My brother in law sold his ‘74 Ducati 750 Super Sport in the same colours like this 900 a bit over a year ago. Mind you he still has 750 GT and 900 SD Darmah. in the past he also has had a 900 Super Sport (Black/Gold), let alone an orange 750 Sport. All wonderful bikes.
Love your theatrics in the "barn"! In Australia we'd call it a "shed find". What's the Dutch equivalent? I have just bought a 75 to add to my British classics and as my daily driver (no winter salted roads here). It was a "shed find" by the previous owner who replaced all of the rubber and other parts which decay in storage and some other key components but the drive train is in good nick. The main issues for me are brake discs (worn out), rear calipers, the long long brake pedal (is there no way of adjusting to reduce travel?) & position of the accelerator - comfort issue on long drives. Very keen to see how you progress. Thanks for your YT channel.
We thought that the term 'barn (or shed) find' deserved some theatrics as it is often used to draw attention to videos on YT 😉 It's 'schuurvondst' in Dutch. New video on the 75 coming soon!
I have a 1988 Alfa Romeo '75' Milano Gold Automatic, yes Automatic! I daily-drove it for 3 months until it broke down. Fuel pump and alternator died. I got the parts, but it is winter here in the States. Mine sat in a field for 12 years, and the previous guy got it running good. This makes Alfa owned number 13, Hopefully it's not bad luck. That's why Alfa's put four leaf clovers on them. Great video! Greetings from St Louis MO USA!
Great story, thanks for sharing!
Nice car
Very nice car, i har the Alfa 90 2.0 1986 model, minst that car
Pretty good English but a little too much 'addressed' 😂
Great video! Someone is giving me a pair of 164LS's (one manual and the other auto) in the U.S. and this is the first time I've seen the Busso on a stand. The manual I'm going to cleanup for stock use and strip the auto for parts hopefully making something more spicy. I know they went for the PRV 90 degree in the DTM cars (apparently derived from a Montreal V8 block casting?). Using the 3.0L 24V 60 degree with a dry sump will get the CG lower and be sufficient for my applications. Cool content subbed!
Very cool shop. Ducati is such a Great Marque. I have a 1996 900sscr and a Bevel Faux 900ss out of an 860GT.
Some people may not like these black rims but I give the owner props for putting them on instead of leaving those originals on to get damaged. The original style 17's and especially the 18/18.5" staggered rims are getting harder and harder to find.
I have the original 18" staggered rims with the car! I will put these on next spring with a fresh set of tires. Next winter I'll be looking for a nice 18" set with new winter tires.
2 of the best.... I owned a Harris TT2 back in the "80's. Beautiful machine!
Very informative and fun to watch, really enjoying your channel so massive thanks for pulling the episodes together!
Great job! I thought I was the man when I took the top end apart on my 1978 gts. Did drive it from Rhode Island to California twice and no issues! I miss it and my motoguzzi S.p. 1000 Happy new year. Take care. Doug. (USA)
A mate's TT2 build from Down Under............. ruclips.net/video/uWkBphIPMI0/видео.html
Very nicely done!
@@BackToClassics Thanks, Appreciate the feedback! 😎
My brother in law sold his 750 Super Sport (not the green frame), but rather silver and blue a bit over a a year ago. What a superb bike it is/was. Still he still has his 750 GT and 900 Darmah, While in the past had owned both an early ‘80s 900 (black/gold) Super Sport (from new) and an orange 750 Sport. All such classic bevel Ducatis. Oh well at least I owned a classic Monster 620 ie (until it was stolen and stripped for parts by some low life crims).
That's a really nice collection of classic Ducatis your brother in law had!
Wheels where the same as the comparable Bimota DB1 and the later 851 tricolore. With modern Shinko tyres the steering is much improved. With these tyres you can actually brake in a corner. Terrifying experience with the old Michelins.
That's right! Only thing is that we've been waiting for these Shinko tyres to come in for months now... The bike would've been finished by now!
@@BackToClassics Same problem here in Italy. There are some older stock Shinko's available but with this brand you want the newest. Any chance of you to review a Paso someday? I feel they are the most underapreciated of all belt drive Ducatis of the 80's and 90's.
So charming ! 'Resto-mod' with OEM+ theme
That's the idea exactly!
I have 1988 milano gold quadrifoglio 2.5 i put the alfa 156 early 15 inch teledial wheels looks good but I think now better to put back the original 14 inch wheels.
