New Topcon MC Max Grader on CAT 140
The Topcon MC Max system is a completely new platform for graders using high speed IMU sensors (common with excavator, dozer, CTL etc) multi constellation GNSS and new V15 3DMC software.
The single mast GNSS/mmGNSS/LPS uses the IMU sensors to initialise and maintain machine heading and offers blade roll compensation and auto side shift to a polyline.

    Another video idea: How you surveyed in the line-work of the building and curb. Specifically when the building's wall is in the way how you shoot the points and elevations (do you do offsets with a tape measure or something like that)?

  • @ericrudd587
    @ericrudd587 6 месяцев назад

    Mr. Topcon, Sorry to ask you more questions but you really know your stuff! 1. I was told with a tilt rotator head (tilt sensor) that I still need the dog bone sensor. 2. With a tiltrotator head is it a complicated process to add new buckets or work tools? I was told that you have to treat it like a new tilt rotator install for each work tool.

    • @MrTopcon
      @MrTopcon 6 месяцев назад

      No worries Eric - this should assist. 1) you need a dog bone sensor if you are running a sandwich rotator setup ie. you can remove the rotator and put buckets onto the quick hitch and still need one in the rotator (some exceptions to this as maybe able to use factory sensor) However if it direct mounted you do not require a dog bone sensor and it will be mounted into the hitch. 2) The new generation of Topcon MC max and MC Mobile systems calibrate the specific hitch (rotator, tilting or quick) to the machine - once this is done at install adding buckets is a very simple process. If you’re adding a tilting bucket it’s a bit more involved as it will have an additional sensor.

    • @MCBuildNH
      @MCBuildNH Месяц назад

      Mr Topcon explain most of it. I have a sandwiched setup so I have a dog bone sensor. And like he said, once a rotator is calibrated you can just calibrate buckets like normal selecting that it will be on a rotator.

    If you move the tracks on the excavator do you need to re-link to the ln-150 or does it automatically update the machine location? With Trimble Earthworks using a total station it needs to be re-linked if the machine (tracks) are moved to know the excavators new location on the site.

    • @MrTopcon
      @MrTopcon 6 месяцев назад

      Yup, the total station follows/tracking the prism on the roof to provide instant position/height information of the excavator - same as grader/CTL/dozer. That seems odd on the Trimble solution, it kind of defeats the purpose a bit…

    • @MCBuildNH
      @MCBuildNH Месяц назад

      @@MrTopconwhat he is talking about is rotating the machine to establish location.

    • @MCBuildNH
      @MCBuildNH Месяц назад

      I have had Trimble UTS and now Topcon mc mobile LPS and as far as location you still need to rotate the machine when you move but the software is more user friendly and doesn’t “get mad” at you if u don’t do it right away. Yes it may be off a little horizontally but you can still see the excavator moving on the screen and it will try to give the location as close as.possible until automatically updating more precisely as you continue to work at the new spot. I used to get so annoyed at Trimble that the screen would go blank and I had no general idea if i moved enough to the new location. Topcon has essentially fixed this problem.

    Mr Topcon - plus one on your content - we love the vids! You mention eliminating the bucket sensor if you have a tilt bucket via a hitch sensor. Say I have a permanent tilt bucket with no rotate. How are you able to get through the calibration application without the dogbone sensor. The calibration app makes us always shoot the dogbone TSi4. Thanks!

    • @MrTopcon
      @MrTopcon 10 месяцев назад

      Hi Michael, to get through calibration you simply don’t tick “dog bone sensor” as the option. The machine calibrates the geometry then you add in buckets/tilt hitches within 3DMC itself. We would setup a standard hitch then add a Tilt bucket to this and all should be well

      Hey, I have a Sharpgrade walk around video ready to go but just waiting for the kit to be officially released (this month). But very similar to excavator, 3x IMU sensors (body, hitch and blade) and if it’s a grader blade then an additional rotation sensor is added . Then you can add laser receivers or sonic tracker if required as it’s 2D backwards compatible

    Thanks for creating these videos. Could you tell me (and maybe show in a future video) what the procedure is if the LN-150 looses sight of the prism? An example would be if you spin the excavator around and the boom interrupts the ln-150 to prism line-of-sight.

    • @MrTopcon
      @MrTopcon 10 месяцев назад

      Hi Eric , no worries will do but in the meantime there are “find me here” on the plan search view along with turn total station controls. There will be options to set “home positions” so you can have it turn to there which can be updated as you move around the site. Loosing the prism due to rotation doesn’t seem to be an issue if it’s positioned correctly, elevated and far from centre of rotation.

    • @MCBuildNH
      @MCBuildNH Месяц назад

      The LN 150 goes into an auto search pattern. As of right now you can’t modify the search pattern but it does function ok if you don’t move and wait for it to re connect. Otherwise you can control it from the screen to your general location and start a search pattern.

    • @MrTopcon

      With the LN-150 it does need to be ground based control or prism based as the LN-150 doesn’t have reflectorless measurement (no scope) If you’re wanting to use target based setups you can use the system with GT/PS total stations that are machine control upgraded.

      Yup what he said, if it’s a direct fit tilt rotator then a 5th sensor isn’t required

      @MCBuildNH Месяц назад

      @@MrTopconwhat do you mean by direct fit? If your tilt rotator has a built in rotation sensor it should connect directly to Topcon through CAN connection. I have a rototilt on a wet coupler and we ran the can connection of the tilt sensor right through the electrical connection of the main rototilt coupler and the rotation sensor is built in so when I drop the rotator it automatically disconnects everything without having to separate wires.

    • @MCBuildNH
      @MCBuildNH Месяц назад

      Yes

    • @MrTopcon
      @MrTopcon Месяц назад

      @@MCBuildNH by direct fit means the hitch is pinned to the stick compared to their being another quick coupler so you can remove the rotator, some of these can be optioned with SQ or EC oil quick disconnect. Most rotators have the rotation sensor in them (some governed by size) which sends rotation information back to the machine control however you may need to fit an IMU to register the hitch tilt position. Some Rotators now have IMUs fitted that machine control systems may be able to use.
