Sir where we can use frequency distribution in daily life
Identifying Mode of data, understanding distribution of the data using histogram or for understanding preferences (product, taste, flavour etc.). Additionally, please lookup the video tutorials on probability distribution.

The present case itself is a real-life case. You may need to extend the thinking related to the concept on similar lines as described in the case.
Compuation is really cheap these days. Would it still be considered excessive to calculate them?
It is not a case of cost of computing power. It is whether one wants to invest extra time in computation. Instead, using visualization and SD can provide an enriched outcome. For kurtosis, it depends from case-to-case.

In any system or process anything whose value can change is a variable.
That is such a cool example at the end, for most touched objects. This is particularly interesting when thought of in the context of designing cleanroom laboratory's.
