I'm almost done with Metaphor and Resi 8 and will be jumping into this one afterwards. Thanks you for this video, esp because I'm an ultrawide gamer
I definitely think it's a good thing, especially with the recent multiplatform strategy they've about to implement. Obviously Rebirth and even XVI might be compromised and downscaled to optimise for Switch 2 (or hopefully get good optimization, as even with PS5 and PC mainly for XVI, it did have issues, and for Rebirth on PS5, but that's another topic to talk regarding how good their optimization for their games have been in this decade recently whether it's their external AA or inhouse AAA GAMES) Especially when Switch 2 is undoubtedly going to open up avenues for FF in Japan, as they've been going on a downward trend in Japan, a country that's focuses on Nintendo Switch than any home console, even PS5 is barely getting noticed despite the power it has and the tons of good games that are there (then again PS as a whole been a decline in Japan ever since PS3). and Xbox is a nice option regardless as well as PC Day 1. Obviously Final Fantasy as a brand does have other issues surrounding it than just being timed exclusives. But at least it being multiplat will at least generate a new audience and a start at least.
@@madkaiser4887 To be able to play on your preferred platform is always a plus. Hopefully, going forward, this multiplatform strategy sees their games on every current platform day 1 and not timed exclusively, because while it isn’t going to fix all of their problems, it will be a major hurdle gone.

I have no clue how they'll be able to run 16 on a switch 2 without major cuts in quality and performance, but I think Xbox is inevitable for both FF7R and 16

Its sad that this is only for the rich people that can afford a pc to begin with but us console players don't get this luxury
Alternatively, I highly recommend 60 fps Pre-Rendered cutscenes and cinematic mod by tenshiken.
Reduced skill Cooldowns, is a banger not gonna lie.
This game looks super fun and super boring at the same time from what I’ve experienced. I should give it a go next time it’s on sale
I think a mod that makes cooldowns performance based and charge faster via landing your normal attacks would be a more interesting implementation than what it currently is right now

Hey! I agree and I have actually forwarded such request to the Modding Community. The Escapement Bit has a cool effect that speeds up the recharge timer of every abilities for a few seconds after a perfect dodge _(One of Kairos Gate's boons also has a similar effect but with Magic Burst)_ . This might be a good starting point in order to transfer that effect to regular attacks. I've been trying to mod it myself, but I'm a beginner xD. CheatEngine might be an easier way to achieve to.
The problem with recent FF series is that it lost that original formula. Great male character and a great female character. It was the heartbreak and the story that made the FF series. Even one of the directors said FF9 is the perfect game they have envisioned for FF series and he was absolutely right. Now? Some boyband and bland looking MC.
@@chromecobalt If we’re using director’s quotes to back original FF, Hironobu Sakaguchi said, and I quote “FFXVI is the ultimate Final Fantasy experience” even placing it as his favorite game of 2024 with the PC version. That said, people tend to forget that the original formula isn’t coming back if it’s been well over 20 years at this point. However, that doesn’t mean Final Fantasy has lost what it is, because it hasn’t. The series has just become extremely experimental in its gameplay and hasn’t settled on building on just one, which is one of its problems currently. If they want more of a unified fanbase, they simply need to build on one set gameplay system for a number of entries before switching to something new, instead of switching every single game. But this notion I’ve seen of some people saying Final Fantasy isn’t Final Fantasy anymore because of different gameplay is something I simply do not agree with at all.

