Good job on the team! Just want to add a couple of thoughts: * Explosion on Metagross is useful because it gets rid of Curse users like Snorlax before they get too dangerous with the Curse boost. Meteor Mash will deal a lot of damage but it is 85% accurate and it can miss at a point where Snorlax can shrug off MM with a 2nd or 3rd Curse boost. * I would recommend replacing Rock Slide with Shadow Ball. It is Metagross best move to use against Dusclops and also against the Lati@s twins which based on the team, can beat Milotic if they carry Calm Mind or you are forced to DB with Gengar. Whatever Rock Slide hits for x2 damage has the same power as Meteor Mash with STAB factored in.

I’ve been using Gengar, too! I run: Tbolt, Ice Punch, Psychic, and Destiny Bond with scope lens. I land crits often and when I expect to lose or get low on health, destiny bond. Also, you said Giga drain is physical. In gen 3, grass moves are all special.

Did you try applying the berry patch to your pokemon emerald game ro fix the issue with berries not growing? Pokemon FRLG have a built in patcher and there are plenty of tutorials online for it

Using the Analogue Pocket with the GBA core, you can send yourself the Berry Glitch Fix Event from Goppier to your main Emerald cart!

There is something so special about having the best team made from some of your favorite pokemon in emerald or fr/lg... yeah you can accomplish this in modern games but nothing beats true hard work like this.

for me personally i cheat tms and rare candies it just takes the not fun parts out of the game but still breeding and ev training ofc

Hey kevin congratulations on your first gold medal! I have been following your channel for about 6 months and its awesome to see you finally using meta pokemon. I myself just recently claimed gold at the battle dome and battle tower! Even with meta pokemon the frontier is such a grind. I used a team of slaking, metagross, and gengar for a long time, but i was susceptible to fast fire types, so i swapped out gengar for starmie(my gengar also had destiny bond which is one of the best moves in the frontier). I like how your using gengar, milotic, and metagross though. Covers all your weaknesses. Fast fire types cant touch milotic especially bc of its high hp and spdef. I cant wait to see you conquer the battle tower with this meta team! Im working on the gold symbol for the battle factory currently.

Currenty watching your videos while trying to get my ideal Registeel on Sapphire (I'm trying to get the trainer card star for 50 wins at the battle tower but limiting myself to only using Pokémon available in the Hoenn Pokédex like when Ruby & Sapphire first released).

Grass is special not physical

You mentioned that your Emerald isn't working even though you replaced the battery and I think I have the solution for you! Essentially, when you replaced the battery in your cart, it set the internal clock of the game back to 2000, and with the way the game is coded, berries wont start growing until you pass the date you started the file because it thinks negative time has passed since it started tracking for berries. If you have a DS with a GBA slot, you can buy a DS flash cart, upload a clock fixing program to it (there's a few of these online if you google), and you can use that to manually set the clock in your copy of Emerald to real time and allow berries to grow again

Big congrats on the gold. It's been really cool watching you develop your team & strategy from the start. No shame in using meta pokemon, the frontier is just exceptionally unforgiving especially the Tower in later rounds. I had a similar approach in the beginning of my journey and ended up saving my favorites like Sceptile, Blaziken and Flygon for certain levels in the Battle Pyramid where they could shine. In the end they all got some love and contributed to the gold! Wishing you good luck on your next run and looking forward to the next video!

I think this team is pretty solid, I got them using the following pokemon, which I think are the best to be able to wipe out whatever comes (normally I always used a wall from the list, I saw them as the wildcard to be able to save a lost battle, wearing down, tanking and hitting) Special attackers: - Latios/Latias - Zapdos - Raikou - Gengar - Clefable - Starmie - Kingdra - Moltres Physical attackers: - Ursaring - Shedinja - Snorlax - Tyranitar - Gyarados - Metagross - Tauros - Aerodactyl Walls, that can withstand everything, and can even sweep or hit hard or medium hard: - Swampert - Milotic - Suicune - Umbreon - Porygon 2 - Blissey - Clefable - Registeel

I think it's a great team-very well-balanced. Metagross is really good and fits perfectly with Gengar since it covers it with its ability, and against a Swampert, switching it out and using Giga Drain guarantees victory. Milotic is also very strong; it used to be one of my toughest counters when I was trying to earn the gold medals. I hope you have good luck! P.S. I would use Explosion instead of Hyper Beam since it's a move that will help you weaken many Pokémon: Swampert, Latios, Milotic, Snorlax, etc.

7:54 giga train is not a physical move so it would go well on gengar to hit swampert. It's still 60 base power without stab so yeah swampert and maybe milotic (and rock/ground types) would be the only ones really worth using it on

Changing the Emerald battery is only half the battle. Now you've gotta wait the entire time the clock was dead for it to start working again. Or start a new save.

Dude congratulations on gold! I’ve been grinding the dome as well and gotten to round 10 and lost to mistakes. Gengar, milo, and metagross is such a strong core. Cool to see you do it with a more “traditional” team

You put in the effort and I definitely think itll be worth it. There could be serious counters but i cant think of any that arent pseudo legendaries or actual legendaries. Definitely gonna achieve your gold medal goal this year 🤟🏻. Just a side note i finally got a shiny ho oh in hg yesterday, 50days 60+ hours and roughly 8,274 resets. So W's all around

That’s a solid looking team pal! I’m really looking forward to seeing your improvements as a trainer that come from practicing with the best of the best. I did the same thing. I started my emerald frontier grind with a meta team in the battle tower. By using these common powerhouses I was able to learn the pokemon in the frontier and how they like to move - this knowledge allowed me to use my more niche favorites to win gold at the battle dome alongside my best pal Shedinja! After nearly a whole year, 11 different pokemon all trained and grinded up I managed to get my final gold symbol last friday! I’m now working on my 100 win streak in the tower and will only be using my shiny favorites, it’s gonna be tough but I know I can do it! Thanks for sharing your story nighthawk, it’s made me feel like I’m going through mine right alongside of you :) 2 notes: Giga Drain is special so that’s a good call on Gengar. You can fix your emerald berry issue by connecting it to colosseum or XD. Those games have a patch that auto downloads to the emerald and fixes it

13:20 You need to update the RTC. The day you changed the battery, the clock went back to january 2000 and it needs to catch up to the day the battery died for the events and berries to work
