JAGUAR XJ13 THE ULTIMATE MODEL , 1/3 scale jaguar xj13
I have a model of this car and no 2, i also have 4 models of the Steed Jaguar XJC
What a shame to let this car rot like this... No protection, no care at all. This is not the most valuable car but for someone who love that car and want to have it, it’s unbelievable!
I love to see a video of The New Avengers Jaguar XJ-12 coupe. I have a friend who is a mechanic at a Jaguar dealership. He owns a 1976 Jaguar XJ-6 coupe in Alpine white with a burgundy leather interior. It comes with a set of wheels from a Jaguar XJ-S coupe. It is a hobby car and loves to drive it around. He also has a 1994 merlot colored Vanden Plas saloon. The car has dual airbags without a glove compartment being for the passenger side air bag. Has the rear tray tables for the Grey Poupon Dijon mustard.
Great car in its day. I had one for 3 years from new.Having spent a fortune on it, the car still survives with Harry Metcalfe, now with a different registration number, colour and a manual g/box. It used to average about 13mpg and I did 60k plus miles in it before selling it in Chester in 1982.
why the robot voice, aint there any humans left? what a car though!!
you had me up to the aerial on the roof. wow, no.
0:56 Do you have any design details about the 5 centre-lock "bolts" (nuts) used instead of the single large centre-lock nut for fixing the racing wheels to the standard Jaguar hubs? Are the custom-made wheel nuts just hex bar turned down to fit the 5 drilled stud holes in the modified wheels, with thick washers machined to suit? The wheel nuts look like they are the "Mag Seat with washer" extended thread lug nut design. These were popular when aluminum wheels first came out years ago, but now they're pretty rare.
^ Not even one "Islamist" in sight = No wonder England is unrecognisable today.... .
When I saw them racing at Zandfort they were fitted with water cooled breaks the car being quite heavy. Adding water made it even heavier ofcourse. Looked and sounded absolutely amazing and shame there wasn't more funding to make it a consistent winner. Beautiful looking car.
in zandvoort they did not have water cooling for the brakes ,, they tested it on the 1976 car but never on the 77 car , it was outlawed for 1977, and the broadspeeds only ever raced in zandvoort in 1977
@@modelmania825 Waaw. I couldn't remember what year, thanks for that.
Recognise a couple of the mechanics, most went to Andy Rouse Engineering when Broadspeed folded.
The pictures of it in Germany are mine - my Boss bought the car, and another publicity bodyshell but aside from removing the dangerously old Speedline Magnesium wheels he did nothing with it until it was sold-on. I'm glad to see that it was restored and put back on the track rather than languishing in a museum as it had for many years. The Throttle-body injection system was 'Borrowed' from a Ferrari.
yes i remember ,, you send me the pictures of the car , rear axle and some other pictures years ago ,, a few monthes ago he sold the rest of the parts and the replica shell
Magnificent!!
It’s beautiful! Almost had a Camaro front end
I used to own the Randell and Hopkirk Red Mini 'BAP' in 1995... I lost track of it now .... anyone know where it is??
Mmmmm what a beautiful cat, just love it.
Show some lucky owner in Germany got Cool car he's one lucky cat owner 💯😁👍
He had a LOT of Jags, mostly E-Types, I worked for him.
Unpopular opinion perhaps but I always felt the wheel arches were a bit clunky. It might be perfect for racing but aesthetically I would want something a bit cleaner.
What sort of a atupid $&?t would allow a unique and valuable car liks this to be smashed up so badly! F#ckwit!
Take it or leave it!! Wheels turns table upside down of any car's profile.. agressive or gentle, man i would sell my kidneys just to olbuy those wheels, those wheels are just as unique as those firestone unique wheels..
yes they are rare , the wheels on the avengers car where a one off set , the wheels on the racecars probably 4 or 5 sets where made , i used to own a full set and 1 seperate rear wheel ,, i sold the set for 10.000 euro and still own the one rear wheel , i also have 1 19 inch speedline wheel of the 1977 racecar
@@modelmania825 darn it...wish I had the money and opportunity both, i would have bought it....for these beauty 10k is nothing...in 10k, today overpriced and overrated things sell...here this thing is priceless and timeless.. Oh yeah i recalled the Firestone unique wheels ""Firestone LXX concept"" even it's tires are specially made..will only fit LXX..
Double-clutching a widebody cat… Not so new an idea apparently.

I had the 4.2 Daimler sovereign in the 80s I did like it at 1st but the steering was very slow to react maybe because of those big tyres that those cars had... The car though was beautiful to be inside with wood everywhere tastefully done.. And very quiet on the motorway... I've replaced it with a Granada 2.8 I more nimble and more fun to drive.. But there was always something about the Big cat in a way.
probably the rubber bushing on the steering rack , when they get older the steering feels like a boat , the whole rack moves first before it starts doing something we used to put metal shims in it so the rack could not move anymore that way the handeling would improve a lot
Loved this car as a kid . Must be saved .imagine it with f type svr in it..
In 1985 I bought an accident damaged 1976P reg 4.2Coupe. Once repaired it was a dream to drive. All my friends who had normal 4door XJ's commented on how nice to drive it was. As for the quality of the car... ummm... that's another story.
