SOLAR 1 YEAR LATER & BLACKOUTS PREP
Yeah, I have a few bins of redundant cables and power adapters, and then I have a clear out and need one I threw away the following week 😃. Interesting that you get work from Instagram, never though of it that way, especially for my industry, picked up a few enquiries via LinkedIn. Always that decision of what to invest in for the business and the risk of whether or not it will pay for itself.
I’ve picked up loads of work of instagram and RUclips , when your in a little neich of the market as I suspect you are people love to see what you do and then they remember
Good Lord Almighty, my friend you are very knowledgeable and very hilarious. I thoroughly enjoyed this video…… effing awesome
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for the comment it’s allways nice to get good feedback
No more podcast? What happened? 😮
It was time to give it up
@@Actual_electrical_content shame. Sam's boring AF on his own 😅
Greetings from holiday inn derby bean bag face
Derby you poor sod

Great video, you can also use an inductance meter on the bigger motor windings and a milliohm meter as they read very low resistance and look like they are short circuit on a standard multimeter. Also good rule to make for yourself is to NEVER rest tools or fixings inside the terminal box on the bigger motors. It will help you sleep at night when you can’t find that spanner you were sure you had on the job last week.
Hi Jamie Love your stuff , trying to get in contact via your website but the chat bot isn’t working. Been trying for a few days now Any way else I can try , don’t do other forms of social media
Instagram is best
this is sick- I’ve got absolutely fuck all idea what I’m looking at- but I’m by fascinated by the more industrial engineer-y plc motor etc etc side of the sparky world. I’m halfway into my adult lvl2 electrical course and really enjoy it, but we don’t/wont touch on complex stuff like this 🤣 have you got any book or resource recommendations as a starting point? Love the content hope 2025 treats you well bro!
Well you have my collection of videos and I’ll soon be doing a video on some of the other people I like to watch who I think would help people like you
Slow your talking down a bit. I can't understand everything you say. Wouldn't fucking mind but I'm also a sparky and from Nottingham! 🤣
Sorry duck , put the subtitles on
Mass production means money. Serial numbers too! What is the BMS interface that decodes the RS485?
The interface on this project is a bespoke industrial PC BUT you can get a cheap rs485 serial converter and do the job no problem and there are a couple of tools you can get to read the modbus I will do a video on itv
I enjoyed the self employed blogs, i've enjoyed the more technical ones.. the office ones are good too. It's actual good content on youtube. What were those nut screwdrivers you got that were insulated - I need them in my life.
The nutvdrivers are wiha but wera also do them they are really good , I’ll be doing more behind the scenes like this
Nice inclusion of the earth terminal next to the CT return terminal to allow the shorting link to be stored. Usually find myself hunting around for those on sites. Your comment about the issue with open circuit secondary on CTs is why we were always advised to use hooked tab crimps for CT secondary winding, so if the terminal became loose, the wire was less likely to fall out.
Cheers , glad sombody noticed because I designed that storage in hence why the terminal is orange with the links and not an earth terminal as the earths only accept 1 jumper , hooked terminals never used one myself but I come across them loads and thst a titbit of knowledge wong forget
Hi Jamie , I'm really interested in the CHP, the switchboard, switchgear, transformers and into the grid. Can you do a full video of the systems how those peak plants work please mate. Its rare and privileged to be in front of that innovative tech. Please mate with the way you breakdown the process is of the rail. Love your content, wish it were longer. Bless
I don’t work on the Parker’s anymore so don’t have access up the equipment mate
@ I’m glad you did cause the videos you did are amazing love your work mate. Keep it up please it teaches us a lot respect
Have you had a bust up with Sam?
No the podcast double acts come to a natural end due to other commitments
@@Actual_electrical_content I think that’s the most diplomatic thing I’ve ever heard you say 😂

