial for us. We greatly appreciate it. ❤
Just got the game. During my steam 2 hour try out I couldnt get the stock plane to take off cause I didnt know the throttle. This tutorial had that so Im happy to keep the game.
Where is the Cntrl + Z?
There isn't an undo function yet, as mentioned in the video.
@@TheWanderer05 Sorry, i don´t understand very well English, not even hearing it. Thanks for answer.
I swear you have the best tutorials, sadly they don't have a lot ov views
Great guide, now i have a better idea on my gear doors, I do wish the dev would eventually add linear actuators and maybe double attached joints (to have two joints attach to the same object for stability (i had a cockpit canopy that had a few swing joints to act as a linear actuator but since only one side actually attaches, once the plane got moving the canopy would wiggle badly, had to set joint mass really high to keep it stable))
I have been trying to figure out how to use inputs to create stable flying wings. While I have been mostly successful I have been unable to find the right combination of input response to prevent yaw overcorrection creating a feedback loop where the craft yaws back and forth eventually out of control in some flight regimes. Great guide here curious if you might have any thoughts on my specific issue? I have posted some thoughts on the discord but no one has really had any helpful advice.
The main contributor for static directional stability for a flying wing will be the wing sweep, where a normal sweep direction and angle (B-2, B-21, Ho-229) will induce stability, and reverse wing sweep (X-29, SU-47) will be inherently unstable. For controls, you will either need to create split ailerons with some additional wing pieces or have different sections of the wing split so one segment's control surfaces deflect up and the other deflects down as to not generate a rolling moment. These should respond to yaw (plus roll if they are indeed also your ailerons). With those set up, go into the cockpit part and give the aircraft a negative slip damp value. Start around -0.1 or so and adjust the magnitude as necessary. A positive yaw rate damp value (start with 0.5 or so) should also help.
@@TheWanderer05 Thanks for the input. I have figured all that part out. The problem I am running in to is that I can't find a way to ease the response as yaw rate approaches zero. instead the craft continues to yaw past centerline creating a feedback loop where the craft yaws back and forth instead of easing in to stable flight. I thought maybe some combination of opposing response using the appropriate angular velocity responses might fix for this but I could not find a combination that worked. I decided it was either beyond my knowledge or beyond the games current capability.
@@Opusss Try using the y-angular acceleration response instead, currently the angular acceleration input values are swapped with angular velocity for some reason (noted around 24:20).
I just started playing fly out as I’m an aviation geek and the input system was so confusing to me and driving me nuts. Good timing for this video and even better explanation! Thank you good sir
I don't know why it doesn't have a mesh designer like SPROCKET uses? It should be super easy to build something. No CTRL-Z is truly mind boggling.
You know watching this and playing the game made me realize how much and how little I understood this videos at the same time. Still managed to make an angrier A-10 though so thanks.

