Cheap and Easy Storage of Warhammer /40k Bits
Interesting video. Music extremely irritating.
For anyone in the States, the thinner is often called Mineral Spirits at craft/art shops
I like the fact that they look like metal. It sounds like a stupid statement, but I despise metallic paint for the reason that it doesn’t look like it’s metallic. Thanks for testing
Very good snow efect. I have the same old Citadel Snow and was looking for examples of how to use it. I like the variety of textures did you used.
Looks fantastic! What Ultramarine Blue did you use for base color?
Macragge Blue with a cheeky highlight airbrush of Calgar blue. Primed Black before all of that! Thanks for the comment.
@@WarpGateStudiosDamn that beautifully vibrant! My Macragge looked like dark blueberries. I would’ve guessed Altdorf blue. Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!
This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. There's absolutely no difference from just using a paper towel. Stop selling pointless crap to noobs.
Cool
thanks for watching!
Awesome video, thanks! I'll be getting that Vallejo Water Texture one for sure. What did you use for the grey stones on the bases? Looks great! Would love to steal it. It'd look great with a dark blue pigmented water I think.
Sounds like a great plan! Let me know how it goes! :)
Can't you just use any non absorbent surface to do this? Seems a bit excessive to spend 30-40 bucks on a texture palette
I think mine go for $25 which includes postage but you can find others out there a lot cheaper that 30/40. The mdf has enough grit in it to help the process. I have tried Resin and Plastic texture palettes and they do offer different experiences. But sure anything that doesn't absorb the moisture would work. :)
How about replacement drill bits? Googling gives me no results for wowstick ones, so possibly alternative ones?
Check out Ali Express. They have replacement bits. :)
Thank you for sharing. May you recommend a "Gloss Varnish" on the model before applying the "Streaking Grime Enamel"?
Vallejo or Monument Hobbies varnish works great.
Good way to clog your airbrush. Mix your paints outside the cup.
Thankfully I have don’t have that problem much but great tip! :)
very helpful video. Do you use the chipping fluid without thinners?
Totally I just use a touch of thinner to help with the flow
Very good, I already did tests, now the million dollar question, for the purposes of varnishing before applying decals and washes, what is it sealed with? because that must be sealed before applying decals and oils and then sealing again. I hope you can comment, thank you very much
Hi! It’s sealed with a varnish as the wax needs sealing otherwise it will continue to come off every time it’s handled.
@@WarpGateStudios thanks a lot dear master … I will give a try
I like the dice. Im confused about the different between resin and acrylic dice though.
acrylic are the type of mass produced dice you typically find in most things, cheaper since theyre injection molded and all. resin is a higher quality material and holds up a lot better than the acrylic kind but is usually more expensive, resin is also better for translucent designs
@@Jun-n9i thanks!
Your intro sounded like a bomb going off but your video audio is quiet af.
Thanks for the input! I hope to of adjusted it since! Thanks though for letting me know
Excellent video. 👍👍
Thank you very much!
I s the clear varnish, used to seal, going to be a water based or oil based product?
The varnish is water based to seal it. Vallejo is easy to brush on or airbrush on to create a barrier.
Great video mate, cheers!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video! Helped me! thank you!
Glad it helped and thanks for the comment!
Do you put primer on the dry palette first, or just straight MDF?
I have primed one half black and one half white before and it’s fine. You can also do it without priming. Whatever takes your fancy.
👍👍👍
Cheers!
schould be in eny inventar for modelers. grait color weathering penisls.
Thanks for the comment! Yes they are a great tool!
So these are both the rounded version?
Yes these have the rounded edges. The square ones are nice as well.
It’s pronounced Va-yay-ho
British and Americans do like to pronounce stuff a bit differently. :)
Informative. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Can you use water as thinner or does it need to be a specialized product?
I thinner is needed for this one as it’s an oil based product. White spirit or mineral thinners will be needed.
Can you leave the chipping medium on for 24-36 hours before you apply your paint, or will the chipping medium be too dry to activate?
No I wouldn’t leave it on indefinitely but should still be good to reactivate a day later.
I have this Neatfi lamp and it is indeed amazing.
Totally love it! :)
Thanks for the review. I received a Redgrass R9 lamp for Christmas and I'm thrilled with it in terms of light quality, features, and construction. It is a bit spendy, but worth it IMO if you can afford it. This work lamp seems like it would be a great choice for a budget option. A good lamp is a painting hobby game changer.
Thanks for the comment! Yeah good lighting helps eyes, painting. And seeing the model so well worth investing in a decent light. And yes this is slightly cheaper than the red grass r9 so definitely worth checking out. I am very pleased with all three of my Neatfi lights.
Do you varnish before applying the streaking grime?
Not needed but you can if you want to go harder on taking off the grime.
Very simple tutorial, good work! Can't wait to try this out someday
Thanks buddy! Have fun with it!
I've been using a glass cutting board as my paint palette and it works great but it doesn't have any texture so I just keep swirling the brush around to remove the excess paint. So far so good. I was thinking of getting one of these and priming it to get a better idea of how colors would look when mixed.
Totally! I have seen them primed with black grey and white and they do mimic very well and work nicely!
how do you clean the palette afterwards? do you simply re-prime it?
You don’t have to clean it as the palettes should still have a texture to work on! Eventually the paint may build up but a quick wipe with isopropyl will get the paint off or it may even peel off it you have enough of it.
@@WarpGateStudiosWell, I’m sold!
@@Branpanman we don’t have any in stock at the moment but if you wanted to shoot us an email on warpgatepainting@gmail.com I’ll get you in the list for when the next batch comes in. :)
Thanks for showing your method with this product 👍
No worries thanks for your comment my friend! :)
is that a3 or a4 size?
This is about 8x10” which is closer to the A4 size
Did you varnish the model before doing the streaking grim? Love the content thanks!
You can give it a Matt varnish before applying but it’s not necessary if you are gentle taking the streaking grime off.
Very helpful for beginners like me! I plan to use some of this on my meng F/A-18 Super Hornet
Thank you!
Amazing work as always my friend!
Thanks buddy!
Do you clean the texture pallet or just re use it? thanks
You can give it a wipe with some isopropyl or just keep using it. I would wait until it’s caked on and then peel it off or give it a clean. As long as you still have a texture you are good though!
Yes! Thx
No problem!
hey wow it looks amazing ! can i try it for my first ever miniature ? or is it to hard for Beginners ?
Of course you can try it on your first model. It’s a pretty intense color scheme but looks great! :)
Really helpful comparison, wish I had watched before ordering something! Luckily I ordered the Vallejo Russian, so I’m feeling good about it!
They are really awesome pots of stuff and you will get so much life out of them!
Fantastic video! Thank you for this! I learned a ton!
Glad it was helpful! And thanks for the comment!
Beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial.
One question: when glazing with an airbrush, what psi and dilution do you use?
You’re welcome 😊 thanks for the comment!
This is very interesting and it looks very easy to use.
Yes it’s so much fun! Love having them in my kit!
I use micro pens for 40k details all the time. And I save dead micro pens with water down paint for touch ups
Fantastic idea! Thanks for the comment!
I use a slightly textured cutting board from a discount store. I believe the primer I used on it cost more than the board itself. Works like a charm, highly recommend
Totally! They don’t need to be all fancy and any type of texture works a treat to get the brush ready for your miniatures!
Gah! *slaps forehead* Of course!
Does the pencil weathering wear off if you touch the model? Like do you have to use a spray varnish after or will it be ok without?
Hey Tim! Yes it will eventually wear away so a nice coat of Matt varnish works a treat to seal it all in! :)
I look forward to the next tutorial.