Gameplay, they can experiment and still make a great game, while retaining the original formula like FF7 remake. everything after 13 lost the charm for me. 13 was barely even enjoyable as well. @ The way I see it, I don’t think they lost that formula at all. If anything FFXVI was the one to put that classic formula that you mention back on track for the series in general.
what original formula? the franchise has over 10 different combat systems and mechanics that where impactful not only to it but the rpg land scape in general.
I had no problem with the difficulty. It was fun to just beat down on enemies like a power fantasy. If the base difficulty was as hard as Ultimaniac then people would have just cried at it being too hard 😂.
That's what I'm saying. They already complain enough for games like Elden Ring for being too difficult
@@Merk1387 I would have maybe preferred at least FF mode at the start, but overall, I still enjoyed my time with the game regardless. I don’t believe every game has to be the hardest game in the world to have fun, and I think Soulslike games have really given people that false idea that extremely hard = fun. I know what I’m getting into when playing Final Fantasy, and that’s for the story first and foremost.
@@MoreLimitless_ Agree 100%. Final Fantasy isn't known for being hard anyway. And soulslike games have definitely skewed the perception about hard being fun. It works for souls since the combat is simple but people would change their tune if they played DMC or Ninja Gaiden at the hardest difficulties.
Nice video. Also uh I haven't played Rebirth yet lol just waiting for the PC version. Anyway, what I'd like to see is more sections like going to Jessie's house in Remake. Those real thoughtful additions that add a lot of depth. And... honestly? I want to see the story extend past where the original game ended. My own ~fan theory~ but I think there was meant to be a lot more to FF7 they basically always held back on and was a large impetus for this remake project.

All these mods make me super disappointed with how the studio never really did make more changes post release. Was hoping for a case like 15 royals where something they add elevates the game. But we never got something as ‘simple’ as a harder difficulty without being a new game plus. Which is why I didn’t get the game for PS5 since I don’t have time to replay it in the harder new game plus difficulty, so waited for the pc release to download a mod.
@@pian-0g445 Yeah, the team moved on to their next project almost immediately after FFXVI released so hopefully they’ve at least taken feedback to heart. Overall, it looks like PC will be the definitive way to play this with mods for people who were disappointed with certain aspects of the game like its difficulty.
The difficulty was absolutely fine. I played without any timely accessories and I had a blast during all the main story and DLCs. I didn't died a lot, but I don't see the fun in dying over and over again. Boss fights were intense without being frustrating. I played FF7 Remake at the same time and the final bosses of that game were awful. The fight with Sephiroth was frustrating as hell, yet everyone praised the difficulty in that game.
@@fastica While I did think the difficulty was a bit too easy in 16 myself, I think video game genres like Soulslikes have really skewed people’s thinking in believing that every game needs to be the hardest thing in the world to be fun. Absolutely not. But I do acknowledge that the difficulty balancing also wasn’t the best, even though I still really enjoyed the game regardless.

Every enemy is too spongy it always feels like anything to kill takes forever
Character action games usually make their enemies spongy so that you can style and combo on them. The reason FF16 dose this even more prominently is mainly due to it not only being a stylish action game in general, but also the stagger system and most of the damage coming from strategically planning when and which of your abilities to use on a bosses stagger window.

Mythos Exalted is similar to Logos Unleashed in that it is a combat mod. However, unlike Logos Unleashed that only adds to what's already there without replacing anything, ME is an overhaul that replaces movesets, and implements custom abilities. For instance: Lunge - Swapped with "Phoenix Step", Air Magic - Replaced with "Air Charged Magic" (Will instantly use Charged Magic in air for combos)

Yeah no, designing this game around cool downs just feels half-assed when games like DMC exist and half the combat system is almost totally copying that formula. This game tried too hard to have the best of both worlds, but just ended up lacking in both departments. It really needed to lean more into either the FF-RPGness, or the DMC combat flow-state. Half way in-between both just left me incredibly unsatisfied. Glad these mods exist, I might actually wanna play this game again. Was mostly disappointed with it by the end, mostly because of the story's flaws and the limitations imposed on combat, the shallowness, the ridiculously slow and braindead AI, and the lack of party usability. If a mod comes out that lets your re-customize Torgal follow-ups with follow-up attacks and commands for the other party members, I will be absolutely all over this.
@@14megasxlr I don’t agree personally. As like I said in the video, after playing the game through many times, I think cooldowns make sense with how the combat is designed in this game. I also think that even without the combat mods the game still lends itself well despite not being as mechanically in depth as something like DMC. I play this game from time to time just to engage with the combat and it becomes very clear the more you practice combos that Ryota Suzuki still pulled off a great combat system despite having to follow a very different design philosophy than DMC5.

