How Did We Miss This?! Our Tarnished is More Than They Seem. Elden Ring Lore Theory No DLC Spoilers
(No DLC Spoilers!)
Like with a lot of their games, FromSoftware and Hidetaka Miyazaki don’t really give us much explicit backstory about our main character, the tarnished, in Elden Ring. However, according to this theory from a Japanese Lore RUclipsr, there is a lot more to our character than meets the eye...and the evidence is right in the games opening cinematic.
Join me as we examine some interesting clues and uncover our main characters true origins. Are we a simple tarnished or are we Marika’s Child and a demigod in our own right? Is Godwyn Marika’s unwanted child? Who lies sleeping in the wandering mausoleums?
Listen to the evidence yourself and let me know what you think in the commen...

The REAL reason Radahn Stopped the Stars - Elden Ring Lore Theory & Speculation
Просмотров 257 тыс.Месяц назад
In an interview with Famitsu, Dark Souls and Elden Ring Director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that Radahn must be defeated in order to access the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. It seems safe to speculate that this must be because of Radahn's conquery of the stars that left fate itself held in stasis. However, did you ever stop to think about why Radahn did this? Did he really just want to stop Ranni...

Maybe Ranni put Radahn up to it in secret. Telling him of formidable beasts among the stars, the likes of which no mortal could comprehend. Radhn, just finishing his training with the onyx lords for gravational repulsion, now would seek out the alabasters lords to pull in these star faring foes. Unbknownst to Radahn, he would halt Ranni's fate in his pursuit for powerful foes. Even if the golden order would find out about her plans, Radahn would have already stopped them. During her stalled plan, Ranni would wait for a more promising warrior to bring to her side and defeat the demigods for her. All in order to continue her plans while the golden order and the various other factions were weakened. Defeating Radahn was the starting pistol to finish her plans. And with the ever promising tarnished on her side, she put her plans into their final phases. Much of the earlier parts are speculation but Ranni seems like the 5D chess player to hinder her own plans as to not be suspected of anything nefarious.

Before I found this video I was thinking in the shower that what if the Tarnished was actually related to Marika or someone connected to Marika? I even thought maybe we're a child of Marika. Then I saw the video and was like... Ah, my thoughts made reality once more... And yes I was literally taking a shower while thinking that lol

Broseph. You are the Elden Lord that is suppose to create all endings possible. You do it all. Where Pantysnax and Houra Loux were original OGs, you are the one that cancels them and their entire family. The Elden Beast is a significant dillusion of your own power. A way to express your own power beyond a God's power source.

Considering the DLC now implies that Radahn was indeed impeding the goal of Miquella, hence why he fought so hard even after being poisoned by Scarlet Rot, I'd love to think that his main goal was always to beat up more of Astel's kind, and stalling Miquella for as long as possible was just an additional bonus he unexpectedly landed on. The festival was always meant to keep Radahn moving and in perpetual state of conquest, as he would have died faster if he wasn't doing something to ignore the pain, something he loved. Also would love to wonder how the Golden Order and the inhabitants of Sellia would have reacted to when Radahn began this hunt, probably using the beach as his battlefield. Marika looking over the horizon from Leyndal, seeing comet after comet of eldritch beings worthy to rival the Elden Beast in status being pulled into Caelid: "Dammit not again..."

Pronoun translation from Japanese to English is practically impossible. From my admittedly limited understanding of Japanese, actual pronouns like he/him she/her they/them don't work or at least there is no direct translation going from english and vice versa. This gets discussed a lot more in the queer anime and gaming spaces where gender is a topic of discussion. Anyways, translation are subject to interpretation. If you read a lot of manga online or watch old anime, then you'll know how different fan translations can be from official ones as things like pronouns, tone, and context can all be taken and twisted

With the DLC showing that Miquella in Godhood could revive Radahn, it gives more credibility to this theory. The player being dead before the start of the series, and Marika's illegitimate child means that we were born before she removed the rune of death. Marika is Numen and was known as Eternal before godhood, meaning she lived longer than even most numen who already have very long lives. Could Marika have had several children before and outlived all of them? That would give her motivation to remove the rune of death. I do love this theory, although it reminds me a lot of Dark Souls 1 in a way, but opposite almost. In Dark Souls 1, you are told that you are the chosen one. That you are tbe Chosen Undead, the special one that will rekindle the flame and extend the age of fire. Of course, we realize that was all a lie, and that we really are just some random person who had the strength to not go hollow. In Elden Ring, you are told you are noboby, another graceless tarnished in a long line of failures. But we have a Maiden, we have a very important Maiden, and we have grace. The grace of Marika points to key graces and bosses the whole game. We get Torrent, which we have only ever seen Miquella ride. Ranni takes special interest in us from an early point despite being in hiding and rarely showing herself to anyone. We also know from Marika and Radagon that goodhood and their consort have no real rules other than one being an Empearyan and the other being worthy.

