Peter Elbling's famous line from the 'WKRP in Cincinnati' episode featuring "hoodlum" rock band 'Scum of the Earth', spoken at Phantompalooza 2 in Winnipeg! More Peter Elbling: www.phantomoftheparadise.ca/elbling.html
Where's my man Paul Williams? Score, villain, and hero's singing voice? There wouldn't have been a movie without him.
Probably he was on concert season
Another festival in Winnipeg.2 screenings sold out and a documentary about Winnipeg’s love affair with the movie.Kevin Smith of clerks will attend
Holy crap, I can actually recognize him by his voice. He sounds exactly the same as on Someone Super Like You 😆
First saw this when I was in the 4th grade... didn't understand it, but I knew it was something special. 49 years later, I'm still a fan!
This is so awesome to see them together. 🙏
“Was the car MOVING when he got out of it…?” 🤣🤣🤣
This rules.Jessica Harper is a badass
Beef
Jessica. Just going to say.... It was great to be a 16 year old musician outside the KFC at Greenwood and Danforth a short block away from the Roxy in Toronto's East End. 1979 / 1980 was a VERY GOOD TIME to be a young man.
Jessica didn’t age so well 😱
It's Lonnie Dell from Punky Brewster!!! Pete plays a phony record agent in that episode "Punky In The Record Business"!!! Looks the same here!
He was also in Lavern and Shirley, WKRP, etc.
Beef Beef Beef Beef Beef
To Peter’s right is Gerritt Graham! He gave one of the funniest performances ever as Jeff in “Used Cars”
And we rrrratha LIKE teenage girls.
This movie should have been a cult/midnight hit of the magnitude of The Rocky Horror Picture Show!
*WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T I KNOW THIS HAPPENED?!* 13 yrs ago? I'm genuinely a little heartbroken that I never knew.
Isn't he the same guy that was in the Indiana Jones movie with Sean Connery. ? He was one of the guys that wore the red hats.
Nothing more than a Time Capsule you know the time you remember spending on something utterly irrelevant
Very cool, thanks! Always loved the movie and soundtrack. Sweet memories of my misspent youth.
thats it for him
Love this movie
No word of a lie, this is my all time favorite film. As a graphic novelist artist/writer I have a phantom side story I want to publish.
Okay, that neon lighting bolt scene scared the shit out of me as a child, what was my mom doing taking me to see this? God bless her because this movie is one of the best to ever do it, musical horror. Extra props to Depalma and the whole cast, bravo!
so great that these exist.
R.I.P. William Finley. How nice to see the original cast again.
OK ... didn't know that's what this was. I thought he was talking about "Journalists" ... .
I'm sorry, I thought "scum of the earth" were punk rockers.
Where was Paul Williams?
All our fans is filthy pigs, spinal tap on Simpson's.
I'm so happy!
Say what you want, his reaction way on point.
Love Ebling's smile after he said the line. He really liked reliving that moment.
Everyone always points to the turkey drop ep as their favorite & the best of the series, which is just fine because it's still the greatest but the Scum ep was always my pers favorite, esp when Johnny babysits the band at the hotel.

I translated this in case others were curious too... says: 'Favorite movie ❤ How many times have you watched ~' I believe the comment is written in Japanese.
I wish I could have met William Finley. Winslow is my hero!
Me too.
I did. Hugged him, said THANK YOU too and got both parts of Faust autographed! I think the entire cast was and will always be happily befuddled about the response they got from Phans. The like it . They just can't believe it happened. Especially the concert! That was freaking AWESOME. The JUICY FRUITS, BEEF and PHOENIX sang at the GARRICK!!! LIVE!!!
Me too!!
Wiliam Finely RIP underrated genius.
I loved that episode
all of them looks very good...
Was a huge hit here in Winnipeg for some reason. I was 8/9 when I watched it the first time. My mom had the album. My sister and myself would play it over and over again. Great music!
epic!
still amazed that this movie was a hit just in Winnipeg. Such an awesome movie.
Reportedly, it was also big in Italy, It's how Harper got the part in Suspiria.
And france
@erinwitcraft9141 wow didn't know that
It's sad that there are no interviews on the DVD. This film really deserved more recognition than it got.
I have this on DVD.I remember this came out on cable around 1976 and I saw it 100 times back then.
Arrow Video Bluray in UK have done a bluray I think? Also a DVD ... usually they have a fair few extras
@@user-li3fr8jl3b Don't quote me on on this. But I think this film was sabotaged from the inside. It may have exposed too many evils of the industry. By every law of nature, this film should have been as big as SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. It had great music, a classical foundation, and important messages. . Why did it fail financially?
It took me a minute or two to understand the chicken dance....
William Finley.....:( God bless his soul
A film that will live forever in my heart, I will love Jessica second only to my Mary Jo. As good as The Phantom of the Opera is I would love to see this take it's place next to it.
I LOVE the movie. I saw it 27 times in a theater in West Hollywood. Saw Paul in concert around the same time.
I saw Paul twice in concert in the 70s. The movie MANY times as well, although just once in an actual theater.
Where was Swan???
No kidding. You'd think the star of the movie would make an appearance.
I always thought that if I had a rock group I would model myself after Scum based on this episode - wear expensive suits and rock out.