Those wheels looks OK but I think find the original 14 inch speedline the factory one
wow, those clip ons are extreme!
The riding position is not too bad actually!
Denk dat het geen kwaad kan je markt te vergroten, afhankelijk van hoe druk je nu bent. Meer klandizie lijkt me altijd welkom.
As a Yamaha fan, it’s interesting to hear about the desmoquattros competing against “bigger” Japanese bikes when they always enjoyed a big displacement advantage in superbike racing. Yes, it’s because they had fewer cylinders, but their success highlighted the advantage (mimicked by the Honda RC51). Nonetheless, IMO, the quattrovalves are classics and the 916 is a proper milestone. If you have the time, space, and staff, they warrant your attention. It certainly expands the market potential. Just take care to maintain your excellent standards.
I think I was referring to 'bigger' Japanese manufacturers, not the displacement. You have to remember that Ducati turned out perhaps 15000 bikes a year when the 916 was introduced. That was about 10 minutes on Yamaha's production line!
I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and am working on watching every video. Don’t own or plan to buy a Ducati, but their beauty is undeniable and your craftsmanship is superb. Your rolling work benches have inspired me to build one. I love your idea of the full and half length shelves underneath and loading bikes off the air table is genius. How far off the floor did you build the bench? My lift stops at 30”, 28”, 26”, and 24” and I can’t decide between 28 and 26 (I also have low garage ceilings, so that’s a concern. Any other tips would be appreciated! Thanks and toodlehdokey!!!
Good to hear you like our videos! Our benches are about 60cm in height.
@ thank you!!!
Thanks, love your presentation knowledge & style, things must have got quite mixed up in that time when Cagiva came to the front.. Back in the mid 90's I had a Cagiva W16 that was a lot of fun 600 single enduro, somewhere between the Ducati Elephant & the full song KTM.. shared a bunch of stuff of the KTM's of the day.. pretty sore ass on the long halls in Oz.. but did teach me the extra fun you can have shifting your weight to the pegs & standing even..
Nice video, I'm restoration Vilar cucciolo, there are some parts that you can get, but you to waiting like some years... When I started back in 2018 when game me this bike from my frand father was only a bike and crack case ... No head, cylinder, carburetor, pedal ... But 2024 I got almost all piece only missing wheels and rubber for wheel and some time to mount everything. I wish the Best I your cucciolo restoration 👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My first Ducati was 1965 Srambler, great on the road not so good in the dirt.
That's what you would have needed an R/T for!
The Scramblers were a very popular bike in Italy, and even as late as the early 2000's I saw a few being used as local roundabouts.
That's true: it was the most popular Ducati single cylinder model throughout its lifespan!
Ducati also made a 125cc 2 stroke motocross bike called the Regolarita, produced from 1975 to 1979.
That's right, sorry for the omission!
The best video on the wonderful GTV I have seen!
Thanks! Glad you like it
Hi, is that a sport 48 in the background (blue) My dad had one in Italy in the 60s. Could you do a video on one if possible. My dad modified his to go faster and also dropped the handle bars lower for more racing position. I am actually looking to buy one to restore or even a restored one already. Love your videos. Keep it up.
That's a 250 Diana Mark 3 in the background, not a 48 Sport.
I love the look of the early 70s Ducati Scramblers, but I also understand why you wouldn’t take one in good cosmetic order off road today. You (briefly) mention the Ducati parallel twins which today seem to be the forgotten Ducatis, what are your thoughts on them? I have a Laverda 500 Alpino in good order which was a competitor back in the day, it’s a nimble, light, flickable bike that likes to be revved - do you have any experience of them vs. the Ducati parallel twin?
I never liked the Ducati parallel twin models. Words you use to describe your Laverda 500 as "nimble, light, flickable, likes to be revved" are also by-words for most Ducatis, but are certainly not applicable to that Ducati line-up. On the contrary: they are heavy, slow and don't like to be revved at all! Fabio Taglioni famously did not want anything to do with the parallel twin project and I guess that shows. I'm sure the Laverda 500 is a better bike in most, if not all aspects.
Oh what a treat.
Hi from the North of England, loving the content and Ducati knowledge in al your videos mate.
Whenever these come up for sale I can't help but entertain the idea. Looking forward to watching the rest of this video after I get home!
a very very beautiful classic. the commentator should get someone else to present, hopefully a beautiful girl.
