Hey, that’s a fair thoght process. You’re right, I’m no big shot. No prizes (that I know of at least) and no smashing singles or albums when it comes to sales numbers. However, i’ve made the music I like regardless of sales and gatekeepers - for 30 years (alongside life) And for the past 5-6 years I’ve done more producing and mixing/mastering for my friends, and then for strangers as my skills improved. Again, no radio hits, but straight up passion driven music making. So if you want to make popular, on-demand music with hit potential, I’m not your guy. If you make music in your spare time just because you have to, you’re passionate about it and you want to release it, I might be your guy. Look up subphotic on streaming platforms to check out the songs where the artists where so nice that they credited me. I make beats, do cuts & scratches and mix and master. Twin MK2 is a no-brainer. I have the MK2 and the Apollo X6. The dofference is minimal👍

Another way to go is using a clipper plugin, such as this one ruclips.net/video/yDPxYODM1Ps/видео.htmlsi=zgSUSHz4ec0jX4dr where you can reign in the dynamics without loosing punch, but at the cost of «clean» depending on how far you push it. However, of course it’s better to get a good balance in the mix, but here I didn’t have that opportunity. Thanks again for chiming in, all the best🙌😀

Used aux splitter initially. Then I expanded with a $100 Behringer 4 channel headphone amp, which really made a big difference when recording artists. A splitter works OK but it’s nice to be able to adjust individual volume levels

@@subphotic went with Topping D70 Sabre. I don’t think you need it though but it does open up the detail however it get so subtle at that end. I think speakers are more important. The DAC lets me hear transients better so for dynamics and separation it can really give me a good direction.

@@marcosrotllan yeah, as I stated at the end in the video, anything actually goes. If price is a concern, there are far cheaper alternatives out there that’ll do the job. The difference often lies in build quality, included software and overall component quality and the amount of, or lack of, corner cutting. I’ve had 5 different sound cards before the UA, and none of them can compare on those terms. However, all of them did the job.

Audient EVO 4, for sure. Smart gain is plug and play for good recorded vocals for me to make bad with mixing. 😅