What did you do the get the propeller to snap to the center of the gearbox at 6:21? I would really love to know that trick
Hold x and y to center on the vertical and lateral axis.
how do i stop part clipping
I'm not sure what you mean exactly, parts just kinda go wherever you place them and require you to make adjustments afterwards. What are you trying to do?
comically large bomber
@@themanthemyththelegenda Ok, what are you doing where part clipping is an issue?
i was just places fuselages and some parts clipped
@@themanthemyththelegenda That sounds normal to me. If it's causing issues for you, I recommend joining the game's discord server so we can help out further.
How to I make it so I have more points to modify on my fuselage, as I don’t have a lot to shape with?
Use the "Fuselage 32" or "Fuselage 64" parts.
I built something i called the "Apollo" was built during this tutorial. It is a coldwar delta wing fighter bomber, single engine, nuclear capable, and medium weight.
Did it work?
Never before i could think that the game was already around in 2018.. And actually so many features are missing from navigation, autopilot, space stuff, designer features, missions, ect. I really hope they will make their way back into the game in their best shape ever. Also interesting to see how the game resembled KSP a lot lot more back then
15:22 Wait, where did this awesome sound effect go on the newer versions?
That's still there, the fan blades just need to exceed Mach 1 to hear it
I like how Stone changed the HUD and interfaces to the current one, the last one looked a bit too much like SimplePlanes, and I honestly like the difference of the new one to separate it apart from other games.
Definitely a video I need to save for later... Going to have to refernce this again to fully digest everything. You are the man
Learned a whole bunch within the first 2 minutes... Thank you 👍
If you know how to play ksp your good except for some things
It was a quiet night, full of distant echos, and the sound of animals in the forest, and the loud rumble of CIF Airships flying overhead. It was August 25th, 432. Monarch looked up at sky from the mess that was his broken F\D-14. Him and Prez had been stranded on that open plain for an entire two days. Their food and water rations were half full, only letting them last a week. Monarch pondered into the sky above, wondering if there was some sort of value being the world's greatest pilot. Prez was still awake in her seat; she was just very tired. She glanced at him and said, "Hey Monarch, can I ask you a question?" "Sure, go ahead." Monarch said. It was more of a croak. Monarch was born a mute, so he primarily used ASL to communicate. He could say a couple sentences at a time, but after that, his throat started to hurt. "What do you care about the most, looking back on this contract?" Monarch signed *"The safety and happiness of my comrades, of course."* Prez looked back at him and said, "Does that Include me?" Monarch replied *"Of course, Remember what I promised to you at Prospero?"* Prez replied "Yea, you said you're not going to fly solo anymore, right?" Monarch signed *"That's right, because I care about you more than anyone else here."* Prez blushed and said, "Eve told me something about you a couple days ago." "Do you mind if I ask you?" Monarch nodded. "Do you... l-like me?" Monarch took off his helmet and stared at the girl. "Of course I do, who wouldn't." Monarch said. Monarch kissed Prez. She blushed intensely and smiled. The Two spent the rest of the night talking about life, their future, and well, whatever. This was just a description he gave me of The Battle of Presidia. I don't know what else, but It's damn true that the two are now dating. Heh, some things just never change. Thanks for the description old buddy and see ya soon. - Peter "Diplomat" Kennedy. P.S. Me and Eve are alive thank god.
I've might've missed this but what does "Blade Chord" Do?
Blade chord increases the width of the individual blades.
Hi all, just some clarification for part of the propeller tuning: When I say the prop is "too heavy" or "too light" to stay at a certain RPM, this is a little misleading. What would have been correct to say is that the blades are generating too much or too little drag to allow the prop to get to the desired RPM. A prop's weight will only affect its angular acceleration. The original statement about weight in the video was made because the factors that affect prop weight also affect its blade drag. Sorry if this caused any confusion.
i need help, every prop i place keeps either being flat no matter what or turned so hard it wont propel anything and it keeps happening no matter what even when i use a stock propeller.
Is the propeller connected to a gearbox in its settings?
i have the same problem, do you know how to fix it?
@@TheWanderer05 yes.
You know, you can stall the chandeliers firing by destroying its shell from the inside
Graphically the game looked better in my opinion
It feels so weird seeing crappy old builds from wanderer of all people...
Gotta start somewhere, right?

bruh I'd've rather had ugly prefab flyout that has like way more content
I wouldn't say it had "way more," the cut features didn't add much in their implemented states except for the VTOL parts (which will be returning next update) and the air race.
@@TheWanderer05 And high fidelity terrain, bombs, some oil rig mission and what looks to be rocket engines. honetly'd've bought the game right away then
Why did everything in the beginning have like a bombers nav./ballistics computer?
I'm not sure what you're referring to here. We didn't have any ballistic computers in these versions.
@@TheWanderer05 looks like they were landing gear pods? was everything in prefabs then? so you couldn't just move them around?
@@c.v.4070 Pretty much. The gear could be adjusted in length and the spring/damper strength but not wheel setup and angle.

Find the AreaData.txt file in the game's appdata/locallow directory. In there, you can copy and paste one of the existing ones. Be sure that the id is sequential from the ones that are already there.