Love it! Ive long held that the whistle we get from Melina is Melina's Great Rune. What kind if Whistle is an almost perfect Circle? Where do you blow? It doesnt matter. Its not really a Whistle. Check it. Besides the PVP rings, which are made of light and not real physical things... There are only 2 actual Rings in the game. (Unless you count Rykards hands and the hand monsters but i mean items we can actually get) Ranni's. And the ring Melina gives us that summons Torrent. What do they have in common? (Besides being identical lol) They are dead Demigods whos bodies were burned. So I postulate that to turn a Great Rune into an actual physical Ring requires the body be sacrificed and burned. Then the Great Rune within them will turn into an actual physical ring they can actually use, or give to their champion. If were going to become a Consort we NEED a ring right? You need a ring to get married. We have Ranni's if SHE is becoming the new God. Melinas if Marika is staying as God. And its a GREAT rune. Torrent is definitly our X factor. If there is one thing that elevates us over other Tarnished, its Torrent. Also I could point out Miquella's corpse in the cacoon is wearing a Ring. Looks just like his symbol does too. And he LOOKS like he COULD have been burned. I want to say im not as confident in this as I am in Ranni and Melina being the Ladies with The Rings. So yeah we start the game with a Great Rune in a way. Melinas Rune. An almost perfect circle.

after the DLC i think we can even assume that marika and the shamans are able of just birthing without a any help we don't know who messmer father is, but we know he is older than all of renalla children and is specifically a son of marika he may very well be marika first born, some think he was born even before she became a god we know there were more demigods around at the time of the shattering, they just died and are not mentioned, the same way messmer wasn't before the DLC the tarnished may very well be just like melina, another child of marika, created without help, with the purpose of doing .... something and since marika can just strip someone of grace and give it back later, she being an actual all powerful god and all, she probably could do the same to a demigod and make them look "tarnished"

While I'm not too sure I believe this theory, I do think it's odd how many people are against it because it "conflicts with Souls-Borne themes". I don't know, I distinctly recall Miyazaki saying they wanted Elden Ring to feel different from Dark Souls. A world where you did matter, where you were powerful. The characters, Malenia, Godfrey, Alexander, Blaidd, etc, all tell you that you are powerful. You being a shunned demigod of some sort definitely sounds like it would fit what Fromsoft were going for with Elden Ring.

I think that due to Marika and Radagon being the same person they could’ve had many more children than just the obvious. Not only that, but because they’re the same person they could’ve had the children at any point in history. As for why the children would be unwanted despite being technically empyrean, Marika and Radagon’s other children were diseased or cursed in some way. Maybe some of the other children they had together were simply too sickly to live at all. 🤷‍♂️

I mean now that you mention it, fighting Godfry reminds me of a son squaring up with his father and then getting wrestled into the ground lol. We can't forget that Godfry was chieftain of the badlands before becoming a lord. We also know Radagon was with Marika from the start and somewhere along the line they didn't agree and here we are sent off as Marika's last ditch effort. Whos to say Marika didn't have several children out of wedlock with Horah Loux at the time before receiving the title Elden lord and the power from Marika. The children she had simply weren't powerful enough to amount to anything godly or perhaps some were cursed and powerless so they must be tucked away like our dear friend Messmer. Of course Messmer wasn't powerless and they attempted to find a cure via the fire giants but there was no cure. Malenia on the other hand had a slim chance with her curse thanks to Miquella's needle, so Marika allowed her as long she didn't bloom. This is getting long and off topic so I'll sum up the rest. Radagon resurfaces all like "The fuck bitch, who the hell is this guy? Fine i'll pay a visit to that big tiddy goth chick out west you hate so much". Godfry probably speechless trying to comprehend what he just witnessed. Eventually Marika said fuck it BREAK THE RUNE-FIX IT-BREAK IT-FIX IT-BREAK IT- and then mama said knock you out. all in all I didn't feel resentment or hate from Godfry when we see him mourning his sons death. His eyes still seeing grace proves he's still loyal to Marika, but we too see grace. He knows he must play his part and battle his own child for Marika, sent by Marika, to stop Radagon and bring a new age. Maybe I smoked a bit to much weed and I'm rambling lol orrrrr maybe papa Godfry wanted to make sure his only child with grace had what it takes to surpass him. If not then he becomes Elden lord again without a shred of true divinity, not powerful enough to kill Radagon and end his queen suffering. The cycle continues.

If this is true, I'd think that Godwyn fathered us, as Marika was mostly distraught about Godwyn's death because he could sire Empyrean children for her. That would make us illegitimate because of the nature of that siring, and the eclipse symbol looks the closest related to Those Who Live In Death