I would have been about 12 when my eldest brother came home with a brand new Jag 4.2 - it was in brown with leather upholstery and more buttons and switches than a BBC outside broadcast unit, it was love at first site. My folks had a 1300 mk 2 Cortina - the deluxe model with chrome wheel trims and very little else. The Jag had a/c and electric windows, it went like stink and drove like nothing else I had experienced at the time. I have had half a dozen Jags myself to date, my favourite being the 2000 XJR supercharged beast - what a car. Times are hard now so a turbo charged mini is my daily driver but as soon as things turn around my days of Jaglessness will be over once more.
How the fcck did it end up in that state in the first place ? What a beast
Thats the Machine I would buy if I won the LOTTERY utter respect for that car watching it on TV and loving it then. Need to win the lottery to buy the petrol for it.
Jolly good.
I loved that car
Wasn't there a similar thing done on The Equaliser with Edward Woodwood,?
Well, the character drove a 4 door Series 3 Jag XJ, but not aware it was modified in any way.
His car was a black 1984 or 1985 Jaguar XJ-6 series III saloon. It is an all stock version. I have not seen a "modified" Jaguar coupe or saloon.
This car was always my favourite jaguar , my love of jaguar cars probably started with this one.😊
My favorite Jaguar is the classic ones. The Mark II saloon, the XK-E, XJ-6 models, XJ-S, the XK-120.
Is the single seater a March?
Bugger me, Jaguar should have made a XJ 12 C-RS, looking like this 😅 Maybe.
the bodykit is still available from fibresports in the uk so you can make your own
Cor blimey what about the bird in yellow ! .... Oh sorry I thought it was the seventies for a minute.....
You beat me too it, loved this Jag, loved the show and as for the women, tasty
I always saw "The New Avengers" as a 1970s show, and indeed saw TNA before I ever saw the Diana Rigg "The Avengers".
I was at Silverstone in '76 and watched the "Big Cat" race. It was most impressive on the straights but I seem to recall that the brakes let it down when it reached the bends.
One of the sexiest looking cars ever
A few other things about the "Big Cat" to note: The original color of this car from Jaguar was Lilac. Thank goodness for the repaint! Also, if you didn't realize, at the 2:27 mark, Steed actually looks like he's driving a manual (watch his left arm) and with the correct soundtrack (it were really a manual in the first place) to match. Both Patrick Macnee and Joanna Lumley have talked a great length about the car, with Patrick stating it was an absolute bear to drive due to the modified suspension and Joanna (being a car gal) stating she loved the car, but was always relegated to the back seat! I was also keeping track of the car from here in the US, and after the restoration company tanked, the owner had the car supposedly sent off to another resto company to be completed. Nothing's been confirmed though, and that's the very last thing about the car that I've heard.
Isn’t that Iain Tyrell’s workshop?
it is now , before it was cheshire classic cars and it went out of business , he probably just restarted under a difrent name in the same building,, sadly from the day they closed up shop the car dissapeared and has not been seen , i heard it may have been finished at jaguar heritage , but i am not sure , i realy would like to see it finished
only me that spotted a Miura @ 8:49?
It’s Iain Tyrell’s workshop, I think
@@simes205 yes, the workshop and layout looked familiar. Just looked up Cheshire Classic Cars and this company went into administration 2016.
I used to share an office with John Howlett at Leyland Cars. He was responsible for liaison with TV companies and told me that thing was practically undriveable at normal road speeds, mainly because the steering was so heavy that it was the devil's own job to get it round corners.
yes the wheel offset of the wheels was so wrong it was terrible to drive , they narrowed the wheels only on the inside , so the outside stayed the same to keep the look of the racecars
Wonder where this is now
@@TelBil2010 me to
@@TelBil2010it’s being restored
@@russcooke5671 it was restored , but the company doing it went out of business and than it dissapeared again , i heard it was being finished at jaguar heritage , but not sure of it, and that was about 5 years ago so it should be finished already long time ago ,,, it was never shown anywhere , also not spotted on the road, so it's in someones garage hidden away from everyone
Don't know why they had trouble with the wheels & tyres, Chevy stud pattern, everybody knows that, the largest array of wheel-&tyres possible, derrr
the wheels where 14 inch wide no one makes tires for that in 16 inch , that is why they narrowed them ,, next to that these wheels are soooo rare , only 1 set of these evere existed ,, and of the racecar wheels only 4 or 5 sets where ever made
Sleeping police man, inoculations have made us amuned, is that what the the Davos mob did before unleashing covid on the world ?
i remember watching this car in the avengers
That last picture looks like Tyrells Classics unit?
it is , before it became tyrells , i guess he went belly up , and restarted under a difrent name
I think so too
How do people allow things to get so bad?
should never have happened to this iconic machine...
At the time I thought this was the best car in the world, I still do.
I got to see the car in Huddersfield they had it in the showroom in the Leyland garage.
Great video. There were bits in there I wish I’d known before I did my first! Thanks for the “Sports car story” plug. Much appreciated. I’ve already recorded my next XJC video, but I’ll give your channel a plug in the following one. Thanks again! Pete
looking forward to seeing the next video of your build
I remember seeing the car at the classic car show at Alexander Palace in 1979(I think!) I was a bit disappointed . It was filthy and covered in hand prints 🙄
Sadly film and television props aren't really valued by the production companies once they've finished with them. Mark I Productions probably stuffed it in a lock-up with a load of other stuff and left it there until it was eventually sold. I have a friend who used to work in the model unit on the Bond films and much of the stuff he made suffered the same fate.
