Hey Everybody, We went out a few days for a couple of hours each time. We were able to find a few relics left behind by the soldiers. Many of the battlefields here are being developed so there wont be any signs a war was ever fought here. Sad really. Thanks for taking a look.

Trapping Coyotes on a Ga Cattle Farm 2023
This beautiful area should be left alone. To many places are being destroy.
I work in Downtown ATL and a couple months ago I found a 3 ring mini ball right around Jefferson street!
Awe that’s fantastic! I image during construction downtown a lot of cool relics have been found. I’m glad you got a piece of history! Thanks so much for taking time to watch and the great comments. 😊👏👏👍
I was raised in Decatur in the 50s and 60s. Did some hunting in the early 60s in north Ga but never thought to look in Atlanta, thought it was all paved over. Glad you saved something.
Thanks for taking time to watch John. Most of the trenches are gone now or have been dumped in for years. It’s getting tough to hunt them. Thanks buddy 🙂🔥👍👍
That is a .22 blank cartridge. Not a percussion cap.
@@firestorm8471 I’ll be , I appreciate ya letting me know. Some of this stuff I get wrong 🙂👌👌
Smyrna allowed Concord Road earthworks to be destroyed to build shopping centers. They were the second line of heavy defenses from Kennesaw Mountain to guard Atlanta. I remember walking through the earthworks and cannon emplacements back in the 70s . They were almost pristine. Such a loss of history .
@@firestorm8471 oh man, so many sites have been allowed to be bulldozed for tax revenue. They could have saved so many of the Fortifications and trench works around our area. I’m glad they saved some of the star forts along the river. I sure appreciate you taking time to watch and the great comments 🙂🔥👍👍
So I lived in Emerson Georgia for a very long time everytime a good rain we get bullets washing up
@@Pluh88 man that’s awesome! I’ve only had one place like that and it’s long gone, wish it was still like that lol. I’m glad you were able to get some back then. I sure appreciate ya taking time to watch and thanks for the cool story! 🙂🇺🇸🔥👍
where at ?
I grew up literally on part of the cold harbor battlefield. Found my first relics there and when they cleared for another house we'd ckeck thevpiles of dirt
Man that would have been cool brother.I grew up less than 4 miles from so many skirmishes and had no idea when I was younger. I missed so many opportunities to hunt those places. Congratulations for getting in on them back then. I sure appreciate ya taking time to watch 🙂🔥🔥👍
Good to take a break from the insanity of what's going on in our Country right now.😊👍🏻
Hey Ron! Yes sir, I have to get in the woods and clear my head when I can lol. I hope you enjoyed the video and I sure appreciate ya watching 🙂🇺🇸🔥👍👍
I live in Atlanta, and this stuff fascinates me. Keep doing what you're doing and thanks for filming it all - would like to come hang out while you do it some time!
Thanks a bunch my friend! Yes it’s just a thrill to see these places before they are gone. I don’t get out much these days, mostly I just hunt the parks for old coins. I appreciate ya taking time to watch 🙂🔥👏👏
Used to be some nice trenches off the Bank Head highway..
@@akjeff64 Hey Jeff! Thanks for watching brother. I’ve never detected Bankhead Hwy. I’ve done Fulton Industrial a few times. Lots of construction in both those areas now. 🙂🔥👍👍
I hunted that river line at bank head highway 40 years ago the trenches were still head high with rifle pits like they were dug yesterday
Man, I wish I had of been detecting back then. People have been dumping in these sites for years now. They are in pretty bad shape. I appreciate the great comment 🙂🔥👍👍
I lived on Powers Ferry Rd north of Buckhead as a kid back in the late 40's to mid 50's. We had seven acres and on the back side of the property there were trenches dug for probably five hundred feet facing north to the Chattahoochee River. They were usually full of water but when I got older I realized they were for soldiers trying to defend Atlanta near the end of the war. I live in the north now and metal detect around old swimming holes and rivers.
That’s an awesome story from your childhood! I wish I had been born 10 years earlier lol. I’ve never detected that area but I’m sure it was a hot spot for relics. I mostly hunt the parks around my house now too. I sure appreciate you commenting. 🙂👏👏🔥
@@GeorgiaTrappingandFishing I live where there is a lot of early history back to the 1600's. Old forts/stage coach stops. Barge canals where small barges were pulled by horses/mules. Lot of battle sights of Indian/settler fighting. Major forts during the Indian wars. But a lot of it is state land, protected so can't hunt there, but not all. I'm 80 now so it's a lot harder for me no to get into a lot of these places. But I live on a private lake community with a private beach going back to the early 1800's and the sight of an old boathouse that was torn down 50 years ago and a boat launch. And I'm the only guy here with any metal detectors. I enjoyed your video.
I just moved to Monroe and was wondering how to find or what to look for to find places to metal detect at, I work in lathonia/ stone crest
The best thing you can do is research what happened in your area. Plenty of info online and look up old maps of your area. You just have to narrow down where the action was. Good luck my friend 🙂🔥👍👍
@@GeorgiaTrappingandFishing appreciate it man, I did a lot of relic hunting in fl but its different when you move to a new place and Dont know where to go. Appreciate the help and the video
Don't loot historic site. Use proper archeology.
