Ambient Music for Stargazing, Meditation, and ET Contact
Not seeing anything here you can't do with an Akai MPD or any other set of MIDI pad + CC controllers that have been around for decades. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only major difference I see is the feedback from the lit pads.
Yes and no. The big difference is that Move is standalone, so all the sampling is happening directly on the device, without needing a computer. Everything I show in this video can be done with just a midi controller , Audio Interface, and Ableton (though things like directly sampling into the Drum Sampler are not possible in Ableton) , but it would take 10-100x the amount of time since you'd have to add tracks, add simplers/samplers, route audio, drag audio to and from those samplers, and midi map controls. The point is to work as quickly as possible so you don't lose the creative flow.
@@CoreyBakerCoreyBaker I don't see the advantage. If you just have a template file already set up to your Ableton, then you would already have track, samplers and your controller mapped. You would just have to do it once and then you are good to go, not every time you are going to improvise.
The advantage is the immediacy of being able to resample anything on Move as well as sample anything from Ableton (and any computer audio like RUclips or Spotify) into Move, as well as sequencing a pattern/groove right then and there and then recording it into Ableton. And again, when resampling/sampling in Ableton, you have to capture the sample and then drag it into a sampler, and then add/control effects and whatnot. As opposed to on Move where you can instantly sample/resample into a Drum Rack slot, and sequence right away. It's fine if you don't see the value, but in my experience, this is one of the simplest and quickest sampling/resampling workflows i've found for getting ideas going quickly. Just sharing my perspective. Thanks!
Awesome man! And the vocal effects peppering the video are truly the stuff of science fiction... haha. I enjoy these types of videos because I am planning to splurge on a move as soon as possible and it answers many questions about routing etc.
Thanks man! Move is a good move!
looks like fun!
it's a blast man! now i just need to figure out a way to make the desk look cleaner lol
Very cool workflow! What interface is that?
Arturia Audiofuse. It's an incredible interface. I got rid of my Apollos in favor of the Audiofuse!
Just stumbled on this while waiting for morphagene to show up, this is wicked
incredible module! i've since gone "sober" from modular, but still my favorite module that i ever got to play with. Have fun man!
love this!!
super dope!
Definitely grabbing this bad boy!!!
I see the potential and I’ll probably grab it but either way I’d love to see more demos!
Cool moves. Especially like using automation to change up the sample start point. More please!
Thanks man, It's been really fun! Did some experimenting with drum breaks and doing the same thing, gets into some really glitchy tracker style stuff. Looking forward to sharing more!
Sounds like Daft Punk :D
Merci!
This slaps nice work ;)
its tooo much fun man!
janky but stanky!
dang, put that on a tee shirt!
This is a useful and convenient workflow.
I’m glad you’re exploring new ways of making music. That definitely helps make Making Music more fun.
Happy New Year Corey!
Yes lad absolutely sick tune
Yep. Rad. Totally awesome
audio is identical to voltage if sampled at 44.1k 16bit, the only difference is gain past that