Hi Jamie, best of luck with your recent venture into remote metering etc. Have you decided to start a new language with your spelling of Channel i.e.. "The Channle". Here it is in Welsh just for your entertainment "Croeso nôl i'r Sianel" regards from the old sod etc.
I’ll be adopting this spelling in future as a not to my number one fan
@@Actual_electrical_content I dare you to say "Croeso nôl i'r Sianel" instead of "Welcome back to the Channel" if you do you will have to copy the ô with the accent over the letter O .. Regards, Ray.
Is this meant to be similar to power factor correction but for domestic use
No power factor correction is not a con and this is
There is simply, no better video of how to test a 3 Phase motor on the entire net, bro. This is a Master Class. Period! Thank you! Brilliant and slap funny.
This guy knows class when he sees it
8:28 geeze, are big t*ts etc mags still sold? Lol. missing you on the podcast... And enjoying your content!
Thank you for this amazing compilation Jamie! ❤️ I followed your instructions and studied a bit. I got 70% in one go. You were right about non-electrical background being able to pass the course.
Great job! Allways good to hear this video and its method works
To add to my comment from earlier I was refering to panel schematics
Do you cover how to read schematics more confidently
This is a project I am currently working on I have the content and I am working on the video over the next 2-3 months
Fantastic, looking forward to it. I’m an experienced spark and I think what your doing is fantastic mate, helps experienced sparks fill some gaps like controls and schematics for instance that we may not be as experienced in👍🏼🍻
@@DarrenBraddock cheers glad it helps ill be doing the drawings stuff soon
All this green tech you'll be running an EV and wanking polar bears off in no time!
Nice! any links to your crimper, cutter head and compressor? I was looking to buy the standard ones and just came across your video. Looks much better and much easier on tight spaces. Any guidance?
Allways cembre , Google they’re catalog, it’s not cheap minf I rent the pump but all the heads are my own
Most jobs they want mates and improvers doing this work. Race to the bottom!! Imagine if BESNA had succeeded!
Looks like there is going to be a load more solar farms going up for you and your little crimper to get to work on 😃😃
Secret is I don’t really do this kind of work anymore it’s Java but I go way back with I do it for , the new installs are boring I don’t get involved but I do like a good retrofit
Beethoven don't talk daft he's a large saint Bernard dog how can that be him
JK sort of.😆
What's with the gay music?bit of a deterrent.🤣
Get some culture you heathen
@Actual_electrical_content I had to listen to my dad play Beethoven endlessly for years,I was joking btw.😉
@@danielelise7348I’ve had a word with your dad and we’re going to forgive you but do it again and your grounded
interesting choice of music great to hear some beethoven.
Proper way to cook, the jointers stove

Jamie, perhaps you need to get Sam on some of that work. As he's having a rough time at the moment.
CDP-608ESD is now skipping randomly driving me crazy. It is otherwise built so solidly had it since new its been in dry storage past 15 yrs
I wish I could understand the video but alas, I only speak and understand English.
There are full subtitles assuming your able to read
@ *you’re* Nope, I can’t read.
Probably beat keeping away from motors then
Great video bro! Finally i know how to properly test the motors now! Thank you!
another top video
Got a Japanese wire stripper similar to the one you are using in the video Jamie. Can cut half a mil of insulation if want to, Amazing accuracy from the Japanese steel blades 👍
Can’t beat that style of stripper in my opinion
What a star! love it
Thanks i now understand a lot better about dol controls, luckily i found your channel,
Amazing how many so called "BMS Electricians" still don't know how to make off these cables
Or indeed do actual BMS
Happy new year Jamie, another great video! This is a topic I’ve been trying to get my head around lately 🤔 Those Knipex scissors are absolutely fucking brilliant by the way!! I’ve also just got my self some Fanny stretchers which I’m very happy about 😂 You know so information, fair play and thanks for sharing
If you get the sizzles get the ones with the round notch on as it’s a tool in it’s self
Cancel my last i just seen you have done a whole video on it 🤣🤣
Don’t worry I’ve got you covered
Set getting ordered from TLA as we speak 👏🏻👏🏻
Ok so where can i find out more about these neoprene sleeves... Always used heatshrink and never once been introduced to this?!?!?
im using beldon cable(single twisted pair with drain wire and foil think its 8167 or summat like that)at the minute for lcm's in the switches with dali and dali pir sensors..... its shit to fish too xD
Dali sends a shiver down my spine
Lovely bit of kit......! 😍🤤
It really is! Gets me moist to be honest
Great video jamie learning alot from the channel regarding controls and the like keep it up
Thanks, will do!
@Actual_electrical_content I was wondering is there any resources you could recommend to learn more about process controls any advice would be great
also used around for instro and can come in swa. Great vid
Worth adding to this that belden cable for RS485 should be 120ohm impedance type which shouldn't be used for analogue voltage or current signals. Nice video mate! 👍
Very educational
Phew
Spot about the earthing principles Jamie. I have seen some mad crazy faults on RS485 control systems over the years due to unterminated earths or double terminated earth’s. Seen people change out expensive modules to try and fix the issues when all it needed was a bit of knowledge. Most systems will sit steady with the wrong wiring until a random spike, electrical noise or radio causes issues. Also check for the screen being grounded along the cable due to damage or earthed jointbox. All the best.
It’s allways the eart and ground loops that mess up Omally robust kit
I just stripped out a boiler room wired in the early 90s. The temp sensors on the pipework and outdoors were wired in pyro! I'm gonna be running in a load of belden in compartmented galv trunking to the new stuff. Think there's 5 pipe temp sensors, a room sensor, an outdoor sensor, then the control wires to the pumps x 3, boilers x 2, dps sensors. Some 1pair, some 2pair. Been a while since I wired a boiler room but your video just reminded me I need to order pin crimps 😂
Pyro gets me hard
@Actual_electrical_content sadly I've never installed it but stripped plenty of it out of this job. The building had a central battery emergency light system, an old fire alarm and strangely the lift all wired in pyro.
