This TAS is a metaphor for the human life. For the endless pursuit of what's beyond. For the need to break barriers and make a name for yourself. For the profound fear of being viewed as mediocre. And for what?
Thanks hop for suggesting this, it was a lot of fun to make! In Dream Weavers I added the extra challenge of not being able to die by falling because the levels are all floating islands and you could argue that at some point Spyro falls back in bounds. And also because it was a fun challenge. I guess the whole concept of "out of bounds" is a little fuzzy. Just don't think too much about it.

I love creative TASes like these! Especially when you force an enemy to hit you even when you're out of bounds. That's just nuts

Oh wait, you used proxy jumps. Jump is in the name, so therefore you've failed your challenge.
The term proxy jump isn't really used in the Spyro community, they're referred to as just proxies. I did use a mechanic called supercharge autojumps though, so there's that. I defined jumping as pressing/holding X while Spyro is grounded and not in a menu, because I felt like it was the closest I could get to an objective definition, but you can definitely argue that supercharge autojumps shouldn't have been allowed. I don't think they were necessary to get through any of the levels, but they did make some parts a lot more convenient. Regarding your other comment, you don't actually need to go through any of the end of level vortexes to open Loot. You would have to go through the vortex in Gnorc Cove though to open the Twilight Harbor head. Overall, a jumpless 120% might be possible, but you'd have to figure out some very tricky things like how to get out of the starting area of Town Square.
Now do 120% without jumping. I look forward to seeing how you get into every Return Home vortex without jumping, Gnasty's Loot won't open if you don't do that.

I love the creativity with that extra condition on Dream Weavers, so glad I got to see Spyro get flattened out of bounds
"Is Spyro a horror game?" It is slightly cursed. I experienced a bug in Metalhead where I left the boss area after killing the boss and revisited the area near the first boss gate and the dragon, I could hear the sound effect of the small armored gnorc being killed repeatedly. This was uncanny and unsettling as a kid, because to me it felt like some sort of armored gnorc holocaust going on behind the scenes.
That sounds terrifying! I hope there's a way to replicate it.
@@Peteguy100 It may have been one of the audio glitches triggered by staying in the same level for too long. I've never seen the bug more than once though.
Enter the Dragonfly is a horror game when game breaking glitches occur, used to scare me as a kid because it happened all the time 🤣

Is that a new approach to early loot?
Not exactly new, just a slightly different (slower) version of the TAS Early Loot, because I was tired of doing it optimally. For RTA purposes it might be possible to find a setup that gets you directly under the dragon head from on top of one of the other heads, like in the TAS. Getting under the floor and executing the rest of the trick like this is almost certainly TAS only.
Im just curious what are all the sideways bunper roll inputs for, especially when freeing dragons?

The ones when rescuing dragons, entering portals, etc., are just for fun, they don't really offer any advantage for a TAS. Maybe you realized this already, but the TAS often uses rolls against things like sloped surfaces and fodder hitboxes to gain height. In those situations there's a functional purpose for the rolls, and there's a good chance this run wouldn't have been possible without rolling.

Is it weird to think that whenever I see someone do a Tool-Assisted Speedrun of Spryo 1 for the original Playstation 1, Lofty Castle song from the soundtrack starts playing in my head for some reason.
This game does have a very memorable soundtrack with Lofty Castle being a particularly memorable track (my favorite track in the og trilogy), so I don't think it's weird at all to have an association like that.
@@Peteguy100 Yeah, and it's not just that song, but the entire soundtrack entirely. Same with how Spyro 2 and 3 are from the original PS1 game.

I had this saved in my watch later and was excited to watch it and then when I did I was prepared to remove it from my watch later list and move on with my life no likes given. But that sound effect and zoom and rotation at the end really turned me around. likes and subscribes

Compared to 1, Spyro 2 and 3 have a very different physics engine that I'm not familiar with. It would be cool to learn 2 and 3 some day, but for now I'm sticking with 1.

I noticed you used my route for gnorc cove. I had thought my route following the first dragon was actually timed to be barely slower than just tasing the standard route. Is it actually faster?
The standard route is about half a second faster, just tested it. This was just an oversight on my part, I tend to get impatient and less focused towards the end of making these TASes. I still think the wallglide route is pretty neat though.
@@Peteguy100 agreed. My main motive for creating it was just because it felt more direct and looks cooler tbh. No worries.

Why did you loose sparx in peace keepers?
It's so Sparx wouldn't pick up any gems that aren't magenta ones. In Dr. Shemp for example, if you use the whirlwind to get up to the tower Sparx will always grab some of the gems there, as far as I know.
Is picking up other gems against the rules?
@@FalconFetus8 It's against the arbitrary rules that I made up. I thought it would make the TAS a bit more interesting, and it also just felt more appropriate to me.

I do think this is a pretty fun concept for TASes. Avoiding some gems while collecting others creates unique situations that you don't see in other runs. If you haven't seen it already, you might enjoy the Red Gem% TAS by ToastedKat, link is in description. It's not meant to be as optimized as this one, but it's a really fun watch nonetheless.