Bella bestiola 😘 Sei bravo e coraggioso
This Santamonica will be in a great condition soon!
Complimenti bel video e soprattutto bravo per prenderti cura della Twin Spark: auto mai banale, se lo merita! Saluti da una 1.6 carburatori, nel suo piccolo sa regalarmi un sorriso ad ogni uscita 🖐
We are going to revive this beauty soon, so stay tuned!
Fantastische motor, heb eens gelezen dat deze sneller zijn dan de 600 SS die later uitgebracht werden. Heb enkele andere Duc's gehad, maar zou een 600 sl graag bezitten. Top motor om te zien!!!!
FYI none of the estate C55s were built in 2007. All 595 were built in 2004. Now perhaps it was registered in 2007 but not built. Fellow owner btw. My car sits on 18" wheels which looks a lot better than 19". You can upgrade the brakes to 6/4 piston setup. 6 piston even fits under 17" wheels which can offer marginly more ride comfort. Just 270,000km on mine :)
Thanks for your comment. I wasn't aware the C55 AMG Estate was that rare! I researched a bit further based on your comment and what I found is that the C55 (sedan and estate) was available between 2005 and 2007. It was introduced together with the W203 facelift in 2005 (replacing the C32 AMG) and ran until it was replaced by the W204 C63 AMG. Mine was first registered in Germany in April 2007 as a demo car and then sold to the previous owner through a Dutch Mercedes dealership in October 2008 with just 10,000km on the clock. I cannot believe it was built in 2004. I will come up with a plan to improve (and possibly upgrade) the car in future videos!
@BackToClassics looks like I was partially wrong. Prodution of the s203 estate C55 was from May 2004 until May 2007. Mine was first registered in June 2005 but was built in 2004 so quite early on in the production run. I do have a few bells and whistles though. Tinted windows, larger 120mm exhaust tips, AMG limited slip differential (basically a heavily modified c320cdi diff), and aforementioned big brake pack. Yours does look clean though and with less years probably less prone to rust than my own. A keeper for sure and well worth working on. Mine also didnt come with the factory wheels. The wheels it does have (see my profile pic) still do look good though
i would include every naturally aspirated 55 amg as hidden gems
Can I buy a '76 model gear and brake step?
We do have some parts available. Send an e-mail to info@backtoclassics.nl so we can discuss!
Owned a CLK55, these cars are really reliable, fun fact the same person that built your engine was the same that did mine 🙂 The blank buttons are common even in fully specced models, there is always 1 or two blank buttons most of the time.
It was a great personal touch from AMG to put the builder's name on the engines. Good to hear Sandro Petricca did a good job on yours as well!
Yea, those blank buttons it turns out are for the Convertible version!
I've got a alfa 75 3.0 v6 in great condition the sad day as come that I may have to put it up for sale 😢
Think of it as the car having to continue on its journey! You can't keep everything all the time.
Greetings from St Louis MO USA! As a true petrol head, I'm on Alfa number 15. I currently have a 1988 Milano Gold, '75', and it is an automatic! Yes, it's not as exciting as a manual, but with the 2.5 Busso V6, it still sounds amazing. I had 3 GTV6's, and in the USA, they all had Both outside mirrors and air-conditioning standard. I had a '83, '85 and '86. The earlier one had the same seats from the Alfetta and the later ones had the updated seats with the mesh headrest. The shift linkage was improved on the later models also, it made a huge difference. Great video.
Thanks for your comment! I know that the US-spec GTV6s were better equipped than the Euro cars. A/C is something very rare here for instance.
Bad car, old, fast, lot of maintenance. You can do only one thing: please sell it to me !! 😂👍🤟😀🤩
You're right... I'm a true idiot! 😉
NICE👍
A wonderful sleeper. Great cars. Sadly these never came to India officially and the big cost imports were generally E or CLS55. Wonder where you’re based around in the Netherlands
Thanks for your comment! These AMG cars are great indeed. We're based in the town of Bergambacht, close to Rotterdam.
👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩
I did not realise these were SOHC
The earlier Busso are SOHC. The later 24 valve Busso had DOHC.
Great video, any chance you could do one on a Paul Smart?🏍 inspiration for the motorcycle emoji?
I'll surely be doing a video if we get a Sport Classic 1000 Paul Smart in the workshop!
Best engine ever! In my humble opininion
Certainly one of the best engines ever!