They should’ve added something similar to the cooldown mod in the base game that’s only available in NG+. Like hey thanks for beating the game now go crazy cause it’ll make a NG+ more fun and be op in the game. Like it’s a single accessory that has a MASSIVE cooldown for all abilities, hell even one that gives you gain LB in combat when you have it on
Instead of cooldowns, I'd like to see a mod that brings back the MP meter.

Just finished it last week, amazing game with some flaws but im general i REALLY REALLY like it. Currently playing FF7 Rebirth so i can jump right into the Rebirth Part once it released

As someone who hated ff16 after playing it, and would personally give it 6/10. These mods would've made it 8/10 easily. Should've been default. The story still kinda sucks.
I don't understand why people feel the need to place all the blame on Yoshi-P when he's literally only the producer of FFXVI. I think it's very disingenuous to place all the blame on someone who doesn't have nearly have as much creative control as he does on FFXIV. There are certainly design problems with the game, but most of those decisions, I'd bet, were not entirely up to Yoshi-P for this game in particular.
@MoreLimitless_ fair enough he was not the game director, and I never played ff14 in my life. (I dislike mmorpgs). He sadly was the biggest name behind the game. Also, you're right it is disingenuous. I am sorry Also, who tf was the game director? Man made a bad game and used Yoshi P to get hype for it.
@@mattappl3119 The director was Hiroshi Takai who had a development supervisory role on FF14 and is a very experienced game developer. They don't "use" Yoshi-P for hype, it's simply that Yoshi-P is a big name and very beloved by fans in general (For good reason). Although, I do not agree that the game is bad at all, I've always addressed that the game also isn't perfect as said in the video, and I respect your opinion regardless.

Glad to see someone continuing to put a good word in for this game. Funnily enough despite not owning it on PC yet, I was just looking at what mods they had on there yesterday. 3 out of 5 of my main issues of the game has been awesomely tackled already by modders and all mentioned in your video. Those 3 being directional input mechanics, higher base difficulty, and (despite not as in-depth as I wanted it to be, but still cool) more status effects to equipment. The last 2 are a god dang dedicated run button, and controllable party members. And one mod i've been desperately hoping for since I beat the game was open world Ifrit. It sound ridiculous I know but I think that was be so stupidly fun. haha
Although they don't have a dedicated run button mod yet, I did forget to mention in video that there is a mod that reduces the time sprint is activated.
I wish there would be some way to fix the poor LOD. I am playing on max settings with DLSS on 1440p Ultrawide monitor, but still far distanced objects (like castles, cliffs, etc) look pretty bad. I get that game was made mainly for PS5, but PC port should have fixed bad level of detail, as Players use monitors and sit much closer to the screen.
The fact that modders are adding things that the devs could have probably done post launch is crazy.
Even though I really enjoyed the game, I cannot defend some of their design choices and think it's CS3's biggest flaws as a studio currently when it comes to their design philosophy in creating their games. Thankfully these mods, I feel, make the experience a lot better and mitigate some of the games flaws.

They designs the game look like Devil May Cry mechanic so that's why it lack of rpgs, now with these mods it much better experience and it does feel like when you play FF15, some mods are not necessary but the weapon mode and ffxvifix is huge difference.
Hate to say it but CT3rd are pretty well known for their games having this problem, the ffxiv modding community is out of control now.
for some reason it runs so badly on my pc. It starts running well and after some time playing or entering some villages the fps gets wayy lower and it just gets unplayable until I reboot my pc

