I would recommend RME Babyface Pro FS any day over universal audio twin. Especially if you don’t own a Mac or have headphones that require some good power.
@subphotic i was thinking about the baby face before I got the mt48 I may still get it cause that mt48 I jumped in the water not knowing anything I no should have got something smaller. But I saw that rme baby face it looks small and simple and I have heard nothing but good things about it.
Perfect timing! I’ve been debating between an Apollo mk 2 or the X. I used to have the OG Apollo FireWire but had to downsize my studio. Looking to re up on an Apollo for tracking vocals for myself
So good! Yeah, it’s really a matter of connections and if you’re opting in for slightly better conversion. I bet there are some used mkII out there, and some shops might even still keep them. The X is obviously easiest to grab a hold of. Best of luck🙌
Hey, thanks! It’s basically an input for an external preamplifier, such as the UA 4-710D or any other preamp that has optical out. This way you can get some more inputs.
Hey, thanks for saying so! If I had a more than half decent computer (good processors) I’d go with the solo or duo. Many of uad plugins are now native, ie no need for the external dsp/ sharcs. But for running regular uad in mixing I’d go quad. Some of the plugins swallow half a sharc. Just for tracking a duo is more than good enough. Here’s an overview of how much of a sharc each plugin needs help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/215262223-UAD-2-DSP-Chart Good luck😀
where do you think it is noticable to have the better A/D conversion? and the transfer speed of Thunderbolt 3 over 2? I have an option to buy a twin MKII quad for a really good price and I don't think I would ever hit the limit where I would notice the transfer speed difference upgrading from arturia mini fuse 4
Switched from RME. RME are boring and dull. Solid units but Totalmix and the attitudes on the forum was crap. Im so happy since switching, reliable with a cool design. It might have had issues over the years but it works well. Its more limited than the RME but for I need its great. I think some bought one had a few bad experienced but I have tried many other interfaces. The Twin is just solid now. I will add I use a DAC though. Its internal DAC is really good, but to step it up for mastering I do use a better DAC, but I could cope using the inbuilt one. I have the Twin X. The unison setup is fantastic, I have recored vocals that just need very little treatment.
@@subphotic went with Topping D70 Sabre. I don’t think you need it though but it does open up the detail however it get so subtle at that end. I think speakers are more important. The DAC lets me hear transients better so for dynamics and separation it can really give me a good direction.
Used aux splitter initially. Then I expanded with a $100 Behringer 4 channel headphone amp, which really made a big difference when recording artists. A splitter works OK but it’s nice to be able to adjust individual volume levels
@@marcosrotllan yeah, as I stated at the end in the video, anything actually goes. If price is a concern, there are far cheaper alternatives out there that’ll do the job. The difference often lies in build quality, included software and overall component quality and the amount of, or lack of, corner cutting. I’ve had 5 different sound cards before the UA, and none of them can compare on those terms. However, all of them did the job.
What’s your favorite audio interface?
Audient EVO 4, for sure. Smart gain is plug and play for good recorded vocals for me to make bad with mixing. 😅
@@razhmazhI’ve heard nothing but praise for those👍
Love my MOTU M4. Might not be the best out there, but it has served me quite well.
Mine is getting delivered now, be here Monday 💪🏾
I have the Solo and I love it!
Awesome!

Great video!
what does "optical in, which facilitates the external preamp" mean?

Can you use a decent number of plugins with the duo, or do you really need the quad core? Thanks for a great video!

Im selling mine, great condition. NYC
I have Audient ID22, but the Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII is on my wishlist ✌️
The Audient should do great, tho. How are those monitor control features on that one?
I'm not an expert, but there's a monitor knob and you can slide the knob, of course?
@@barec5122How does those features compare to the Twin in your opinion?
@@subphotic Not sure yet, but I thought you would get some plug-ins and preamps with the Twin that are very good.

Twin MK2 is a no-brainer. I have the MK2 and the Apollo X6. The dofference is minimal👍

Is it actually fine that it only has one Headphone out? I mean u need at least 2 when working with artists. Aux splitter is okay?

@@subphotic well thats a downside for sure
Ah yes you use a Mac, for the windows folk I’d always tell people to skip Apollo too many problems, I got the ssl 12 instead would recommend to all
Hey, thanks for the input. SSL is a great option. I should have mentioned more clearly that I come from a Mac point of view. Salute!

Hope it’s treating you well😀🙌
Overrated souncard. Overrated youtubers....
Which one do you use?
@@subphotic just a komplete audio 6 mk1. No need more.
In case I change I would go to a usb ssl. I dont need more. UAD is as overpriced