Right on Keith! That’s why I never detect designated historic sites or protected parks. The state will never protect these sites and a couple are already under concrete now. 👌👍
Cool. Learned what’s cleaner bullet is. Good stuff.
@@gator83261 Hey there! I sure appreciate ya watchin, I hope you enjoyed it 🙂🇺🇸🔥🔥
I grew up on the corner of Forrest Rd and Linwood Ave back in the '50s. This was hilley land and breast works during the war. After a good rain, the ground was sprouting bullets. Once I found a dozen of those cleaning bullets with the zinc plug.We speculated that the plug was to expand the bullet into rifeling for a better gas seal. I took one to the Kennesaw battlefield where a ranger told me what I had. Across the street a judge owned about 3 AC of land and all sorts of things were found there: spurs, belt buckles, sword scabbards, etc. That was my childhood.
Hey Embry! That is so cool. I always loved that area. My sister and her husband lived on Montrose right near there. You’re right it was really hilly there lol. You were blessed to live in a beautiful area back then. They had a big dirt crawl space in there basement and a large yard. I wish I had been detecting back then. Thanks for commenting and sharing a great story. I always enjoy it. 😊👏👏👏
I grew up on Oakdale Dr off Ash street!!
@@desertweasel6965 that’s awesome! There were a lot of group movements all through that area before the battle of Jonesboro. The Calvary probably moved through there regularly during the March to the sea. I appreciate ya commenting 🙂🔥👍
@@GeorgiaTrappingandFishing I used to be so fascinated with local civil war stuff. Right at the end of stage coach rd and anvil block road there was a big Union encampment. I actually was able to find remnants of it as you reach the end of Stagecoach. There was also a little house that is still there at the intersection of boldercrest Rd and panthersville Rd. The woman that lived there allowed high ranking officers to stay there and around the property.
@@desertweasel6965 very cool! You should try to go back and revisit that place 👍👍
They have turned the Spanish Fort battlefield into a series of strip malls and subdivisions too. It’s just east of Mobile. I’m fortunate that I got to see and hunt it before greed obliterated it.
That always makes my blood boil when I hear these stories. We are the only country that doesn’t preserve our past history. I appreciate ya letting me know, money is King to all these people. I sure am glad you were able to see it and hunt it before it was all under concrete. Thanks again 🙂🇺🇸🔥👍👍
done a lot of relic hunting back in the early seventies when there was a lot of stuff to be found, the Union Armies winter camp at Fredricksburg on the north side of the river was a gold mine of finds
Hey brother! VA. Was loaded with great relics. I’m glad you got into them in the hay day. I used to hunt up there for a week every year but the older I got I slowed down. I’d like to get back up there one of these days. I sure appreciate you taking time to watch and commenting 🙂🇺🇸🔥👍👍
My fire department uses those tags you found to number fire hydrants. The color indicates the gallons per minute the fire hydrant can flow.
Hey John! Very cool, seems like I’ve seen some of the hydrants tagged here too. I appreciate your input and great comment brother! 🙂🇺🇸🔥👏👏
You trimmed the beard brother. Great job on the review.
Hey John! Yes sir it finally got too hot for the beard lol. I have been impressed so far with all their gear. I appreciate ya buddy 🙂🇺🇸🔥👍👍
Cool to see stuff still being dug so close to Atlanta, but really sad to see all the development of the few remaining battlefields. I've dug some relics further north around Dalton to Resaca.
Hey Grant! I appreciate ya watching brother. Yes sir, it will all be gone before long. I hunted Dalton a few times and really enjoyed it. Great folks up that way. Maybe this fall I can get out and hunt a few more places before it’s gone 🙂🇺🇸🔥🔥
My father's maternal grandfather was with the Federal Army, the 8th Kansas Volunteer Infantry, enlisting in March 1864. Of just over 1000 of his unit, he was only one of a few handful who survived. He was part of the siege of Atlanta.
@@kilcar what a fantastic family history! I sure appreciate you sharing it with me. It was hard on both side’s during the Atlanta campaign. It was the hottest months of the year and I know it was miserable for them. He was probably involved in the march to the sea with Sherman too. Thanks again and I hope you enjoyed the video! 🙂🇺🇸🔥👍
I'd love to do some digging around Atlanta. I live up here in Forsyth Co. Not much to hunt up this way. I did manage to find the brass face of a Western style Block I Confederate button. I'm guessing it was either troops passing through or a veteran that returned home after the war. Anyway, nice video!
Hey Harold! I sure appreciate ya watching brother. It getting so developed now in Atlanta there just isn’t many places left. I hunted up in Dalton a couple of years ago. Just knocked on some doors and asked permission. I’d study the troop movements instead of battle fields these days. They did a lot of marching. Best of luck and I hope you find some new spots 🙂🇺🇸🔥👍👍
Great looking hunting gear !! Looks really nice and well made !! Thanks for sharing Craig, take care 👍🏼😊
Hey Q, I really like their gear so far. I’ll know a little more this winter 😁 I appreciate ya brother 😊🔥🔥👍
