For years and years Rick has been staring at photos of classic and modern sessions, always trying to learn whatever he can about his favorite producers, mixers, and engineers. He eventually stumbled across a quote from Michael Brauer, about about a 'certain someone' being 100% "in the box" except for one single piece of hardware, which led Rick down the rabbit hole to the discovery that he is p...

its look fun but the prices are too expensive for a controller. thats why i prefer building a touch screen monitor just by adding the infra red touch frame and its work great.

Sounds great...more of the full track with/without would have been nice. Also obviously the sound is the primary goal but so much legibility seems to have been sacrificed for the skeuomorphic design....MASSIVE fader top but tiny legends around knobs etc? A non-vintage skin would be a huge bonus for a lot of people I think. Either way, rock on MBS!
We wanted the console to feel right to Bill and others! Thank you so much!
Damn everyone wants a DBX! Nice comparison. bit confusing but cool. I like the bigSix sound! too bad it blew up both of my event 2020s while on a power conditioner... Its been serviced and coming back, lets hope 2nd time lucky!
oh no!!!
Very excited to track drums (and everything else) through this in MIO console when the new version is ready!
This has to be the most impressive home collection anyone has! Amazing tbh.
Thanks for watching!!

Rick - this is an amazing plug-in. It's well set-up, and super-easy to use. More importantly, it's simply sounds great! I've used it a bunch on guitars, and it really makes them sound great. Lij & I go way back, and I've heard a lot of recordings he's done using the actual board, and I hear those characteristics in the plug-in. I'll add one more note . . . I use a pair of Rupert Neve Design 542 tape emulator hardware units. Running the EQ from the plug-in through the RND542 brings out some really nice cut-through on vocals and guitar without sounding harsh.
Thank you so much for checking it out!!! We really appreciate it.
Even though I will be the first to admit that I don’t always know what they are talking about in terms of technical aspects and gear, it is incredibly refreshing to hear two men have a conversation and virtually finish each other’s sentences because they know exactly what they are talking about. Fantastic interview! I would love to hear more about the recording of The Long Run and some of Bill‘s hidden gems dubbed “Random Victims” with the Eagles & J Geils. Bill did a fantastic job of miking all of the drums and getting the sound of space in the recording.
Could you guys please work together with Softube and help them make this available for their Console 1 mk3 hardware? This would suite the hardware perfectly!
Sounding good my dudes 🫡
@@BuzzJuniorMusic thanks for watching!
Super punchy 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I always figured it waa post production that made it punch...
The sacred art.. I bet Trav picked up a lot working with Jerry...
I didn't know Finn produced TEPM, lol.. Literal first album I ever bought... As a blink superfan, and sound nerd, I love this 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love this channel strip so much. Gets that classic rock vibe better than any plugins I have in the arsenal. Bill's preset on acoustic is _perfect_ for getting that classic CCR 'Who'll stop the rain' acoustic sound! That bass preset is killer too for filling it in and getting it to sit in the mix! Not to mention that Haloverb preset is a sleeper reverb setting for guitars🔥🔥🔥
I remember asking Joe Walsh about Bill when my band opened for Joe in 2013 and his exact words were "Billy Frank is the man I owe my entire career too, he came to Ohio on a covered wagon with a mono machine to find me ". LOL!!! I got to spend about and hour talking to Walsh after sound check. Bill's work with the eagles and the Joe Walsh solo records are some of the best work I have ever heard as whole collective albums. They aren't just random songs put together they work perfectly one into the next like movie plot!
This thing sounds so smooth, and great workflow 😃
Super cool
when would you use the sonic eq over the MBEQ?
I tested some Pulsars yesterday and the difference from a top mix vs a good mix is really noticeable. Serban mixes sounded so good and detailed vs anyone else’s. I always loved Serbans work but listening to his mixes in the Pulsars just made me respect his work even more. What an amazing experience.
This has the ugliest GUI I've ever seen on a plugin

“It doesn’t have a threshold, you drive INTO the box.” Wtf does that mean?
@@jayjones2821 there isn’t an adjustable threshold. So you have to push into it with the input gain to have it react to the saturation and limiter

Wishbone Ash, There's The Rub, great album.
This is amazing! Never heard of those fast relays before. That was truly groundbreaking!
Holy crap. I can’t imagine a world without strings on Thrill Is Gone and Frankenstein being called the ‘warm up song’ 🤯 between Bill and Terry Manning I think they are responsible for 99% of my all time favorite classic songs. Can’t wait for part 2!!!
Amazing!!
Will check it out. Seems like it could really suit my more acoustic finger picked and vocal led music.
@@JohnMarshall-NI it’s incredible for that as well with heavy rock.

We’re stoked to hear what you think!
disappointing that Bill didn't discuss the plugin of his console
We have a bunch of videos of that, we wanted to keep this focused on his career, part 1 will be back up soon.
The "boat" story... True. I live in the Keys When i was a kid we were riding our bikes at Plantation Yach Harbor, a nice marina. We all were beginner musicians. We heard really good music coming out of one of the Yachts. We parked our bikes and sat on the pick nick table that was directly on shore at the stern of the Yacht. When the music stopped, a bunch of guys came on shore and asked us " how did it sound". We said GREAT... We all Chit chatted for a while and then we rode our bikes off. WE HAD NO CLUE at the time. True story...
this is amazing!
Just bought it,no kidding~this is the best sounding channel strip plugging I’ve ever used👍,almost like a no brainer !u put on anything with few tweak then the vibe naturally comes with it,sweet and full of analog mojo, that’s the secret sauce weapon u definitely wanna keep in your arsenal, can’t recommend enough💯🥇
@@MrkingJLO thank you so much!! We’re stoked that you feel the same as us!
Bill is my hero!! I wish there was more interviews of people picking his brain about techniques like his favorite mic choices on some of those iconic albums like the snare drum sound on The Long Run album or how he liked to mic Felder & Walshes guitars. Also his tricks for getting bass guitar to sit perfectly in a mix! Make it happen someone please! He is the most successful producer in music HISTORY! At 81 years old we need his knowledge passed down or it will be lost as a first hand account!!
@@joesalyers you’ll definitely want to glued to our RUclips then because we have an hour and a half interview with him. It’ll be out later today or tomorrow

thanks so much Joey!
This explains the differences I've been hearing
Say it with me fellas I don’t know.
The concept could have been better but still valuable.
what would be a better concept?
The MBSI plug in looks good ( Ilok dongles are definitely a PITA) you should bring in Joe Walsh formally of The Eagles to do an A B comparison between the original mixer (if you can get your hands on one) and the plug in (he really could use some stuff that could take his mind off of politics for at least a moment {this is coming from someone who agrees with his current stance btw})
There is no requirement for an iLok dongle. You can use machine or cloud activations as well. As far as getting hands on the original mixer, there is only one in the world, and that's the one that we captured and used to design the plugin.