Thanks for sharing this man. Ff 16 is one of my favorite ffs now, but as I was playing the game, there was always this bagging sense of stuff missing. With the combat, or the rpg. The story was flawless in my opinion. I hope these mods will fix that for me. Thanks again
Removing the requirement to equip the base moves and relegating them to directional inputs ala DMC is an incredible idea.
Props to the modders for fixing this game. Can’t wait to see what else they can do to fix the combat system.
I loved the game. But can admit it had its faults in area's where these mods are mostly addressing. Can't wait to play it on PC at some point. Thanks for sharing dude.
I need a full performance mod for this game, because my 3060 can't run the game at 60fps, even with DLSS set to performance mode

@@lancelot2833 Because they aren’t. They are a fundamental part of the design structure of the combat, and without them, everything becomes obsolete, even more so than before. Having played the game without cooldowns, this becomes very apparent. Cooldowns keep a consistent flow to combat, and if you know when and where to use them to balance style and strategic use, its implementation makes sense within the confines of the combat.
I like the cool downs. They encourage more use of other eikons and resource management.
@@MoreLimitless_ thats why i use reduced cooldowns but not instant, especially with critical mode
@@BuckshotBill118 Exactly. Turning off cooldowns completely removes any semblance of strategy the game had, especially in the stagger windows, and removes any incentive to switch between abilities. If they are off, like I said in the video, the stagger mechanic becomes useless and the flow of combat feels off because the game isn’t built to be played that way.
@@MoreLimitless_ I strongly disagree I put 400 hours in a game the cool down hurts the game the way that they could have fixed it by giving you no cooldowns for making the abilities do less damage
The annoying part about half of these issues is that they can be adressed with more content update. Hard mode for the base game + boss rush + boss replay. It's the easiest thing ever to implement. People would love to be able to play as Jill, Cid and Joshua and if Square Enix cared, they'd be added in an update similar to the Comrades FFXV DLC but that's wishful thinking.
@@DarkRei7 I can agree that all they really needed to do was update it more post launch, but it seems more of the team moved on right after the game was finished. Although they don’t have a boss rush, I think Kairos Gate is a great alternative end game mode in its own right that’s very fun to play through.

@@DarkRei7 He didn’t promise a playable Jill or anything of the sort. Yoshi-P stated that if the PC port did well, other playable characters could be on the table in the future. However, I would not hold my breath for this myself.
@@MoreLimitless_ true the PC port did not do well apparently less than 400k sales after a month, Square were upset about 5 million sales in 6-8 months on a single platform, they're probably fuming that the PC port that they barely marketed sold that poorly
@@DarkRei7 We have to wait for a definite sales report for its sales so far on PC. For now, we cannot say anything for certain, but I would say FF16 in general is well over the 5 million mark atp.
awesome video!! I also downloaded a lot of outfit mods, the modders are contributing so hard for XVI. They met many difficulties when making them since XVI was not done by Unreal Engine I also saw them make progress with playable Jill mods, hopefully, they can resolve the issue soon!

For AMD users, do yourself a favour by going to Adrenalin settings, and cramp up the sharpness on the profile for this game up to 60. This combined with the uncapped frame and ultrawide mods will make a whole lot of difference. The game is naturally blurry, but this AMD feature will completely fix that. I don't know about NVIDIA, but I'm certain they've got a similar option to do the same.
nvidia can just use dldsr to play in 4k which erases any blur
I might have to try this cause with fsr on it seems to get slightly blurry
@@Animeluva3 I have a 7900 GRE Best settings for me to play at 1440p with best clarity were everything on High, shadows on Mid, resolution set to 1080 or 1200p with Super Resolution turned on in Adrenaline, and frame Gen in-game FSR & XESS implementation is just too blurry, wether set to quality or resolution scale on, especially in the backgrounds Also used Re-Shade mods to bring out more of the details that were lost in all the blur Gorgeous game after all that, felt like putting on a new pair of glasses lol
I'm on RX 7800 XT. I play the game with FSR 3 on, set to Native AA at 1440p. All other settings are set to ultra. Turn on Frame Generation + Sharpen on Adrenalin and the magic is done. (There's another in game feature that I turn off that adds up to the blurriness when left on, but I can't seem to remember what it is. It is one of those three that the only options are to turn on or off)
