In this session of Hayes University we review the installation process two air cooled chillers. This client had two 250 ton air cooled chillers, which had experienced some failures. Given the age of the equipment and cost to repair the chillers, the best course of action was to replace both chillers. This video provides an overview on the replacement process and planning involved to make this project a success. What brand of leak detector is used in the video? Also what trace gas was used?
During this project we used a Johnson Controls H10 Leak Detector and the gas we used as a tracer was 134a. Thank you for your interest in our video.

That's right! Very reliable machine with proper maintenance.
Make sure to always pull the combustion blower and clean the wheel, also the air damper plates etc. Those blower wheels with just a little amount of dirt can affect you air ratio causing an improper mixture IE to much gas causing soot or incomplete combustion.
Hi Stephen, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, you are absolutely correct. It is good practice to also clean/inspect the wheel/dampers as it can have an impact on your air/fuel ratio. However, we try to keep these videos short and did not cover this procedure.
How often is this procedure recommended on hot water boilers?
Hello! We typically recommend waterside inspection/cleaning of hydronic boilers every 2-3 years. If you have a steel boiler like this, it would still be a good idea to open up the fireside for inspection/cleaning annually. Feel free to reach out to us if we can assist with your boilers!

If the machine is leak free and your oil sample comes back clean,keep low head on the chiller so you don't surge and destroy the high speed thrust and the prox probe is in range there is no need to overhaul the compressor.I have seen Yorks run for 20 years and never come apart.

@@Boojyman i went to school did residential install while in school then got an apprenticeship at a commerical and never looked back would never do resdiential again work on boilers now and heavy commerical/industrial