Hey Corey! You’ve already either posted the unreleased Kill Paris songs on SoundCloud, or they’ve been leaked for a long time. When I meant unreleased songs, I meant stuff like Your Remix of Drake’s Over My Dead Body, Or Some Demos and some remixes you’ve never posted. In the reply of this message is a big list of stuff that you haven’t posted or have only really played live.
Remixes: Ellie Goulding - High For This (Kill Paris Live Remix) SoMo - Ride (Kill Paris Remix) Tank - Celebration (Kill Paris’ Live Edit) Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism (Kill Paris Remix) Originals: Kill Paris - I’m Just Tryna Get The Party Started Kill Paris - Congratulations, You Won (The next few are from an episode of Dancekraft 079, They might be fan named, but if you look em up, You’ll find them posted by my second channel) Kill Paris - 2013 ID 1 Kill Paris - 2013 ID 2 Kill Paris - Supabass Kill Paris - Horn Beat 2.0 Kill Paris - I’m Going To Show You Also, There are a TON of awesome songs from your RUclips video that you posted on the Kill Paris channel called: Drops that never dropped. (1:50 is incredible) P.S. If you run out of songs to post, Maybe post some stems or instrumentals of songs you’ve already posted. I’d love to hear them. (Especially the instrumental of The Love We Shared, That’s my favorite song of yours)
There are prolly a lot more, But those are the ones of the top of my head. Also, I’ve been recently trying to make tracklists of some of your old sets that weren’t recorded and I’ve found a lot of Unreleased songs from TomorrowWorld 2013 that I haven’t heard before.
I'm posting all the "Classics" in .wav form (the bootleg pack from the website are only mp3, and probably hard to find in wav format on the web) i'm also attempting to release all of this stuff in as close to chronological order, as my memory serves, as to relive that time as a listener. I have 14+ unreleased/live edits that will be released on the Patreon, in conjunction with the classics. I'm still looking for some of the particular ones you had mentioned, but I can't promise I will be able to find them all!
@@CoreyBakerCoreyBaker sounds good! I didn’t realize they were .wavs. I thought that you didn’t know that you posted them, But I’m glad you do.
@@CoreyBakerCoreyBaker also, please post all the songs and remixes from the Drops that never dropped Video!
Good stuff brother
Forgot to mention, But please post some sets from Kill Paris too! I’ve heard that you’ve played a lot of Festivals. (Like TomorrowWorld 2013, and Coachella 2014)
Hey, Corey! I'm making a Huge Compilation of ID's (More than 600 Right Now) and would like to ask for your old ID's, Demos, Bootlegs and Live Remixes and stuff like that. It's all just stuff from 2013, and while I do have a lot of stuff from You, but It's not that great of quality. Your take on Dubstep (LoveStep) was absolutely incredible, and I still listen to it everyone and then. (I still listen to your set at Ultra 2013 every once in a while) I am aware you have posted some online, but unless it's on your Kill Paris website, They are now incredibly hard to find. I love your stuff, and I think that Kill Paris was an amazing project.
Its mostly stuff from Electronic artists, (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Sander van Doorn, Martin Garrix, Nicky Romero, Zedd, and stuff like that) but there are a couple from some bands
Also, Is some of that stuff in the mega folder that's on your patreon? I'd be MORE Than willing to pay 10$ to get that stuff.
Amazing to hear from you and thank you for the support over the years! I don't believe I have that stuff on patreon, but that is a great idea/great motivation for me to find everything I can from back in the day and put it up there. Can't promise how quickly i'll be able to find that stuff, but you are welcome to join the free tier on the patreon so that you get notified of updates! Thanks again!

But what is the auto-filter rack doing because those are some great sounds..
it's filtering...automatically. LOL, to be honest I don't quite remember specifically, but i've been messing a lot with using auto filters before saturation/distortion and it's quite fun to explore the different types of sounds you can get. Lots of fun messing with the circuit types, cranking the resonance, and using the lfo/envelope section. especially doing something like band pass and making the filter quite narrow, reducing the high frequencies, but then slamming it through some saturation. makes for some "cleaner" distorted sounds.
great tip, used to muck around with loops in sony acid chopping little bits and throwing them all in, will try this with ableton, nice work
I started on Acid too! Remember the Acid loop packs back in the day!? lol
@@CoreyBakerCoreyBaker still use some acid loops to this day, premium loops bill laswell etc, still got them on my pc, dig into them every now and then :)
It is available in Live Lite and Intro
lite seems so dang robust now
@@CoreyBakerCoreyBaker it really is! I've had a lot of fun seeing what can be done with it. 8 tracks is the main limitation imo

amazing! thank you!
2:50 I think it's because there's a per-note filter (polyphonic)
It's technically per-voice
@@MrReeTart yes
Yeah u convinced me
Watched an in depth tour of Drift by SeedToStage and he didn't even mention this!! Nice find :)
He's a legend! Love his Operator series, it's helped me through some "dark" times.
what stream, when?
mon wed and fri 1pm cst www.twitch.tv/coreybakerofficial
Wow, as a Pro Tools user, im ngl...a lil jealousssss
yikes, outed yourself! lol
you can play chords with the filter b/c it's multiple filters on a monosynth, or paraphonic synth with only 1 filter you can only get the filter to track one note, but Drift is polyphonic, so there is a filter per voice. In this case you had it set to 32 voices, so you'd be able to play 32 different notes and have the filter track all of those independently!
So wild!
Wow
oh that is pretty sick actually haha
Quite Good Sir
I think I'm going to go play with drum sampler
