I don't think I will ever move to Mac os from Windows that's like jumping out of the frying pan into the fire, but worse,so I jumped to Linux and it just works, just the price for Mac os is much, and the walled garden is way to high.

As an engineer windows is a must since we use so much 3d randering and apps that only use in windows, but i really like how mac os works, its just not an option as an engineer.

Windows 11 sounds much improved, but I will avoid returning to Windows 11 at any cost. I have a system that is able to run Windows 11 in it's sleep, in fact it came installed with Windows 11 Pro as requested. Having installed but one program, I immediately uninstalled Windows 11 and returned to Windows 10 Pro which as previously worked flawlessly. As I backup my system drive, I again tried Windows Pro about 12 months ago and after playing around with it, again returned to Windows 10 Pro as Windows 11 was still incapable of working as required when recording audio. It continues to add an ultra low level noise to audio recordings. Something which Windows 10 does not. Plus, I don't like the inconvenience of having to dig ever deeper to make advanced changes, along with those that are no longer available to make. I don't like MS playing Nurse Maid. Windows 11 is so filled with bloatware of which if there was even something I'd even consider using, I would purchase the real deal and not use a Microsoft lookalike. And of cause, Windows 11 is put together in such a way that it follows absolutely no logic or even follows after Windows 10 in layout. As with 10, the Taskbar is still an interfering nightmare that you have to tolorate, because it won't remain hidden when you want it to be. Windows 11 might well have become more stable then at first, but compared with the stability of Windows 10, it's still learning to walk. They only instability with Windows 10 in my experience is caused by a Microsoft Update that is unstable. One of which Microsoft refuse to fix quickly and the only fix is to keep uninstalling it until they do. Something they appear to do more regular as the deadline for Windows 10 approaches. Nothing like a good boot in Microdot's direction. And of cause all this is leading to the next stage, where Microsoft force you to upload your data unto the web and they then charge you for access. A legal version of data blackmail. And the real reason behind TMP 2.0 is not for your own security, but that of Microsoft's. Their intention is to access and use your computer to create one super computer. TMP is essentially there to ensure that your computer is safe for them to hijack. Presently, they cannot do this with 10. And please, tell me what is so good about Pass Keys, I find them even more open to breaking than passwords. Even more so by those used on Microsoft Computers. Where I have to, I create one so I can sign in and then replace them with a password. Windows 11 is Microsoft's first attempt to gain deeper access to your computer. Spyware is no longer enough. I will resist Windows 11 at all costs. Windows 12, will be a much improved system, but with Microsoft seeking ever greater control.

The system partition is read-only so you cannot break it. The preinstalled software is not very bloaty and doesn't take up much space. Games being compatible is just a matter of them supporting the operating system. windows is more popular so they make more money supporting windows.

replace the battery. reduce power settings. Windows uninstallers do not delete all your files either. mostly because you may want to keep settings or saved files that are not in the documents folder. NTFS is proprietary. To prevent damage from limited NTFS drivers, they disable writing to NTFS. AirDrop is literally just Wi-Fi.

Warning: Unless you are wealthy, go ahead, make 100% sure you do your research first and know your wants and needs before decide to switch to MacOS.

There is a massive flaw in windows. I don't like grouping at all, I use windows un grouped. Active window is almost indistinguishable from the rest. They broke it and keep it like so I believe starting from windows 8

3:23 Command + X on Mac is not the same as Ctrl + X on Windows. When in Finder, you Command + C for "copy" then Option + Command + V to "move" rather than "copy" which is effectively like "cut/paste" in Windows.

With windows I didn't need to change much about the OS itself but with Mac I need to make this changes to not kill myself.

Been using both when I got a Mac new back in 2017 it was debatable which Os was better, but over the years windows thanks to Microsoft just kept getting worse and more heavy and macOS started to improve, if not for gaming I would’ve switched to macOS and lynx full time

From a lot of arguments and discussions I've seen on this age-old subject, all it really comes down to is task and preference. And tbh the loudest most militant proponents/opponents of each OS tend to be a small minority of niche power users that don't represent the most common case, or just annoying OS evangelists. I personally use and love both for their own reasons. Seems people just love to pick sides and feed into some weird superiority meta.

Linux is miles ahead of mac

Alright I'll say it since no one else will: Docker on windows is miserable, if you are going to spend a lot of time setting up docker containers and debugging issues in that realm, just get a mac from work. or a linux laptop if they provide them. everything else in the swe space works everywhere so it doesnt matter. windows has 1000x better window management and productivity (right click delete files and folders, separate mouse and touchpad settings, etc) but it falls over with docker desktop and wsl bricks itself every other week

ecosystem doesn't exist, my Air pods easily automaticly connects to my windows and using sharedrop or any other service u can "airdrop" any size files from iphone to your windows AND forget about gaming on Mac

You’re right about the whole same language but different dialect thing. And on that note something I wanted to say about deleting apps. Apple’s drag to trash and MS’s uninstall from settings both leave junk files. I use both computers and previously *on both* I would have to go through the Program/User files and delete things. That’s if the app developer was gracious enough to label their data correctly so I could know what it was. Windows devs tend to not be, or even worse, their data is vomited into Documents as if I wouldn’t want to use that folder myself. GTFO of my Documents folder please. Now I have an app on each system that finds system data and removes before uninstallation and it helps a lot.

Your Mac cant even play games

Check your workflow before getting a Macbook. If it fits, it will perform better and last long time off the wall. I've got a colleague at work that uses one and it never fails to impress me.

I had a windows 7 pc but then moved onto Mac very quickly as it was the only computer that I could use, then moved to windows again but I use Mac as there are certain apps on Mac that work better or are only on mac. And then I have my tablet as a small on the go device with my phone being my hotspot if I need it
